I had a 1976 black on black automatic coupe. Loved that car! Never got so much attention from a car before. I miss it. Lowering springs transform the stance and handling of these cars.
I’ve got a 72 I love with a modern 350 with fuel injection 350 HP and a 5 spd with air cond, power everything. High performance suspension, side pipes and leather. I drive it everyday it’s loud as hell and scares small children and dogs!!

She is a sweet ride. I have owned 2 1974 Corvetts I had a 4-speed coup. I also had a 1974 convertible. Fast forward 30 years this week I just bought a 1975 4-speed L82 Convertable Love these C3 You will love the car Nothing else like them .
I just bought my first Corvette 1979 L48 C3 with 77k original miles. They were asking $9500 we settled on $8300. The car is a very solid driver very few exterior blemishes. The interior is a little worn no rips just a little worn.
Congrats on the new car! I just bought a '77 Corvette a few months ago, too. It's definitely a cool throw-back and the view from that low seat over the long hood is priceless. Mine is all original, bright orange and has the 4-speed manual transmission. What exhaust does yours have? Mine still has the original catalytic converter and mufflers and is really quiet. I want a bit more of that rumble! Enjoy!
I have an '82 Corvette, the two tone blue/gray with blue interior, and it's easily the best looking car I've ever owned - and I've owned a lot of cool cars (if not quite as many as this guy). Wherever you go people are always stopping you, always commenting. The car isn't by any means fast - the '82 is also the first year of the Crossfire engine and I'm not a fan of it as it will just, all by itself, go out of tune. But as a cruising car, it's amazing, get on the interstate and do around 75mph and the car is super smooth, super stable and very comfortable. Just don't get in a drag race as it's 95% show, and 5% go - it's not super slow or anything, but with age and such I'd guess the 0-60 is well into the 8-sec range - although in the car it feels faster as you're low to the ground and you get some really good sound. Overall I love the car - but I don't get how the value on these things has not taken off. Everything else from that era, and I mean everything, has skyrocketed in value over the past few years.
Nice score and everything that is flawed worn or doesn’t work is all fixable or replaceable. I have a ‘68 C3 and I’m so in love with her, all original and numbers matching and she’s almost done with her first full tuneup, brake rebuild, vacuum hoses and exhaust. If you want to increase the performance just put a new GM Performance 350 in it. They’re not that expensive and you can put it in there and now you got a 77 Vette with over 300 horsepower.
My dad had the ‘74 Stingray in the same blue with tan leather interior. Beautiful car that I was supposed to get at 16. Ha! (We never drove it with the T-tops in the spot you have them though)
A '77 is one of the sexiest of all Corvettes but it is probably the most unique of the C3s because it has so many parts that are one year only. I don't remember which ones in particular but there are a number.
Very cool example of a late 70s vette! Make sure to find the lower air dam for the front if there’s a spot for one since that’s how air actually gets into the tilted radiator. Very cool c3 and welcome to the club!
Very cool... thanks for sharing! I have a 1976 L-82 4-speed that I bought from a relative. I had to do a lot of work to it, but still not done. I'd love to put in a 5 or 6 speed Tremec trans. some day.
These are great, and peculiar cars. The style always turns heads. They're sporty enough to be fun to drive, and T-tops are just awesome. I have a 4 speed. It's a lot work to drive. The clutch is heavy and the shifter isn't smooth or short. If you're driving for fun it's fun. If you're in traffic, it's awful!
Your C3 has been repainted, the factory dark blue is similar but a half shade darker. Something odd I noticed immediately were the side mirrors. The side mirrors changed to a sport mirror matching the car color in 1977. The chrome side mirrors were changed for 1977. I used to own a 1977 Corvette in the factory Dark Blue exterior and dark blue/white leather interior. The car came standard with an alarm system that was activated by the drivers side key hole but it never worked right. I've always thought that 1977 model was the sexiest looking of all the models, it was the last year the stingray with that bodyline was made. The next year, 1978 the model changed. They went with a fastback rear window, which I thought resembled an aquarium but it was selected for the Indianapolis Race as the Pace car with a special black/silver paint job.
Actually, The Stainless Steel Horn Button was only 'til Mid 1977 Production...It was later Deleted by GM in Mid 1977. Rajdeep Lumay All Corvettes increase in value after 30 to 35 years depending on what generation how nice the car is and originality also plays a part in value. Lately tho nice unoriginal vetts with modern upgrades called reso mods are bringing big money too.
Ive never had a corvette or been in one but ive been thinking very hard about getting one like this. But can anyone give me the good and bad of them? I really want to be able to talk with someone who knows corvettes before i jump into something i dont know anything about
There are a few C3 buying guides on the internet as well as a few videos here on YT. The big things to look out for are rust in the "bird cage" and frame. From the factory the later ones are total smogged out dogs but they are chevy engines so the possibilities are endless if you want to go fast. I have a bone stock 180HP L48 vette. Its S-L-O-W but still a very fun car to drive.
