- In this video I demonstrate an oil change on the Newzie, an Isuzu UM6W Diesel engine that we use to power the main generator and hydraulics.
Jeremy and Nick knew I was filming and decided to play a prank on me.
My first video with two camera angles!! It was a doozy to edit, which is why I waiting so long before editing it. Filmed in March of 2020, edited in June of 2021.
As some of you know I began my Paramedic training and am no longer on the boat. I recently graduated from paramedic school and am currently doing my practicum. I am absolutely having a blast and see myself continuing down this route for the foreseeable future.
My RUclips channel has gained some popularity while I was away and I have decided to come back (again) and put some more time and effort into it. I am in talks with the fishing company about allowing to come and do some more filming on the boat. I am also thinking about filming some fishing videos with friends, some spear fishing, scuba diving and maybe even some medical things as I gain experience. For the few of you that read these descriptions I am very curious what your thoughts are on me broadening my content to include the previously mentioned topics. Let me know in the comments!

Hello Ethan. It is the boat that Captain John Hackett who is my father, used to own for many years. I have noticed that there are many new parts in her engine room which I went down with my father, Uncle and even cousins many times. Thank you for keeping her in good shape and my father is smiling in Heaven.
3:20 LOL, enough filters for today
Nice to see a new video, and good luck on the new job!
Thank you so much! And thank you for sticking around! There will be more to come!
i ran a 215 Isuzu in my lobster boat for 20 years .. awesome motors and though as nails
Thank you for sharing! Love the videos.
welcome back! great video
Thank you! Thanks for sticking around!
Nice dude !
If you have 2 5 gallon buckets stuck together. Throw them on the ground sideways and they should be easier to separate after.
Also I recommend getting one of those 5 gallon bucket hand pumps. It may not be as useful when your engine is so easy to access though.
Nice, thanks for sharing. Can I offer a tip for ya? Take a Punch and knock a hole in the bottom of the filters, let it drain into a bucket then remove them. WAY less mess... then you won't have to hold the bucket up and have the oil flowing all over the top of the filter as you unscrew it. I so this on my Equipment, makes it so much easier of a job ... tho I use a drill to make the hole instead of a punch usually. Keep the content coming, I for one am enjoying it!
Oh, and btw the black oil, is pretty normal for a diesel. Check out AdeptApe here on RUclips, while he's a cat guy he gets into the whole oil and filter thing in a couple different videos.
Interesting, thats a cool idea, Ill pass that on! Unfortunately I dont think I’ll be back on that boat for a little while. I guess the same trick trick would work on a car though, im going to try that out!
With a punch you don't have to worry about metal shavings plus it plugs the hole untill you get a bucket under it and remove the punch.
Hell ya you need to post more videos we will give you money
Haha thank you! Ive been thinking about merchandise like coffee mugs or hats
@@EthanLandshark hi new sub, I'll buy a hat.
i would surmise the overflow filter is larger because,
its after the 2 main oil filters, in an event those 2 are overworked, this overflow would run from a different, less used sump plug, potentially dirtier more contaminated oil ...
That makes sense!
how often is the oil changed and how often on the main engines ? What type of oil is used ? Monograde?
I’m a hgv technician. How can I transfer into this field?
Look for boats that are hiring and tell then your experience! Look for the regulations in your area about what ticket is needed for what amount of HP. Where I live, if the main engine is under 1000HP the engineer doesnt need a ticket.
At the very least head down to your local commercial marina and start asking boats if they need deck hands!
The engineer has to fish as well or just engineer?
The engineer helps out on deck too!
