Angelina is one of the most addictive singers I have ever listened to, & one of the very few, that can pull you right into the song, making you feel, every word, every note, & every emotion. ❤️💙 I always have this feeling that Angelina is not only channeling some of these late great singers, but that they also pass through her, when she is singing their song ❤️💙 A rare beauty, in every sense of the word ❤️💙 Loved your reactions & please continue to review more of Angelina Jordan's music, and see how just amazing this young lady is!!!
I discovered Angelina about a year ago, she was in full beast mode for this song. She was age 9 in this song, check out the first time in a recording studio at age 6 singing "I Who Have Nothing". She is 15 as of 2021 and has been writing her own songs for a while now.
HEY PEOPLE, LAY OFF THE CRITICISM FOR THEM CUTTING THE VIDEO! I have followed them for years and they use to play full length videos with excellent commentary (especially from Marco [the guy with the hat] who has studied music. They got a lot of subscribers because they did an excellent job. Unfortunately, many of their reaction videos got taken down and they got copyright strikes, so they have to protect their channel. People have to follow RUclips rules; so people either interrupt constantly (which people complain about), cut the videos (which they have done )or distort them (worse choice), etc. Because of this , they now rarely do reaction videos to singers, which I and others miss a lot. If you look at their past reactions, they have done great reviews of great singers like Dimash, So Hyang, Morissette, Hua Chen You, Pentatonix, Home Free, etc. Marco spent the entire second half of this video recognizing Angelina's genius and performance. So give them some slack!

In Norways got talent she was 7 and now like 13. She sang Billie Holidays Gloomy sunday in audition and then she sang Im a fool to want you and Shot me down.

I've followed you guys for over a year now and love your reactions. I'm so glad you finally relented and checked out Angelina. Even now she is one of the best singers on the planet and she's only 13. The age is almost irrelevant with her. She said she only thinks about her true age when she sees her passport. She will always impress you. Rusty has dropped in a pretty complete bio in the comments below. She has a huge following and hasn't even been commercialized yet. I hope you will check out more of her performances, especially those on her own channel which are mostly done in her home studio.
Angelina put anger, hope, defiance, desperation and deep insatiable desire in her singing. That figure of an old man at the beginning is the author of that song, Screaming Jay Hawkins who wrote at the age of 26.
If you guys ever heard the CCR version, you will agree with me that boredom was the dominant emotion.

I think the best thing to do in order to understand this girls genius, is to start with her first audition when she was just 7. She is a very old soul .... a jazz singer... and one that will only get better
I'm so glad you got around to reacting to Angelina Jordan Astar. People recommend this song first, I think, because it is so dramatic, rather shocking for such a little girl, just blows everyone away, & gets them hooked. She does put a spell on you. Nobody has words enough to describe her. One of the beautiful things about her is her generosity. She is willing to share with her adoring public even some songs that are not very well-produced, which really allows us to track her progress as a singer. And yes, jazz is her first love. I hope she never deserts it. I'd love to see the great classics rediscovered through her.
She is fearless, willing to tackle anything she wants, even Whitney Houston & Queen. Nobody can cover Freddie Mercury, but I think even he would approve of her treatment of The Show Must Go On.
When you listen to A Million Years Ago, you will notice that she gets a couple of words wrong as she reads the lyrics. Just keep in mind that English is her third language, after Norwegian and Persian/Iranian. Her mother is Iranian & Japanese. I know nothing about her father other than his name, Gerry Christian Slaatman, or Slattman. Her Iranian grandmother is a respected painter in Norway.
I'm so so glad you finally got to her. I knew you would be blown away. Please please do more of her. She is getting better and better as she gets older (wow, "older", she's only 13 now, lol)

Since Angelina is new to you and maybe some of your followers, here's my quick bio on her:
*Angelina Jordan*
- Angelina Jordan was born in Jan 2006. She is currently 13 (barely 9 in this performance)
- She began singing at the age of one and a half
- At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through RUclips videos and studied all the greats from Jazz history.
- Angelina always sings barefoot..... When Angelina was 6, she was traveling and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. The girl complimented her on her pretty shoes, so Angelina took them off and gave them to the girl. She made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public she is barefoot. (that's a shortened version. the full story is more touching than the way I have told it here)
- She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the show at just 8 years old.
- In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the money, the 8 year old replied "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes"
- The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. They do not want her to be thrust into stardom before she has a chance to grow up as a normal child, and finish her education. They allow her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that come in. I have heard they have turned down offers from many record labels and even disney.
- Angelina has covered more than 100 songs over the last 6 years. She always selects the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else)
- Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, and many more. All of which heard her doing covers of their songs and were blown away.
- Angelina has written three of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield" and "Oslo". (all are amazing...all can be found on youtube)
In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a magical world in my head", and you can hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music.

