I like the production design and how everything looks so identical, but the acting is kinda poor. Overall, a decent fan film. I can see how much love you put into this, and how passionate you guys are. Good work.

Честно, я очень удивилась, когда мне это видео попалось в рекомендациях. Как для короткометражки, тем более по игре, сделано очень хорошо. Радует, что некоторые кадры напоминают моменты из игры, детализация мест, предметов, персонажей - все сделано прекрасно. Озвучка - радует, что она тут есть!

I completely forgot about this, my computer broke a few months ago so now I'm using the old one. I was going to search for something on RUclips and accidentally found the trailer again, so I watched it. It's not the best quality, but it represents the game a lot, great job!

I'll share my opinion. Just like some other people, i think the acting could have been better and maybe exploited some iconic stuff from CoF. Like Sawrunner or the monsters, however the production quality is insanely good and y'all hit all the sweet spots when trying to make it look like CoF. Just watching some of it i could already tell this was very similar to Cof's city. Not everything about the acting/originality is bad, like the part where Simon gets ran over by the car. That original little touch made the movie even better, as it would fit both the original story and this one. I personally appreciate how y'all took such a hard and difficult concept and bring it to life. Overall i'll give it a 8/10, keep up the good work.

Honestly i knew about this for a while, but only found out recently that it was getting released thanks to your comment on my video (a bit of a questionable way to promote the film but i digress)
Honestly i didn't really like the film, although i can sympathize with it because of the fact this was done by 5 people and had an extremely low budget.
I'll start with some of the more positive comments such as the jumpscare of the face which i really liked and it looks very nice you guys have some talent at recreating it. I also like how it tries to be different from the game although this is also a criticism. One good instance of this is in the beginning when the injured man laughs ominiously at Simon before Simon gets hit by the car. It's something that hasn't been touched on in the game and i really like the idea of it being a planned attack on Simon. Some of the camera work was also good such as Simon running from alley to alley confused and panicked. The jumpscare when Simon picks up the piece of paper was unexpected and pretty decent. I also really liked how you guys managed to recreate the ripped magazine page that has the Phone number to the suicide hotline as it looks very accurate to the one from the game.
Now i get to some of my criticisms of this.
First of all the continuity towards the game was pretty bad, you have pretty much gathered all of the early puzzles from the game and combined them into one that is pretty confusing.The lack of the monsters in the film is pretty disappointing since the plot of Simon's book mostly revolves around them. Simon only fights one and doesnt see another until the near end of the film but is somehow convinced that its some sort of apocalypse where he can turn into one when purnell explains it to him. I didn't like the fact that Sophie wrote him a letter telling him to meet her but to get to that letter he had to solve the puzzle when it would have been easier if she just called him like in the game. Speaking of which the fact that she makes a 5 second appearance is pretty stupid since she is a integral part of the story and was really thrown in there just so people wouldnt complain about the fact that sophie wasnt in this because she really wasnt. Most of the acting is wooden at best and you can tell the actors were fairly new to the scene, theyre also very quiet or even incomprehensible id have to rewatch the dialougue multiple times to get a glimpse of what theyre saying. Purnell's voice suffered the most who sounds a lot like darth vader, now ive never put on a gas mask but i dont think your voice sounds like darth vader when you are wearing one. The chase scene between Simon and Purnell looked pretty goofy like something out of a looney tunes cartoon and really think it couldve been done better, in the game you never really chase him since he mostly gets away by the time you realize hes running off and Simon would unknowningly be following him closely encountering him multiple times. Another thing i didnt like regarding the film was how the scene of simon and purnell talking to each other with the gate between them was executed as Purnell first shoots him in the shoulder and then tries to convince simon to give up his weapon in order for purnell to help him where in the game this was done the opposite way. I didnt like how purnell pretty much revealed everything and didnt leave that much open to figure out on your own,although this can be excused by the fact that this isnt suppoused to be an adaptation of the game but more of a fan film and most People seeing this have most likely already played the game and understand it's story but it still feels pretty cheap. The ending was also pretty questionable since it is happening in the midst of a therapy session with purnell and Simon instead of Simon writing a suicide note / fighting the book version of himself and is pretty anti climatic as Simon's situation hasn't really been resolved in any way. The appearance of Simon's mom didnt help either as it kinda ruined the mystery behind her, how she looks, acts and her overall personality although the actress did a passable job for something small such as this.
Overall this film was not as good as people are giving it credit for, but there is potential. Most of my criticisms can be blamed on the lack of people working on this and the budget of this. There are some moments where the film shines but it was pretty confusing for the most part. In my opinion what you should do is keep making these films and once you eventually get more popularity, you should open up a patreon and attempt to do a reboot of the film with a bigger budget and team. I wish you good luck in your future projects.
Dam, that's crushing 🤣 at least you didn't just up and say it was shit, giving some criticism. I do agree with a some of your points and you are right about it just coming down to casting and budget. This was intended for college and wasn't supposed to be complete, as our past work was decided to be marked instead of our Final project, last second. I wanted to complete it for my love of the game and there is an extended cut that'll be on Blu-Ray, where the ending is of Simon writing his book at home when book Simon shows, even includes an end narration from Stig (the original voice actor of Simon) so, if you ever end up getting it, I hope that version is more sufficient for you than this version. I didn't have to complete this but I wanted to because of my love for the game. Your feedback is noted and I will defo work on my stuff, but I feel like your cons are kind of stating the obvious since you know this is a no budget film, your listing things that'll come with that sort of production.

