Welcome to my unboxing of the Pilot Parallel 3.8mm calligraphy pen.. in this video I actually struggled to get the ink to flow, but that's because the cartridge wasn't behaving correctly and not the fault of the pen.. anyway, it was a great opportunity to show you how to rectify the problem (using a paper clip!!)
I mostly use these pens for teaching Gothic Blackletter (both Textura Quadrata and Fraktur).. in this video I am unboxing and assembling the 3.8mm pen (green lid), and this is by far the most popular size with my students, followed by the 6mm (blue lid). The smaller ones, 1.5mm (red lid) and 2.4mm (yellow lid) are a little small for Gothic..
No matter which size you prefer the unboxing and assembling is exactly the same. Hope you find it helpful!

I just received (one hour ago) my first Pilot Parallel and was looking for an unboxing video. Thanks from the future...it's so helpful to get someone's hands-on honest experience. This is the pen I have been looking for. I've got a feeling I need to make room for one or two more. ;)
A lot of the internet sure is silly stuff but aren't we fortunate that technology has enabled us to bring teachers from everywhere, even the past, to teach us. To me, that's the best part of it.

Is there a way to switch between ink cartridges or you need to wait until one runs out to use the other?
What I do is take out the cartridge and put some putty (Prestik or Blu Tack) over the opening to seal it.. keep it in an upright position somewhere (like in a small cup).. then put a new cartridge into your pen and continue writing (rinse out the pen first if you don’t want mixing between the previous ink colour and the new colour. Your old cartridge should keep for a while as long as the mouth of the cartridge is sealed
