Thunder Run did have more airtime hills after the first far turnaround when it opened. These were removed in the years after and replaced with that infamous straight track section.
    m.ruclips.net/video/y-S8BlklGVo/видео.html
You wouldn’t want to ride it back then, though. Its original PTC train had a design flaw which caused crazy amounts of side to side shuffling. It was… less than comfortable.

Wow! I sort of wish all those hills were restored with the retrack. It's weird seeing the park without the water park next to Thunder Run in that footage.

I went to KK last summer for the first time, as a 48-year old getting back into being an enthusiast. I liked that park quite a bit, and LOVED both Lightning Run and Storm Chaser. Storm Chaser was my first ever RMC, and I still cannot believe that I was able to ride it 10 times that day with no ill effects on my old body at the end of the day. KK is a park I could revisit every 2-3 years (along with Holiday World), since it's only about 6 hours away from where I live.

The Larson drop towers always offer tons of power. A few midways in the past, particularly the Danbury Fair’s annual carnival, have offered their 120 foot model. I rode this back in 2015, and was amazed by how strong the forces were on such a small and compact tower.

Your rankings are solid! Kentucky has a lot to offer! It still has plenty more potential. It is in good hands. I see it getting the Herschend "treatment" An even more "folksy" atmosphere. Handmade crafts, great food & MORE rides. They tried in Branson with Celebration City. Watch OUT in the next 5-10 years!

same top 3. Chang would be # 4 if it were still there. I like that you give appropriate credit to T3. It may not be world class, but it's not as terrible as some people make it out to be. Also, Gotham City Gauntlet ran great on my one ride. The trims didn't hit at all, and it was very wild. I don't know why it gets so much hate. I saw nothing wrong with it. This was perfect timing for me. Hopefully, Storm Chaser is at full strength tomorrow.

I haven't been when it turned into a Hershend park but I bet it was a lot better when Eed Heart still owned it. This place is a small park but it can be as fun as a much bigger park. The collection is so good for what they have to work with. I'm glad Eed made this place almost like it's more fir enthusiast than the general public cause the collection of coasters and flats are all enthusiast favorite rides. I loved how clean it was and how many workers were always there when you need them. And free drinks made it go up significantly cause how absolutely unbelievably unheard of that is. What a fun fantastic place. And the fact that you can walk from the airport to here is not only convenient for traveling but it's awesome to see how you are half the height of the airplane on some of these attractions.

I don't really have a top 10 list of rides I like at any parks, but here are a few Kentucky Kingdom rides I like 😉
    1: Musical Carousel 🎵🎶🎹🎻🥁
The tubas, French horns, and violins, which I can rock back and forth by myself, are fun and unique to ride on, and I love the music theme, with music notes all around and a piano platform where the instruments are placed, waiting for riders such as myself to hop on and gently rock, or ride in the drums and spin. I like to ride on the rocking instruments, because I like gentle rocking motions 🙂
    2: Bella Musica Carousel 🎠🎶🎵
The standard carousel at Kentucky Kingdom 🙂 Carousels are my favorite ride 🥰
    3: Flying Dutchman
This ride is quite relaxing, floating through the air in a giant Dutch shoe 😊
    4: the Flying Machines ride
I like this ride because I can control the motion of my glider by moving the front wing left and right. I like to gently swing side to side 🙂
    5: FlutterFly
I like this ride for its unique way of giving me control of my ride experience, using bicycle pedals to go up into the air 😉
    6: Zeppelins
I call this ride the Blimp ride, because the seats are themed to look like blimps. I like the up and down motion this ride does, with a slight tilt 🙂
I wanted to ride some more rides, like the Ferris wheel and swinging boat ride (Bluebeard's Bounty, I think the swinging boat ride is called?) in the main part of the park, and the Mad Hatter teacups, Jump Around, Rock a Bye swing, and Rowdy Racers (Race car whip style ride) in King Louie's Playland, the part of the park where the Musical Carousel, Zeppelins, and FlutterFly are located, but I didn't have enough time, and the Ferris wheel and some other rides weren't running when I visited on opening day 2021, May 8th, my first ever trip to Kentucky Kingdom 😞 Maybe I'll get to visit Kentucky Kingdom again in the future, so I can ride my favorite Musical Carousel some more, and some other rides I missed 😉

I have a trip planned to travel around the Midwest, and I can only fit two parks out of the three in this area; King's Island, Holiday World, and Kentucky Kingdom. One of them will get two days, the other only one. Obviously, I'm giving King's Island the two days. Now, the point of all this; should I visit Kentucky Kingdom or Holiday World?

    • @OklahomaCoasterFan
      @OklahomaCoasterFan 2 года назад +1

most people will say Holiday World. I say Kentucky Kingdom. It's my favorite of the 2 for the shorter lines and extreme ejector airtime from the top 2. If you love wooden coasters, then Holiday World is the clear choice.

Why was Vampire on here? Its been gone for about or a little over a decade now so has Chang. They were dismantled and moved to other parks when this place was under Six Flags back when I was in high school and I'm in my 30s now. I'm surprised you didn't bring up Twisted Sisters (or Twisted Twins when they had to change the name) when Storm Chaser replaced it. Like how Kentucky Flyer replaced Chang and Lightning Run was more or less a replacement for Vampire. Any case RIP T3. It's being removed.
Also T3 was no where as rough as the old version T2 with its old seats. T2 was painful, more so when it came to the heart loop in the old seats.

The thing is it's divided into two areas do to a road cutting through the middle. They have bridges to take you above the road. Where you enter has the bulk of the flat rides and Lighting Run. The second half is dominated by the water park Hurricane Bay, with a few flat rides and has the rest of the roller coasters. So if you are there just for the roller coasters you'll be walking what feels like empty space but luckily the park is well shaded with trees with plenty of drink stands and water fountains.
