Honestly this kind of video will help kids to make the decision to join the army, it is actually more realistic than all those "super cool" battlefield commercials, at the end of the day nobody wants to die, and this personal story will help them see what is like to join the army and what kind of career they can choose. Thanks for your service bro! Great video!
I have felonies but i want to this. Would joining the army be the best way to get in or no? And if i join the army would i have to go over seas and fight in the war?
Beezy Talking Shit first of all if you have felonies you won’t be allowed to join any branch of the military. But it depends on if your mos is a combat mos like 11B. If it is then you have higher chances of deployment and a higher chance of casualties
You really inspired me with this video, I always had an inspiration and was always motivated to want to be a firefighter and now that I’m going to enlist in the army, I will definitely pick this as my decision
This is a great video for me thanks I’m currently 16 and am a cadet for my local department and plan to join the department full time until I leave for basic then i plan to serve full time as a 11b then transfer to being a firefighter in the national guard and work at my city fire department once I’m in the National Guard this helped so much
Thank you so much for this🙏🏽 Tomorrow I’m going in to take my ASVAB I’m 18 right now and have always wanted to be a firefighter. I have been in a program for juniors and seniors and man were my eyes opened with this video.
The state side guys at my department work 12 days a month too. I’m a weekend warrior firefighter though in the Air Guard. I’m taking EMT at my community college starting this month to help me land a fire job on the civilian side since EMT is pretty much a standard. Would be really cool to land a spot at my department working for the state or to even get hired at my airport.
I want to be a paid firefighter paramedic. I’m currently a volunteer fire. I go to a trade school (I’m still a senior in high school) for it and they made us take the ASVAB. I scored a 93 and now I’m torn between going to college to get my paramedic or join the Army as a Combat Medic or a firefighter
Hi Mr. Jackson, thank you for the very informative video about becoming a Fire Fighter. I am an Air Force vet and I'm trying to convince my son to join the Army National Guard (Just like you did) and train to be a FF. But I had a question regarding one thing. You said you joined right after you got your cert, but what would have happened if you got your BS degree from college before you joined? Would you move up the ranks faster? Would you start at a different pay? I was wondering what would be the benefit of getting a college degree. Again, thank you for your very informative video.
I went through the process of joining the Army last year as a FF (11M I believe) scored decent on my ASVAB but couldn’t get the spot so I ended up not joining at all.
I used to watch your videos dreaming of being a fireman when I got out the army, here I am 3 1/2 years later and it might be a dream come true, with the help of the lord, I’ll be one shortly
Going through b-emt at my community college right now, and fire science after my emt class. My class is full of military guys, mostly air force firefighters. I was thinking about trying to land a spot in the army firefighter mos, since my grandfather was in the army. He served during ww2, and korea. Hopefully my emt/fire science degree will help me get a 12m spot. I'm 24 years old lol I'll probably be 25 or 26 by the time I get in the army. Hopefully I'm not the oldest one when I go through bmt. Might just do reserves if 12m is possible there.
@@Boomy2nicce Ended up joining the Air National Guard, got back from my technical training in June. Saving up money for emt in January hopefully 🙏 life took me on a whole different path, but I still have that goal of becoming a firefighter in the civilian side.
Is this possible as part time reserve or active duty? Once out the military will this help assure you get hire in the fire department or how? Is this the army or National Army?
so if your federal firefighter (with the dod) your station and calls will only be on military bases / airfields ? . or do you get to respond to calls involving regular civilians in the city?
@@Rex32909 not true at all. Many military installations do auto aid or mutual aid to surrounding cities, towns etc. The vast majority of calls that you respond to on military installations are for BS calls, fire alarms, flight line stand by etc. very few actual fires, serious accidents or rescues. Becoming a firefighter in the guard or active duty is a very limited career field to get into. In the Army most installations do not utilize military firefighters they are civilian employees.

Why not just go directly to a local fore dept I think salary is higher
I'm a volunteer firefighter looking to join in the army as a firefighter
Kyle Reyes when is that happening?
Start putting yourself through Emt/AEMT classes that will put you ahead of the game paramedic is a requirement in most departments now
At my department, EMT is all that's required. But we're a part time department
And hazmat, departments love hazmat at any level.its required here in Arizona
You need a 88 on your general maintenance score on your asvab . Like he said the higher your total asvab score is the more jobs you’re offered.
but listen I got a 55 on my ASVAB and I'm in high school is that even close enough or do I need to take the big boy version of the ASVAB.

Do you enjoy being a firefighter on the guard side? I was looking at going into the air guard for security forces or fire protection.
You explained how you became a FF in the Army, then got a job in your town. Did you have to take the state test? Or did you apply- and they hired you?
How many days do you work in a week and is your work flexible and do you get to go home often ?

What was the starting pay for you, if you mind me asking. I live in The DMV area & im really thinking about being a firefighter.
same in the DMV,I've been wondering the same thing. but it isn't about the pay much for me. i just gotta know where to start

No unless u wish to serve the country and get military benefits. Besides that your starting pay will be dog shit. Really dogshit to be honest
