Great informative video. Good to see it from this perspective, a lot of the other tutorial videos have a hard time filming the actual installation of the lights into the headlight itself. So using this video and how others get access to said sockets really makes it easy to install. Keep it up 👍
Thanks for the positive feedback! Considering it’s not really a straight forward installation either, you’re using left trying to remove the old bulb with one hand, so it’s good to actually see how the clip actually holds it in etc. I do need to do another one of installation on the car as well for people to see from that perspective too. Thanks again!
Thanks for the great video ... This is great even for just demonstrating how the halogen globes fit into the headlight frame - how the H7 clips etc work - cheers!
Hi Mitch, thanks for the video. although a few years old now it's relevant. i would like to upgrade all my front headlights on a sv6 commodore ute. However in the past i've attempted to install the LED turning signals and they end flashing quicker due to the lower voltage. Do the lights you sell prevent this fault from happening?
@@tyleryoung4826 Hi mate, LED turn signals in these cars must be canbus compatible. The computer looks for load on the indicator circuit, which if your LEDs are not canbus compatible the car won’t see the bulbs there hence the hyperflash and error. I have canbus compatible LED turn signals on our website switchbacklighting.com.au you’ll need T20 Amber -Canbus in the indicator section.
Hi Scott, thanks for your comment. That particular lightbar was from 4wd Supacenter. Although any lightbar (22” and under) will fit. We stock some of our own lightbars now that which I’ve since replaced on my VF. If you’d like some photos on mounting, feel free to send us a message on Facebook or send me an email (mitch@switchbacklighting.com.au) It’s just bolted to the reo bar behind the grille.
Great vid, very helpful. I'm thinking of only upgrading the high beam and I'm currently running a 14in lightbar. Can I run the led high beam and the light bar, without the canbus ?
Hello Peter, In the VY SS and Calais they don’t leave much room for bulbs. It will also depend on what LEDs you purchased as well as every model is a different size and has different sized fans on the back. Sometimes you can tweak the clearance with the outer headlight adjustment screws on the back of the headlight which may create the clearance you need.
Need to upgrade with a decent LED for starters. Many don’t perform well in the VF headlights As for adjusting, there’s two white adjustments on the back of the headlight, turn the inner one and it will adjust your up and down.
@@shaneo375 That means they’re not canbus compatible either. I would be looking elsewhere for a decent set of LEDs that are actually compatible. We have options on our website, switchbacklighting.com.au if interested.
Way to leave out the ONLY part that's of any difficulty, which is actually getting access to the globes when installed on a car, especially the drivers side. And leaving out how you remove the whole headlight assembly in the first place. Mate. Swapping the globes themselves is child's play what was the use of this video?
Looking at doing a video on that when we get another VF in for an LED conversion. Purpose of the video is how to install our LEDs and Canbus modules and how it all hooks up. Just remember, swapping bulbs over isn’t “child’s play” for everybody and we get endless questions on how to do that to start with. The whole headlight assembly doesn’t need to be removed to install the globes, hence why I didn’t show how to remove them in the video.
If you are after a detailed tutorial on how to access the bulbs there’s a dozen videos here on RUclips that show the exact process of this and I encourage you to go and do that if you’re not sure how to do it :)

hey mate do you have to take the front bumper off to to take the actual headlight out from the body?
No. Access Low beam and indicator through wheel guard liner. High beam, and Parker’s access from engine bay.
Super helpful. Just purchased for my VF . So easy watching the vid . Can you help with my wife’s Hyundai Tuscan looking to do the same . THAN YOU
Hi John,
Thanks,
What year is the Hyundai?
2016
It’s the 30th anniversary one

Yes you can mate, high beam is not monitored on the canbus system in the VF

Hey mate great video, I am wondering if the same bulbs and install process is relevant for my 2010 VE SSV Ute. Cheers Andy
Gday mate, same process minus the canbus decoder as they’re not needed for VE. All bulbs can be accessed pretty easily from the engine bay.
@@switchbackledlightingaustr5007 Thanks heaps 👍
How's it going bro.. how do you keep both lights on? Like your normal headlights and the bottom ones on at the same time man? Cheers
You need a Custom DRL Harness.

I was under the impression the bulbs for projector lights were H7??
As per the video, they are H7 for this vehicle.
Not all makes and models of projectors are H7.