I agree with the others , frame/birdcage most important, not rusted out!!!...other than that buy one , most came with a 350 , parts are everywhere, even new parts are cheap as hell, when I bought mine(1977)(I got lucky ,got one that wasn't running for $1700 it only needed a starter $25 new, and a fuel pump $26 new, started right up Chevy made this motor for 40+ years there are endless possibilities for more power, and they are easy to work , no computers or any of that shit!!!!!.......buy one , take your time you'll find a gem!!!
With that long front end doesn't the thing plow through the corners? That one isn't as bad as the later ones but I have to think the turn in can't be that great.
In my opinion the C3 is not a car that you blast through corners in. The steering effort is heavy, but it is really fun to drive despite it all. Big engine making lots of noise up front, the beautiful shape of the fiberglass body all around you, and if you happen to have the T Tops off, then you get to hear it all in stereo! I feel a lot like you said at the beginning, that this is the most beautiful, coolest-looking car ever, like a spaceship from the future. I've always wanted one. I've even thought about finding one and resto-modding it. But then you fire it up and start driving, and, um… Then I realize my dream car, my futuristic spaceship, probably sounds, feels, smells and drives more like an old tractor. And then I think, maybe I'd be better off just saving my pennies for my next Tesla.
The C3 is one of those cars that is special, in the same way my 1987 Citroen CX Wagon, Lotus Europa, and Porsche 911 SC Targa is also special. Great cars offer something unique for the driver, be it luxury like the Rolls Royce Wraith I recently tested, or in the case of the C3 Corvette, a light weight fiberglass automotive topeless sculpture with lots of brute power (for 1977) and a truly unique driving experience. The Tesla is also that sort of car for the different feelings it inspires in its driver! Check out my Tesla review elsewhere on RUclips. Thanks for watching and commenting! Really nice video man, trying to get this '77 with 64k on it, white with red interior, automatic, I'm in love with already, they asking for $8,900 you think is a good price or should I negotiate it and try to lower the price? Lil bit of rust on doors/inside panels but not big deal..
Soo.. my teachers neighbor has one of these for sale (specifically i think a 1980 Corvette stingray), and this is my dream car ... so what would u think the price would roughly be (it looks like good condition)
The price is all over the place from 6,000 to 14,000 I've even seen some for 20,000 if your a mechanic buy one with a good paint job since the engine is one of cheapest to modify otherwise look for one that has had a quality fuel injection system installed even if the body isn't that great fiberglass is cheap n easy to fix plus maaco paint jobs are about $600.
damianjones_art OK, so it may be too late having just found this post. Here’s the scoop, feel free to check my facts. 1. They don’t have a stingray in 1980, that ended in 1976. 2. 1980 vettes are considered one if not the least desirable years. They had a union strike at the assembly plant,so the cars were put together by people with no prior skills. It horribly affects the resale value to Corvette enthusiasts. Also look it up you will find an old Car & Driver article where it was voted worst car of the year in its class. Please don’t get me wrong I am a manor Vette lover. Just that some models are better than others. For instance some people dog the 1975 because it was the lowest horse power model since the early 1950,s . But so what that’s an easy fix, It was also the last year for a convertible for a long time. I would own a 75 in a heartbeat.
Stay away from 78 -81..the bubble rear window is hideous..and not well built..i just bought a 1976 and it's a real stingray ..turn key car mint shape 42,000 original miles..$5000.
A car like that in good condition is the type of car that you want to drive every day and when you sell it you regret forever

L82 has 6000 redline tach. Get rid of l82 emblems
Style and engine sound is 5/5 :-)
With that long front end doesn't the thing plow through the corners? That one isn't as bad as the later ones but I have to think the turn in can't be that great.
In my opinion the C3 is not a car that you blast through corners in. The steering effort is heavy, but it is really fun to drive despite it all. Big engine making lots of noise up front, the beautiful shape of the fiberglass body all around you, and if you happen to have the T Tops off, then you get to hear it all in stereo! I want one so bad lol
Thanks for watching and commenting! handles like a boat but it's def fun to drive and worth every penny (I paid $2700 for mine and it's a 4 speed)
Really nice video man, trying to get this '77 with 64k on it, white with red interior, automatic, I'm in love with already, they asking for $8,900 you think is a good price or should I negotiate it and try to lower the price? Lil bit of rust on doors/inside panels but not big deal..
There should not be any rust on the doors, their fiberglass...
Soo.. my teachers neighbor has one of these for sale (specifically i think a 1980 Corvette stingray), and this is my dream car
... so what would u think the price would roughly be (it looks like good condition)
@@marcoa7090 ok, thanks for the response! Much appreciated
Don't buy it! Only get the chrome bumper c3s
damianjones_art OK, so it may be too late having just found this post.