Although i don't have any money on me right now to get the blu-Ray, i'd like to imagine it's good. I might have been a bit too harsh on the film, but there are still a few things that can't be blamed on the budget and more the direction.

It's funny how people interpreted differently that scene where that guy was asking for help, when i first played the game i thought he really was wounded and needed help. But when he saw that Simon was run over by a car he tried to help him and called the ambulance with Simon's phone.

I can tell that my expectations for this was a bit high but I’m not,nowhere near calling this bad I don’t usually give reviews to stuff like this or reviews in general. I’ll start with the positives, to start I’m very happy that they kept most of the assets of the game and Simon was done perfectly, the scares though small in amount had a big surprise factor to them, and the best of it overall was the rate it came out you guys really pushed it to the limit and did so good!
Now for the negatives, the monsters though identifiable where kinda poor in some aspects, such as the “Slowers” they are done fairly well but a good close up and it starts to looks like a kid in a zombie costume,another was Sophie she got a small amount of screen time and I feel like you maybe could have done more for her (but what do I know I’m not a film producer) and overall I would just say the biggest problems I had was around the end I could barely keep up, I like how you kept every aspect of the game (though not in order but that’s to be expected) like I said don’t get me wrong, but it just is more of a ME problem though on that one. Final thoughts is GOOD JOB MAN A SOLID 8/10 EVEN WITH A LOW BUGET THIS MOVIE SLAPPED!

It was very good, I've been waiting since I saw the trailer, I would have liked it to last longer, but what a great job, I quite liked it.
14:18 This scares the shit out of me, because I just moved away from Rushden in Feb, it was a short tenancy after a very serious depressive episode over the winter, where I also had several violent incidents, I went to Hall park all the time, because of winter; often at night. I found Cry of fear in January, but found this video a week or so ago randomly…what were the odds? For anyone who hasn’t been to Rushden, this video basically sums up life there, it’s a shithole, don’t go.

That is very cool for real, seeing the town empty besides the game characters made it nice. Sophie is similar to Sophie xD I just want to point out 2 things;
The audio-balance between talking and music wasnt good, i couldnt understand everything in the scenes
It wouldve been cool if Sick Simon had the beard like in the game (everyones different but if i dont shave in 2 weeks i look exactly like him LoL)
He does actually have a beard in the extended cut, since we added an additional ending 😁
Where do you go about getting the Blu Ray for this? I really did enjoy this short and can see that you're camera movement and direction is on point.

Ive been watching this and i have to give it a 4/10 im gonna elaborate but first i wanna talk about the good stuff the good stuff is the attention to detail, having the same clothing as simon, the same phone, the pocket knife, the doctor, even the password to the computer. thats great for a budget of little to no money
and now the negatives, the directing is poor, clips feel out of place the acting is bad the guy playing simon's acting stands out the
most he doesnt feel like simon he feels like hes a guy playing simon delivering lines instead of actually being simon he stumbles around like an idiot the dude legit pulled out a knife with a gun pointed at him from far away sometimes the camera man acts like they are filming a comedy vine skit honestly i have expected better from the trailer but instead i got dissappointed
