- Hi, I spent 24 hours in an amazing Polish city, that may not be as well known as a few others that are in the country.
It was a really great experience taking in history, culture, cuisine, and scenery. There were also a few messy moments that sometimes occur on a night out.
If you never been to Poland before, I totally recommend putting it on your bucket list.

I was there 3 years ago. It was great.
It's a city I would love to revist
If you want to see a beautiful city where every brick remembers the good old past, visit Cracow or Toruń. Both are stunning.
as a Pole I must emphasize the fact that Gdańsk was under Polish rule for significantly longer than under German rule, ok it was during the times of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth that Gdańsk developed the most and experienced its golden age
For over a thousand years of its history, the city of Gdańsk was part of:
997-1227: Duchy/Kingdom of Poland
1227-1294: Duchy of Pomerania
1294-1308: Duchy/Kingdom of Poland
1308-1454: Teutonic Order
1454-1466: disputed lands during the Thirteen Years' War
1466-1569: Crown of the Kingdom of Poland
1569-1793: Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth
1793-1807: Kingdom of Prussia
1807-1814: Free City of Gdańsk (dependent on the French Empire)
1815-1871: Kingdom of Prussia
1871-1918: German Empire German Empire
1918-1920: Republic Weimar (in the dispute between Poland and Germany)
1920-1939: Free City of Danzig Free City of Danzig (under the protectorate of the League of Nations)
1939-1945: Third Reich of Nazi Germany (Danzig-West Prussia)
1945-1989 People's Republic of Poland (1952-1989 Polish People's Republic)
1989-present: Poland Republic of Poland.
@arkadiuszarczi1559 Yes indeed, and the whole thing combined just makes the history more exciting to learn about
@arkadiuszarczi1559 BTW, thank you so much for that wealth of information you have shared
In 1793, Gdansk found itself in Prussian hands for many years as a result of the partitions of Poland carried out by Prussia, Austria-Hungary and Russia.

That gentleman was from Ukraine:)
Who?
3:27 te osoby na ławeczce są z Ukrainy. Tak powiedział ten mężczyzna po ukraińsku.
Ahh thanks for explaining that
I had just come from Ukraine when I made this video
I posted a few Ukrainian videos about my trip
It was an interesting experience
When in Gdańsk you should visit KL Stuthoff. Very close to Gdańsk
Thanks for the tip
Tylko po co odwiedzać takie miejsce? To tak jakby urządzać wycieczki do rzeźni. Chyba że kogoś to podnieca .
@@tomaszbudnik2755 I thought it was a nice city
@@MorgansWorld760he meant concentration camp Stutthof
@@tomaszbudnik2755I love history and have visited Aushwitz before
Kraków is more historical and romantic.
@WTGibbons I did a vlog on Krakow, too, on this channel, and you could be right. It's up for interpretation
@@MorgansWorld760 Sure, agree
I am a citizen of gdansk since 1986, these days unfortunately old town of gdansk turns into red light district. it was not always so :(

Thanks for watching. I have actually been to Warsaw before , and then when I left Gdansk, I might have ended up in Warsaw. It's a long story, but I don't want to spoil it,as it will be in my next video
Hope you can watch it
