  • On April 27th 2024, the Puffin Cultural Forum hosted “Family Stories”, a panel discussion about the “Jazz Town, Teaneck” exhibit, where musicians or family members of the musicians featured in the exhibit shared stories about what it was like to grow up in Teaneck among celebrated jazz greats.
    Teaneck Poet Laureate Scott Pleasants kicked off the event with a poetry performance.
    The panel discussion featured Trumpet player, conductor, and composer Jon Faddis, one of the musicians featured in the exhibition; Dr. Thedia Jones Smith and Bruce Jones, daughter and son of the celebrated trumpeter and composer, Thad Jones; Chris Hanna, son of iconic pianist and composer Roland Hanna; and Kim Stewart, daughter-in-law of photographer Chuck Stewart.
    Award-winning journalist and founder of Coopty Productions, Allison Davis, moderated the discussion.
    “Jazz Town, Teaneck” celebrated jazz history and photographer Chuck Stewart’s works featuring photographs of legendary musicians such as Thad Jones, Roland Hanna, Donald Byrd, Pat Boone, Ben E. King, and many more.
