  • Tony Bennett - I Got Lost In Her Arms - What Are You Afraid Of - I Left My Heart in San Francisco (1987 TV Live)
    ----------
I Got Lost In Her Arms
Don’t ask me just how it happened
    I wish I knew
    I can’t believe that it’s happened
    And still it’s true
I got lost in her arms and I had to stay
It was dark in her arms and I lost my way
From the dark came a voice and it seemed to say
There you go, there you go
How I felt, as I fell, I just can’t recall
But her arms held me fast and it broke the fall
And I said to my heart as it foolishly
Kept jumping all around I got lost
    But look what I found
    -------------
    What Are You Afraid Of
    Come a little closer
    Stay a little longer
    Now the gang is gone
    Put Sinatra on
    What are you afraid of?
    Make yourself at home now
You know you can trust me
    If I dim a light
    Since the fire's bright
    What are you afraid of?
Who's to know you let yourself go
    A kiss or so astray
    High, oh the merrier
Blame it on the stereo all the way
    Baby, take your shoes off
    We're not going dancing
Kiss me like before, let the fire roar
Throw another pillow on the floor
Learn what love is made of
    What are you afraid of?
    High, oh the merrier
Blame it on the stereo all the way
    Baby, take your shoes off
    We're not going dancing
Kiss me like before, let the fire roar
Throw another pillow on the floor
Learn what love is made of
    What are you afraid of?
    Put Sinatra on
    Now the gang is gone
    Do it one more time
    ----------------
I Left My Heart in San Francisco
The loveliness of Paris seems somehow sadly gray
The glory that was Rome is of another day
I've been terribly alone and forgotten in Manhattan
I'm going home to my city by the Bay
I left my heart in San Francisco
High on a hill, it calls to me
To be where little cable cars climb halfway to the stars
The morning fog may chill the air, I don't care
My love waits there in San Francisco
Above the blue and windy sea
When I come home to you, San Francisco
Your golden sun will shine for me

This is our song. Married forty years this year, every anniversary since we discovered this gem by Tony we dance to it. Much thanks to Tony and the orchestra. Simply classic!

Tony at his absolute best. I Got Lost In Her Arms - outstanding vocal, arrangement. No words ❤️. Perhaps on par with the LIVE performance of Why Do People Fall In Love, which features bonus (lost) verse/lyrics. Only wish Tony & Danny would get Columbia to release a special Art of Excellence Deluxe album that includes that recording. Surely it exists. Bravo!

I discovered this song on a 1986 Ford demo cassette. Perhaps one the greatest love songs of all time.

Ha! I remember. A gal I dated at the time bought a Thunderbird and had that same cassette. I told her that song was worth more than the car. Tony. Pure gold. Saw him in ‘86 and he performed it LIVE. I will never forget it.

I Got Lost in Her Arms- Irving Berlin (1946) I first heard this American songbook gold nugget by the late jazz pianist & singer, Shirley Horn & when 'Tony Bennett performed at a Summer evening concert at the Hollywood Bowl in the '90s the Shirley Horn Trio opened the show & Shirley sang this lush standard to the Bowl's delight as Tony does here... & Tony must have sung 6-7 additional encore songs that indelible Summer evening at the Hollywood Bowl

Maybe he is the conductor of the TVE (Spanish Public Television) orchestra, since this was recorded for that TV channel.
