i was hired at ross a while ago and i quit after my first day on the floor for exactly these reasons!! I was a security guard and did the whole rope thing at the door and it left such a bad taste in my mouth. We were basically trained to be profilers who treat every customer and employee as a potential thief, it was so exhausting. They said during the training not to profile people, but on my first day, they told me to keep an eye on customers who were POC or homeless, like what? Obviously yall, dont harass the workers, bring your concerns to managers and ask for complaint line phone numbers to share your concerns. Hopefully, if enough ppl speak up, they'll do something about it.

In front of the store at the cash register there is a sign that states: “California's Business and Professions Code § 12024.2 states that the correct price of any item is the lowest posted, quoted, or advertised price for which the buyer qualifies (club, coupon, minimum amount purchases, etc.). The store is responsible for removing expired shelf tags and sales signs.”
As an European, the shopping experience at Ross over there sounds like a total nightmare! The self checkout here is super fast, the lady standing there hands you over bags (if you don't bring yours from home, which is rare here), and she's the one watching people. There's no bag checking, no security guard, nothing. Even though I understand they may have their motives, it sounds tedious and embarrassing to have to go through all that.
