Definitely like the DD gauges over the stock.
Same here!
Bud enjoying videos , glad to meet ya at show this pass weekend 👍👍👍
Great meeting you too! I’m sure we’ll see each other again very soon
I'll rather keep the original gauges on my obs but the Dakota digital still looks clean
I think I’m going to hang mine up for decoration. I like the look but they were too far gone to reuse.
@@motortopiaondemand that would be a good decoration piece somewhere
I went with the NEW VINTAGE USA instrument panel/gauge cluster in my 1993 Chevy C1500 OBS. I like the NEW VINTAGE gear selector indicator better.
What’s different about gear selector on the new vintage setup?
@@motortopiaondemand New vintage uses the factory selector. You remove it from factory panel and install on the new vintage pamel. ruclips.net/video/IRN4NV2wyJI/видео.html
Are they an easy install or do you have to wire them like these too?
@@osielmunoz8534 I have a couple vids on my chanel installing NEW VINTAGE USA instrument panel
Can a GPS speedometer sensor be used?
Great video. I have a Dakota Digital VHX in my 85 C20 LS swapped truck and will be putting one in my 91 S10 LS swapped here soon. I love their clusters for the same reason of the remote control box and the simple plug in of the cluster to the box. Plus Dakota has a great warranty and tech support. Wiring it is really simple and they have many options to make everything work. I would not go with any other cluster, Dakota Digital has the best one out there in my opinion.
In addition to the Dakota I have the RetroSound Motor 4 in my 85 Chevy C20 and a Motor 2 New York in my 91 Chevy S10 and as you said you can match the colors. My C20 is red and my S10 will be white. My Motor 4 was a tight fit in the S10, but I was able to mount it without having to remotely wire it like you did. With a good amp and speakers, the RetroSound radios sound great.
This is great to hear! Dakota Digital gauges and RetroSound radios are such a great combo.
where’d you get the wiring diagram?
Haha i just installed these gauges yesterday but they sent me a faulty module. Cant wait till tomorrow when the module gets in so i can see them finally work.
P.s. im almost 110% sure u have that many cts because one is for the computer, one is for the gauge & the last one is what turns on that little fan behind your grill like when you are towing things. Dont quote me on that but im pretty sure.
Awesome man! I hope you get them up and running. It's fun customizing them to match your interior. Also, good point on the number of temp sensors. I didn't think about that. I think I'm going to swap the clutch fan out for a dual electric fan setup and use a probe temp relay setup. That should help with regulating temp. These big blocks get hot quick!
I just bought an 89 GMC dually, and I'm going to update everything as well. Where did you find all the plastic trim pieces??
Have you noticed any design changed in the new dash that will keep it from self destructing like oem? I wont even mess with the square dashes typically, the mounting is weak it seems.
The LMC Truck dash looks like a factory replacement. The metal frame is sturdy and I think the OEM dashes failed because of the material used. The LMC Truck dash seems like it will be more durable.
At 3:00 is it possible to find that cubby hole in the dash? I can't find it anywhere.
3 temp sensors on the big block is correct. Drivers side head is the gauge. Passenger head is the aux cooling fan. The one on the manifold talks to the computer.
I like those gauges but as long as my originals keep working on my trucks I'm gonna keep my money in my wallet.
Thanks for clarifying. I was confused because my aux fan was on a switch and I didn’t think they would need 2 others. This is my first big block TBI truck so I’m learning a lot!
@@motortopiaondemand no problem. If you are keeping the TBI, the wiring for the sensor in the manifold is required to be hooked to a sensor. Once the system goes into closed loop that sensor is a requirement. Any time I have a problem with how a TBI runs I change that sensor first--and it’s usually it.
Thanks for the tip! Do you happen to know which sensor would be for the computer? I'll make sure that sensor is still connected.
@@motortopiaondemand the one on the manifold that is kinda below the coolant return hose is the one for the computer. From the video I think that’s where you put the one for the new gauges.
@@shawnlattimer8924 awesome thank you. I’ll be sure to hook that one back up!
Hola soy colombiano , le sirve a una k1500 1991 , qué precio tiene ?
How are the gauges holding up? Reliable?
