  • What is Pelvic Organ Prolapse?
Pelvic organ prolapse is a form of pelvic floor disorder where the muscles of the pelvic region get weak. The bladder can fall into the vagina, the rectum can fall into the vagina, the uterus can protrude to the outside of the vagina, the tip of the vagina can protrude to the outside and the bowel can protrude to the outside as well.
One out of two women past the age of 45 can experience some form of pelvic organ prolapse. Only 15% seek medical attention.
    What Causes Pelvic Organ Prolapse?
There are many causes for Pelvic Organ Prolapse such as aging, menopause, obesity, pregnancies, pelvic surgeries, working hard labor, lifting heavy things and chronic cough or COPD patients.
What are the Symptoms of Pelvic Organ Prolapse?
For pelvic organ prolapse there are some specific symptoms and some non-specific symptoms. The specific symptoms are when the patient comes to us and says, “Things are falling out” or I have a protrusion or a bulge or my partner is feeling a bump while we are intimate. The non-specific symptoms are when you have pelvic pain, when you have back ache and if these symptoms get worse towards the end of the day or when they get worse with coughing or exercise. When you have difficulty inserting a tampon or an estrogen crème applicator. Also if you have difficulty emptying your bladder or moving the bowel. If you have to do manipulation or movements to go to the bathroom, these are symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse.
How is Pelvic Organ Prolapse Diagnosed?
Pelvic Organ Prolapse is diagnosed with a simple pelvic exam that is done here in the office. It does not require any specific testing or tools to diagnose.
How is Pelvic Organ Prolapse Treated?
Pelvic Organ Prolapse can be treated in many ways. We can take the conservative approach by strengthening the pelvic muscles by using pelvic exercises and physical therapy. Or we can use the surgical approach and new advancements in minimally invasive procedures allow you to return to your daily living in a short period of time.
You do not have to suffer through this. We understand this can be embarrassing, but you have to talk to your doctor. To make an appointment with Dr. Zeineddine, visit www.chihealth....

There's more information on dogs with urethral prolapse on RUclips than women. RUclips did not show me one video on urethral prolapse for women. This is the only video that's relevant. Google search results were informative but the sites Google showed me did not distinguish between stages and treatment options....

Can it be treated without surgery after utheral prolapse bulge has appeared? When I had first symptoms, nps misdiagnosed me thought it was bv....3yrs yrs later medications still arent working and then the bulge appeared....

Alana, I have the same issues as you. My dumb gyno misdiagnosed me too. Now I have a bulge protruding through. And I myself, do not want any surgery. I hope I am not too late to have a non-surgical procedure done. Preferably have the pessary inserted. Or, something minor. Good luck!!

Hi dr, I’m 27 years old and haven’t been pregnant. My doctor prescribed me birth control pills 2 years ago because of acne problem. A month ago I noticed a ball inside my vagina... I have the urge to pee all the time.
Can I reverse uterine prolapse by making Kegel exercises? Do you recommend suspending the birth control pill? Does this affect if I want to get pregnant someday?

Question. Let's say you also have an IUD. If the uterus is moving. Is it possible that the IUD can fall out of place. And you might get pregnant?
No period for 6 weeks 😮

It's somewhat common with hormonal IUDs for periods to become lighter and less frequent. Also, you're supposed to check for the strings every month to make sure it IS still in place.

Hi! I had a complete pelvic reconstruction, hysterectomy, and prolapse repair a year ago, and I chronicled my recovery on a very rudimentary (and honest) RUclips channel. Check out PERSONAL PROLAPSE STORY if you’re looking for more info on what this surgery entails… and feels like. I hope to help women who were in my shoes pre-surgery.