Angelina Jordan has destroyed me. I've been listening and watching her for a couple years now and cannot go a single day without her. There are probably 100+ videos of her out there. Dear Lord, you have to hear everything she has done. She sang Billie Holiday "Gloomy Sunday" at age 7 and made the judges cry on Norway's Got Talent. She blew them away on "The View" on her first trip to the U.S. She is considered Norway's national treasure. You have sooo much to learn grasshoppers!

Oh grasshopper did you just age yourself LOL. She is a National Treasure. I too cannot get enough of her, starting at age 6 apparently on tour giving her sneakers away to somebody without and then I'm at a loss for words. Angelina is fast becoming one of the finest jazz singers. Watch her sing the songs of Sinatra, Fitzgerald, Holiday etc: as far as the video is concerned you watched a heavily edited version. Her version of Gershwin's Summertime is brilliant as is her version of Ella Fitzgerald's 'Every time we say say goodbye.'
And the musicians with her; I mean, she needs the very best you can get. And here they are...And, yes, she makes old songs her own, her very own. She sings them anew. Finally, she honoured the original version in the voice of Screamin' Jay Hawkins by holding a candle with his face on it. Respect.
Angelina has a unique and natural talent. She impresses without even trying. At only 13 now, she is producing such amazing music. You need to watch others - Born to Die or A Million Years Ago, or Fly me to the Moon, or Feeling Good...I could go on.
A song is not really sung until Angelina sings it .she is the Angel from Norway that doe not just cover a song she prefects them like no other can.

Hi guys. Thanks for reacting, finally, to Angelina Jordan. I've been watching her since she was 7 years old and she won Norways Got Talent singing very old Billie Holiday blues songs. A couple of videos by her that I can recommend are... A Million Years Ago ( better than Adele!!! ) and Everytime We Say Goodbye... I personally believe that she is the most talented youngster around at the moment. She takes a song and completely makes it her own... You really should react to more of her.... PLEASE!!!

Listening to almost one hundred diffent songs she did, she is got a wonderful team of good musicians. Also she always has her own dominance of her own signature. It is not the style of the musicians, it is her style. Every time.
Angulina can sing anything. If you pull her name up on utube no matter what it is it will be extraordinary. There's one or two early songs where audience noise is a bit bad but never because she was off. Shes allways astonishing.
Check out the original by Screamin' Jay Hawkins. She was copying that one, rather than later covers. Before watching her more recent stuff (she was 9 here), even more amazing was her audition on Norway's Got Talent, where she sang a Billie Holiday song, "Gloomy Sunday" at 7 yrs old, and captured some of Holiday's mannerisms. Similarly, on Holland's got talent, a 9yr old Amira Willighagen stunned everyone by singing an opera song she learned from RUclips. Both she and Angelina won their competitions.

It was a Screamin Jay Hawkins version as you can see the face of great Screamin Jay on the mug she's holding at the start of the video. And btw that is the original one. That thing is hard to cover but she did it like it was nothing, superbly. And with a little touch of her own style.
Angelina is an old soul. She's a jazz singer mainly but can do almost any genre. She's tagged as the reincarnation of the great artists of before. She's very much into music. Her music I.Q. at a very young age is insane. She do the arrangement of most if not all of her performances and can play a number of instruments.

Why did you skip parts of this? You need to hear the while piece! I always watch reaction videos that do this song and I'm disappointed that you only did highlights.
You guys are doing disservice to A.J and to your viewers by cutting out the video. It's almost like you are dismissing her performance because of of previous bias to age . Her fans are trying to tell you that this girl transcends all ages and several genres of music and by not playing that song to it's entirety makes me wonder if you only did a reaction to get subscriptions from her massive fan base.

