      @@joewhitehead3 Taking a guilty plea is always less time than lying about a crime and trying to falsely plead innocent. You get extra time for wasting the time of the court, the jury, and any investigators assigned the case. A guilty plea by its definition is asking for reduced time on your sentence in exchange for waiving your right to a trial which costs the government money. Without it you get the maximum amount of time allotted for whichever crime, obstruction of justice for wasting police resources, and lastly wasting the courts/jurors time. Just the act of lying can turn a 1 year max crime into a 5 year minimum, which is the difference between being in a low security jailing facility and a prison. The same 1 year minimum with a guilty plea could be 6 months on good behavior.

    Not AT ALL the point but as someone who was given a ketamine infusion while in the hospital for breakthrough pain, I can confirm that you have no clue what is happening while you’re on it. My eyes were open and I was staring at the curtain which had completely morphed into a second-by-second REAL TIME replay of my day, but from 5 feet BEHIND myself. I remember the entire experience and coming to as the drugs wore off. I have had a couple ketamine infusions since for similar reasons and had very colorful hallucinations the rest of the times. But seriously, NO CLUE what was happening around me. Apparently at one point during an infusion I had labs drawn and imaging done. Another time the attending, residents and med students all came in since I appeared to be fully awake but wouldn’t respond which wasn’t a typical reaction lol. Afterwards the attending came in and he told me he’d never seen that before and people either fall asleep, or get chatty but clearly not in reality.
    But yeah. The whole ketamine thing is sadly legit and sadly used in this exact manner.

    @darkmask5933 2 года назад +147

    Remember folks, the police are not there to be your buddy, and they aren't there to make sure you get a "good deal" for helping them. It doesn't matter if your innocent or guilty, a cop has zero authority to follow-through with the "deals" they promise, the best they can do is offer a recommendation if you play nice, and even then they are not obligated to. Its up to the attorneys how they want to prosecute you, not "good cop, bad cop". You are not a "bad person" because you refuse to speak to the police without a lawyer present, you do not have to admit to something you didn't do or sign something for them to let you go. Shows like this always like to make the cops look like "super good guys" cause the people they go against are cartoonishly evil, but a cop should not be stalking you to where you work or where you relax, and they shouldn't be there taunting you.

    I understand the rich kid was absolutely horrid and deserved to be thrown behind bars...but Jesus the police officers (especially the female) was pushing it...if i were that rich kid, the moment that female detective showed up to that club and poured that drink on me, i'm immediately contacting my attorney and reporting it and filing a formal complaint to the department.
    Now im not a lawyer, but from just that one scene alone, that female detective committed a number of infractions:
    -Harassment: Knowingly approached the suspect of an ongoing trial without just cause and perhaps attempting to provoke with conversation
    -Intimidation: Flashed her badge to scare of the people around the rich guy
    -Assault: Pouring the drink on the rich kid
    -Vandalism of private property: Knew that the specific alcohol would stain the guys shirt (which given that he is rich, can only assume the clothes weren't cheap...)
    -Conduct unbecoming of a police officer: That entire display was completely unwarranted and unprofessional, and it made it even worse when she flashed the badge, thus indicating she was under the authority of the police
