    A quick little tip: After you fire a torpedo at a ship you can immediately start flooding a new tube before switching to a new target which let's you save a few seconds if you need want to get torpedoes out a little faster

  • @bobgary6150
    @bobgary6150 4 года назад +8

    Are you a reincarnation of a U-Boat commander? This is the ultimate guide to planning an attack - it is far easier to follow than the actual Kriegsmarine guide. A convoy usually goes at the same speed as the slowest but what would you do with zig-zaging vessels

    • @RedDragon_1211
      @RedDragon_1211  4 года назад +3

      Hmmm? I have not developed a definitive solution to zig zagging vessels. Typically the convoy is small like this one and I can eliminate it with one salvo of torpedoes. I will have to think about that one...🤔

    • @brettclark4276
      @brettclark4276 2 года назад

      I was told, but have not confirmed yet, that when ships are weaving, just reduce the speed in the attack screen by 1/2 knots and try to time it so that when they begin to turn towards you, that’s when you fire

    How do you know when to launch? I have several hundred hours in SH4. In Sh4, I'm on the periscope, watching the target, and launching at a very precise time. In your video, after setting the target parameters, you just launch??

    Thanks for the video.
    Question: can all the measurements be done using map tools? Such as distance and speed as well? If so, how?
    Question number 2: All the tutorials I've seen on RUclips are typically done in the most favorable weather, so it's easier to use the periscope tools to get the measurements. What if we catch a convoy at 2 am? It's quite hard to see, any tutorial planned for the night attacks or any tips?

      Sorry for the late reply. I plan on doing some updates on this video very soon! My new COVID-19 Schedule has thrown me for a bit of a loop. The short answers to your questions are this.
      1: Yes you can estimate speed and distance on the map. I have been practicing this and plan to get a video out on in soon!
      2: This is sort of related to question one. if you know how to find the course, speed, and distance in the map you could theoretically plot a target without using the periscope (only Hydrophone). I plan to go over this as well.
      Thanks for the questions and I look forward to answering them soon!

      Speed is not too bad to calculate, but you need a stopwatch in hand (so you'll need to quickbutton periscope view - map tool, or use a real one. Some mods let you have a stopwatch in the map, like the TDC mod).
      This is if your interface is set to nautical miles and speed into knots: Draw a mark anywhere in the ship and start the stopwatch. Wait 3 mins, 15 sec (time to travel 1 nmi at 10 knots), mark at the same point of the ship again, and use the ruler tool to determine distance between the two points. You multiply by ten (so if the ship travels 0.6 nmi, his speed would be 0.6*10=6 knots). If you are in a hurry, you can measure half the time, which is 1 min and 27 sec, and multiply the final result by 2.
      If you use are not using nautical miles, 1 nmi= 1.85km and 1.15 miles, but the less math you do, the more precise the results will be, as you are using real numbers, not integers.
      Distance is super easy using the ruler tool.

    Question : when I have entered manual targeting (speed, distance, course), the numbers become green. How do I cancel manual targeting after that to come again in crew targeting, the numbers don't change. I didn't find that... Thanks !

  • @AlexS-tg9on
    @AlexS-tg9on 4 года назад +3

    Hello. Great video! Do you have to position your boat respective to each target (90 degrees or so) before you fire a torpedo or does the crew do it automatically for you?

    • @RedDragon_1211
      @RedDragon_1211  4 года назад +1

      No, you do not have to "point" the Tubes at your target to ensure an accurate torpedo. The torpedo will leave your boat and turn to travel down the bearing you assigned it to. this is 100% not realistic but the game would be much more difficult if you had to align all the shots this way. it would be nice to see them implement this as an optional setting for the "hardcore" players similar to Realistic Night, Full FPP, and Harcore Aiming.

    Can you give orders like a skipper? Y'know, like 'Man the bridge' and what-not, so when you surface you can set proper watch. 'Rig to dive' and 'Battle stations' would be cool, too. Sorry if I've already missed this stuff, new to the channel...