I've followed them for years and they re excellent. Unfortunately they rarely do reaction videos because of videos being taken down and copyright strikes.

She is at her best when she is only accompanied by a guitar ( Ivan or Egil). Her "a capella of I'm a fool to want you" at the audition when she was 7 is also fantastic.

I agree with you that Angelina has more talent in her little finger than all the "talentless hip hop losers on the radio". However, your paint brush is too broad because there are other talented singers around, I follow the careers of several of them on RUclips.Let me name them. First of all opera and classical singing -Amira Willighagen (bn 2004), Laura Bretan, (bn 2002), Patricia Janeckova (bn 1998) and Sterre van Boxtel (bn2005), and then Popular music - Charlotte Summers (bn 2005), Connie Talbot (bn 2000), Courtney Hadwin (Bn 2004), Jayden Rilee (bn 2006) and Krisia Todorova (bn 2004). Each of them have their strengths and on most occasions I find them pleasant to listen to. However, having said that, Angelina is by far the only one who constantly surprises me with her ability and has never disappointed me with her performance. She is truly "one of a kind".
Just a little advice, and I know I speak for all the Angelina's fans here when I say: Don't skip ANY parts on Angelina's videos, even though I really loved your comments and appreciate the fact that you were blown away by that, still, it willl not be a healthy practice for your channel, believe me, nobody will be bothered by watching her entire videos over and over since I can assure you we have watched this video with so many times with other reaction videos, that I have lost count and I can tell you that based on the comments I have read so many times from so many of her fans and I've come to realize that I'm getting familiar with a lot of names from her fans, names that I can see in many other videos over and over and I'll tell you they are hundreds of videos played hundreds of times, so please help us help you with your channel and instead of having maybe around 3 minutes or less of her video after cutting off so many parts to make it shorter and 10 minutes talking, I'd rather want this to be the other way around and I bet is not just the way I feel but many others as well, just a positive thought for you guys, you will see the difference.

Welcome to the world of Angelina. There are about one hundred different covers on you tube, and personally I think there are less than 5 that is not brilliant. The best are on her official and cover channel, but there are also some amazing concert videos from Boris Pavelonski. Even if he is not a professional he has managed to capture some extraordinary moments. So when reacting to a recommendation try first the ones on her own channels, if not they are probably on the channel of Boris. I hope you will do a lot of reactions in the weeks to come
On Norways got talent she sang nothing songs from the late 30’s to the mid 60’s, she won the show at 8 receiving 46% of the vote out of the final 10 contestants.
Guys, I love Home Free, but, you really need to get back to Angelina Jordan Astar, start with her at 7 winning Norways got talent. The latest is the Americas Got Talent Champions doing her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody.

Her mom has put the breaks on and has not signed her to anyone even Disney wanted her and her mom said no. She stayed in Norway went to regular school and took vocal lessons. However, I have heard that they were moving to LA to pursue more vocal lessons. She wears no shoes because of profound experience in India with a street girl when she was 6 or 7 and gave her own shoes to her. Now she doesn't wear shoes while singing for those children, she even wrote a book about it and it was published.
9:48, The songs that she sang on the talent show that she was in, which was Norway's Got Talent, were the opposite of "generic". She auditioned with Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday". Then she proceeded to sing more classic songs which were "I'm a fool to want you", "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" and "Summertime".

Oh, just one more thing. You mention her sounding a bit off key sometimes. There is a time-honored technique in jazz singing, especially from the '40s, '50s, & '60s, of hitting a note slightly flat, then gliding up to the proper pitch. It gives more "color" & interest to the song, makes it sound more jazzy. I think you can hear it sometimes in Sinatra's recordings. I'm not sure that she does that, but it could be. Will need to listen for it. She knows her jazz!

this song is much better and cleaner -for some reason your video actually skipped part of song. anjelina plays violin,guitar,piano and flute in addition to writing own music.her 4 songs in norways got talent were 2 billie holiday (gloomy sunday and i'm a fool to want you) nancy sinatra(BANG,BANG)and "summertime' by george gershwin in finale.the competition was over after 1st song...
