From what I can remember, Miyazaki was a fan of the Moomin Trolls, which makes sense since the franchise was such a hit in Japan that it got three whole anime adaptations, with the 90's one being the definitive one.

Love this! You really capture the feel of the Ghibli style and combined it with Moomin beautifully! I got interested in how you would draw The Groke (Mårran/Mörkö). If she would get the inky-sticky substance one can see in Ghibli films, or a more traditional freezing vibe as in the original stories.
You drew that water SO well. I never really thought about it but the description of it looking like jelly fits perfectly. If you look at ponyo, then it would be the same exact picture but different fonts

The Moomin Troll's mouth being open makes the last picture so much more pleasant, because when it was unvisible he kinda looked scared and the horse's 1000 yards stare wasn't helping. All of those are so good, but the last one felt so... idk if nostalgic is the word, but the water shadows made me flash back to my childhood when I was watching Moomins, most specifically the magician top hat episodes, and how the squad got rid of the Antlion and there was a lot of dark water there.
I remember discovering Moomin Valley over the pandemic; I was happy to find all of the episodes on RUclips. Or, at least, I think they were all there. Very cute show, and very cute art!
I realize mommintroll reminds me of the character in Spirited Away, Boh-mouse and Yu-bird.. this is amazing as always! I am always inspired by your art Emimi! I also am impressed with your way to capture the beautiful part of Studio Ghibli that is traditionally watercolors. The first one is simple yet so nicely done, and the second one is gorgeous! And as you said with the last one, you can almost smell the rain, I love rain in artwork, and I abselutly love how you drew it, the pattern on the water, and the small drops on the character's body is so good. Fun fact : Haywood Miyazaki actually worked on the 1960s Annamae series so this probably explains why very movies are so similar to moomin .
