I was about Calvin's age when I left the Philippines to come to the UK. Even though I consider the UK my home now because I've lived here most of my life, my heart will always belong to the Philippines 💛
You reminded me when we left the Philippines for Canada over a decade ago. Hindi nag sink in sa amin na for good na naming iniwan ang Pilipinas until makarating kami ng Pearson airport and the officer said Welcome to Canada. It was not so sad kasi na-reunite kami with my mother who had been working in Canada for a few years before we came and marami rin kaming kamag-anak sa Canada. Madali for us na mag-adjust because we had all the support we needed. I can’t imagine the struggles of those starting out and sila lang talaga. Despite being with family and happily living in Canada, namimiss ko pa rin ang Philippines from time and time kaya I make it a point to visit every couple of years.
I came here in Ottawa, Ontario. To be exact it was 3am when I landed on Oct 2, 2010. I had no place to stay at first so I spent 600 plus for hotel in 1 week. Been by myself since then. NOT easy but I’m doing my best to make things work.
I wasn't expecting to cry. I know the feeling of leaving for the first time. I have been in the US for 13 years and I hate the feeling of leaving the Philippines Everytime especially saying goodbye to families.

This made me cry. It reminded me when I have to leave the Philippines with my son who was only 7 years old then. He has no idea what’s going on, he thought we were just going on a vacation. 11years after, we will be going back home this year to see my nanay and tatay. God willing.💕🙏🏼💕
so heart warming, I cried. As we have been there when we left in the 80's but it never changes, the same feelings. Canada is great country , I love Canada, and your son will have the all opportunities in the world.
