I know this comment is ancient but omg same. I watched that movie 25 years ago and still remember that breaking-in scene. Searched far and wide for the song online and gave up because it didn’t exist anywhere. This is my first time hearing it since then. Kinda gives me chills tbh, what a gorgeous song.
7even ...... I have this on repeat since i first saw the movie on a local theatre...and the day after i bought the soundtrack.... Λατρεμένο "Μετρόπολις".... Λατρεμένοι κινηματογράφοι..............
60's singers blow these new mainstream ones out of the water xD i think i heard this on a movie or tv show recently and was like 'holy snap!!' lovely voice!
She has a rather elegant way of strutting through certain songs like this. She also has that Della Reese manner of putting over most of her material, which is always highly listenable.
Speaking of happiness You never thought of mine Mentioning loneliness I feel lonely all the time Ever since you went away After swearing we would never part There was nothing I could say Who could talk with a broken heart Speaking of happiness Why did it have to leave Speaking of faithlessness Why couldn't you just believe I love you so very much How could anything really go wrong With the magic of your touch And your love to keep me strong Speaking of happiness Where did it ever go Did it leave with your caress And the tenderness I used to know Or is it right before my eyes Like a blessing in disguise Speaking of happiness Why don't we try it one more time Speaking of happiness Why don't we try it one more time Speaking of happiness
I remember this from a Ford TV ad back in the late ‘90s. Sadly, the original is not available on any of the streaming services - only an awful new remix.
Yes me ! The bar scene where brad Pitt & morgan Freeman discuss about life, one of my favorite scene of the movie, I was looking for that song for a long time now I found it, I’m so happy. great song !
@@laureprowin9232 Yeah, I am watching the film for the first time after years and I just reached the bar scene, so I had to stop the movie and come here to listen to it. I think Mills was right. Somerset wanted to persuade himself that the world is fucked up so he can quit more easily. BTW, the dialogue in this movie is so good. It puts 99% of Hollywood crap to shame.
Are 8 years too long for you to see this notification? I hope not. I would have replied faster if I noticed earlier that this song was actually in one of my favourite movies but it was played so low that I never noticed it until today ^^. The film is "Seven" directed by David Fincher and Gloria's song is played in the background during the bar scene but you can barely hear it. Anyway, here are some other Jazz/Blues gems with similar tone: Fred Williams - Tell Her Noora Noor - Dedication Noora Noor - Forget What I Said Little Richard - Hurry Sundown Ida Bang and the Blue Tears - Dear Daddy Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa - Your Heart is as Black as Night Natalia M. King - I Need to See You I would add a bonus track that isn't exactly Jazz or Blues but is still pretty addictive: Why Mona - Stayin Alive. It's obviously a cover of the Bee Gees' song but some covers can be pretty good ;)
@@Jedz999 Haha, no it's not! Thank you for all your recommendations, I will check them out as soon as I'm able. Good Lord, I've totally forgot I've even typed that comment and that it was so long ago :)
Beautiful voice. I wish fans of today's pop singers would discover the sixties.

Mentioning loneliness
I feel lonely all the time
Ever since you went away

There was nothing I could say
Who could talk with a broken heart
Speaking of happiness
Why did it have to leave
Speaking of faithlessness
Why couldn't you just believe
I love you so very much
How could anything really go wrong
With the magic of your touch
And your love to keep me strong
Speaking of happiness
Where did it ever go
Did it leave with your caress
And the tenderness I used to know
Or is it right before my eyes
Like a blessing in disguise
Speaking of happiness
Why don't we try it one more time

thank you !
Heard this on "Diarra From Detroit". Good series
This was on a UK car advert in the 90s. Probably Ford. That was the first time I heard it.
I'll never understand how this song isn't more well known. Especially since _Fever_ is universally known, and this is similar but better XD
Try fever by paul revere and the raiders. There's a live recording on album. You never knew a man could kill that song.
Mills and Somerset.
煙草の臭氣が燻る

This was the soundtrack to a TV ad in the UK about 20yrs ago. I'm sure it was for Renault cars or something similar...?

I came here from Kevin Harts Fight Night great series on Peacock
I remember this from a Ford TV ad back in the late ‘90s. Sadly, the original is not available on any of the streaming services - only an awful new remix.
I remember spending ages trying to find what the song was after seeing the ad!
@Moulfarha the verison in suits is a remix of GLORIA LYNNE 's record
Thank you for your reply; I checked Etta Jones and am blown away!
If you know any more, I would be more than grateful :)
Thanks once again!

How do we get Spotify to add this track? They have lots of Gloria Lynne songs but only Diane Marino singing this song and it doesn't compare!
@Moulfarha U know what the re-make they use in Suits is called? Becaouse the version the the tv-series is truly awesome!
This - or a near perfect cover - was used in a British TV advert (a car?) back in the 1980s
It was a 90s ad for the Ford Mondeo. Always loved it for this song.
@@julietaylor9239 sounds right, see also the Ford fly me to the moon ad from same period
@@chrismr368 I found it thanks, always loved the Julie London version of Fly Me to the Moon. Car ads today are rubbish in comparison.

"Suits" sent me here😁. But who did the remix from the show?🤔
heard it in Suits..
Toby N. Tucker
can you tell Mike I left the key under the mat?
Can someone recommend some artist similar to Gloria? You know, great vocals, big band behind, this magic swing... are there any?
