- This is my first reaction to Lara Fabian siging Vocalise (Ascolta la Voce).
I've heard Dimash cover of the song, but not Lara,s version which Dimash was covering/inspired by.
I adore Lara, I love her voice and her presence on stage. Such a LADY.

She whispers the command, in English it is "listen to the voice," and how could we not? She is absolutely perfection. Since she is Canadian, I can't understand why Celine Dion is so famous, yet Lara Fabian is relatively unknown in the U.S. Celine has a beautiful voice and performs vocal gymnastics, but Lara is so perfect, understated in this song. Thank you for your reaction. It's no wonder Dimash loves her and used her as a benchmark for his performance of this song. (Patricia, Jerry's wife)

Even though I like Céline and I love Lara, it's not Celine's fault that Lara is so little known in the USA... Celine's late husband and Tommy Motolla made sure they screw Lara's career in the USA... René was very influencing in music industry, even in the USA, and he forced Motolla to quit on her... She recorded Lara Fabian (1999), her first album in English (it was her 4th album) and Motolla was the producer. He said that "we have already one Céline Dion, we don't need two." They screwd her up, both... Another record label wanted her to sing shitty plastic music to please the american market and she refused... of course... What is even stupider is that european market is way smaller that USA market and Europe was big enough for both, but in the USA they have that annoying habit of considering this or that singer a "queen" or a "godess" , always competing! I'm glad that in Canada people love Lara!

I mean, she can sing in any language or not even say a word, only her voice goes right through me. This song is transcendental.

If there’s anyone in the world I would want to co-headline a concert with Dimash, it would be Lara. We got a small taste of it with on the song Ti Amo Cosi along with Aida but having the two of them sharing the stage for a full concert would be amazing! One can imaging the two doing a duet on many songs together including Vocalise. Enjoyed watching this one. Thanks Sabina!

Dear Sabina 🌷 I do love this song, Lara sings it so sensually. It evokes the feeling of someone remembering a love affair. Unfortunately Lara Fabian is not widely known in USA even though she is so accomplished.

Sabina first people have to hear about Dimash. The Dears community is so great that we take it for granted that everyone knows about Dimash ... that is sadly not the case.

I find it disrespectful that Dimash fans come to Lara Fabian's videos just to say that Dimash is better, there is something for everyone, so have respect for this wonderful artist that is Lara Fabian.
If you notice the pictures shown on large screen behind orchestra, it depicts some of the stills from a movie compilation Mm. Zhivago. It’s brilliant. She stars in each story along with her songs.

@@Danydanielballet Exacto. En una canción no es necesario pulsar todas las teclas del piano. Dimash es grandioso en su rango vocal, pero no necesita demostrarlo a cada momento. Su interpretación en "ti amo cosi" fue perfecta y no necesitó fuegos artificiales.

I love lara but i prefer dimash in this vocalise..because lara less power and agility to make the vocalise flow like water..and she sing 'dedededede',im more comfortable listen 'ahhhhh' phrasing from dimash..so calm and beautiful and dimash take this to next level with stacatto,breathy voice,powerful belting,low note ascolta la voce that make me goosebump..but lara did a goodjob 👍
Hi from Uruguay! It's always so nice to watch your reactions! I got to know Lara Fabian after Dimash. This video was the first time I watched and listened to her. I just wasn't able not to compare both artists. Dimash put the bar so high regarding this particular song, that I felt Fabian was lacking something and couldn't get the high notes I thought the song had. I know it was Dimash who took it to a higher level, but, Fabian didn't get so deep in my heart as Dimash did. Greetings! Stay safe!

Dimash took dozens of performance cues from Lara, because her version works so well. But there's one cue he didn't take. Lara introduced some delays in the vocalise, then scurried to catch up to the orchestra. Dimash sang it straight.
Stylistically, I prefer Dimash's interpretative choice, avoiding those delays.
Lara also doesn't use her range to tear our socks off and beat us over the head with them. Because she doesn't have the range for it? Not sure what her limits are.
Dimash does exploit his full range when interpreting the vocalise. I'm missing my socks and my head hurts! But it's a glorious hurt.
Lara has some vocal techniques I've never heard nor seen elsewhere, mainly in how she uses her lips. She executes many small shifts in lip shape during her performances, and in this one, she does it during the humming portion of the vocalise. Mouth closed, but those lips are mobile as hell. What does she get out of that in her sound? I have no idea, but I'm not dumb enough to assume it has no value. She's just so far beyond my comprehension, I don't understand why she's doing what she's doing.
Lara's stage presence has few peers.
All in all, Lara Fabian is a wonderful performer and vocalist, sure in her mastery of her instrument, engaging and hypnotic. It's no wonder Dimash admired her in his youth and loves to cover songs she has performed.

Somebody in youtube makes a mash-up duet of Lara and Dimash on this song, and the delay technique Lara did made it works in it, and they seems to complement each other beautifully, it’s just soooo gorgeous❤️
@@sabina1118 The purpose of a vocalise is to warm up the voice, so you run the vocal apparatus through multiple exercises, including humming, tongue action, etc.
This piece takes the vocalise and makes it art. Fabian bends her colour to match the instruments currently playing the line. Brilliant & subtle.
As for the timing, playing with it as she does is my preference. It makes the ebb & flow between her instrument & the other instruments much more dynamic, imo.
Dimash and her is good, but I prefer Dimash's version because of his crazy run.

I already knew this version of the song. Lara performed beautifully, but nobody can compete with the voice, range, musical textures and virtuosity of Dimash.
Dimash's version (especially New Wave version) have a crazy range crescendo during the song and an insane climax, but Lara's crescendo and climax were more limited.

I know everyone likes Lara.i think she has a pretty voice but I really don’t like watching her. The facial expressions and movements seem very awkward. I’ve watched her sing before and thought the same thing. I’m just not a fan.
I can see where you from. But Sabina put it right. She used to be in genuine state of trance when performing.
