Long charge times don't bother me any. I let it charge while I'm at work and when it's parked in the garage. I can even charge it when I'm shopping or at mc Donald's. 2017 Volt 🤘

I have a 2013 Volt. Now it only has a 29 - 42 mile range after a full charge. It that normal? Also I was wondering does the gas engine power a generator to power the electric motor.? The change over is so smooth.

Yes, the gasoline engine powers a generator, to provide power to the drive motor.
The car always runs on electric, either from the battery, from the engine (through the generator), or a combination of the two.
How much range from a charge did it have before?
You may want to ask the dealer service dept.
I've heard of prius and leaf cars suffering from that, but not a Volt.
You may have a battery issue.

The 2013 Volt has a 35 mile EV range. It’s fine. I suggest u read the owner’s manual.

Rapid charging is damaging batteries, by degrading them prematurely, so I’m happy with the slower charge, plus I would never drive electric ⚡️ on motorways as it’s not as efficient as Gas, hence why the Chevy volt, makes so much sense. Electric ⚡️ around town and fuel efficient motorway driving

Well, the engine is only a generator to supply the electric motor that drives the vehicle with power. The engine in these cars doesn't drive the wheels at all, they're electric powered all the time, it's just a matter of getting the power from an outlet or the cars engine.

zlatko iliev my 2015 Chevy Volt charges in 8 hours with an 120 line. 41 mile range on electric power. My lifetime average is 94.1 mpg. 8 hours may seem long but it works well for us.

      Quit being such a jackaxx.
German / European cars are a maintenance nightmare after a few years of age, and everyone knows it.
The 120 volt charger is supplied with the car, because most homes don't have dedicated circuits for charging vehicles, especially with regard to the 240 volt charging systems.
Even with common 120 volt circuits, there are often other things / loads on the circuit, so the default is a lower amp setting, that you can increase. Again, most homes aren't wired for car charging systems.
As for the time to fully charge, it depends upon the charger, and the power supply.
My Volt can charge in as little as 2 1/4 hours. Earlier Volts could do it in about 4.
You don't know what you're talking about, so you might as well shut your yap.

@@Fconig1 240voltcharge is thewaytogo, just about everyonehas a 240volt dryer outlet, making a240volt extension cord iseasy! andworks well, thefaster charge time doesn't hurt the battery, thevolt never really chrges to 100percent so it's battery is very long life!

@@erichannes6392 it's easier to keepthe vehicle charged at 240volt. thefaster charge time doesn't hurt the volt as it, as itnever really charges to 100percent topromote long battery life. most people willhave a 240volt outlet for their dryer and a 240volt extension cord is easyto make andthe charge automatically shuts off when the voltgets to its charge limit.
