The JK SYSTEM snaffle bit is my answer to a pro-horse attitude in horse riding. It has been designed as a consequence of my longstanding experience both in riding horses and coaching riders. My mare Apokalipsa M, which, since I acquired her, has been displaying a habit of sticking out her tongue, and my collaboration with Krzysztof Skorupski, a Ph. D. veterinary doctor specializing in the psychology of horse training, who has shared with me his expertise and encouraged me to think about working with a horse innovatively, were the inspiration behind my looking for the most friendly solution to handling the horse’s mouth.
The JK SYSTEM bit is three-membered and made of leather. Thanks to its elasticity it adjusts itself anatomically to the horse’s mouth, which is essential as each horse has a mouth of a different shape. The bit design enables a unilateral interaction ( for instance when trying to get the horse to loosen its poll) without exerting stronger pressure on other parts of the mouth. The leather the JK SYSTEM bit is made of softens and becomes more flexible under the influence of saliva, which makes the horse feel comfortable and not afraid of leaning on the bit. Feeling comfortable in the mouth, the horse ceases to focus on defence against contact and concentrates better on the rider’s instructions.
