I made it for my kids on a rainy day They thought it was a laugh so shared it.
Big fan of both Shatner and Wheaton's work -so no offence to either

Gene's actions were very kind, but it's the Frakes/Dorn moment that would have made my day if I were Wheaton.
Well, listening to this video... I think it did make Wheaton's day.

That’s a great story.
Did you notice Frakes referring the Wheaton as "The Teen Idol"? You know that wasn't meant to be a compliment, right? I'm sure it was just a little good nurtured ribbing but wow, what lousy timing.
I see a lot of comments re: Jonathan Frakes and Michael Dorn, so here's a shout out to Brent Spiner for doing exactly the right thing to cheer a young actor/fanboy up.

I've watched this story several times now and I'm not ashamed to admit it, my eyes still fill up, every time.
"Shatner shit all over the teen idol." --makes me laugh every time.
I met Jonathan Frakes, and he was nothing but supportive. I’m meeting Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn and Gates McFadden this summer.
I loved it when the note was read out, you know damn well that Shatner was not asked to write it,he was TOLD to write it.

Great story, so engrossing! I'd heard similar stories about Shatner while living near his horse farm in Kentucky. They eventually faded, and one day a little girl at the local feed and tack store told me that Shatner had heard her horse died, and he had sent someone over to her family's farm with a beautiful horse as a gift, with his condolences. I suppose we all have good days and bad days!
My guess is that Shatner has mellowed with age, and is aware he can be an ass sometimes. he seems nicer as an older person.

There are SO many more anecdotes about Bill Shatner's kindness, amiability, co-operation, humour and thoughtfulness.
It seems the youngster made as much as possible out of this brief incident...it was surely just a difficult moment ....Bill S . has put SO much time and effort into "coming up with the goods" for all the filming : it's tiring and demanding having to do so much !
Young lad should get it in perspective, IMHO .

@@robertballard8833 Nope. I wouldn't say he mellowed at all. I was in Madison in the summer of 2018 and I saw a movie poster for WOK where he was supposed to make an appearance. His face on the poster looked like he wanted to murder the photographer. It wasn't exactly a poster that said "Hey, come on out and see me."
This is great. I love it that Roddenberry made Shatner apologize to Wheaton IN WRITING. That blows my mind.
I love how the whole cast had his back. Makes me love TNG all the more.
William Shatner was/is an arrogant, egotistical dick by all accounts, but it's not like he assaulted him. He was just being his usual cranky bitch self. Will needs to get over it!

@@GeorgeGiann I have! Musical too. Boecephus was an ass, one would think Ray Stevens would be nice, but no. However, the nicest one I met was Johnny Rivers. Long story, but he did a favor for me and he truly was "Secret Agent Man".
TNG crew all seemed to be aware of Shatner's reputation.
@@GeorgeGiann No. I had a good experience with mine. I met Ian Mckellen at Gay Pride. He had been enjoying a drink or ten, and was very merry, and so was I. I drunkenly said I loved him, and he was an amazing actor. I kissed him on the cheek. He said "Thank you dear boy" channelling Gandalf high on Old Toby, before he was dragged through a VIP door. Best night ever!

I think you should still take the chance. I've met a lot of cool people I used to idolize growing up, and thu ended up being alright.
I would SORT of agree with that! I got to meet my Drumming Idol/Mentor/Inspiration, "Neil Peart" of RUSH at a Drum Clinic in Hollywood California back in the Mid-80's And he was AWESOME! We spent alot of time talking and hanging out. When the weekend was over he didn't just shake my hand... He actually HUGGED Me! He was VERY VERY COOL! And a GREAT LOSS! :(
Your right.The only actor i ever took a chance on approaching was George "Sulu" Takei and he was fantastic to me but i already knew he was kind to fans.Everybody knows what William Shatner is,i wouldn't dream of approaching him even if i got the chance.
I got to meet Leonard Nimoy and I was not disappointed, just the opposite. He had been touring in the mid-1970s as the lead, Tevya, in Fiddler on the Roof and I was a volunteer teenaged usher. He was not feeling well, but went on anyway and delivered a great performance. He gave autographs afterward. When he got to me, i was blown away by how amazingly nice and humble he was. It felt like he radiated love and appreciation. Memory is a funny thing, but I will never forget his lovely presence.
I've meet three Star Trek actors over the years
- Wil Wheaton: I met him not at a sci-fi con, but at some sort of public event with a celebrity meet-and-greet. He wasn't particularly talkative, but there was quite a line, and he was giving out free autographs. (I think paid autographs were still frowned upon.) I had asked for two: I had two copies of "Strike Zone", which had the likeness of a Klingon, Picard, and Wesley on the front cover. He made one out to me, and one out to a teenage friend of mine, who had CP and couldn't make it around large public gatherings. Wheaton was still a teenager, so he may've been a bit subdued to the whole meet-and-greet situation. But he was as nice as could be expected.
- James Doohan: This was also not at a sci-fi con, but was at an auto show. I'd brought my copy of "The Star Trek Compendium" for him to sign. Most other people had some sort of stand-alone picture (8x10s, etc.), but I brought a book. He was as gregarious as one would hope. I opened my book to a page that had a still of him in the episode "The Galileo Seven", where Scotty was electrifying the hull of the shuttlecraft to ward off some attacking beasts. One of the guys handling the autograph desk asked in a puzzled way, "What's that?" indicating my book. Mr. Doohan opened the book up to other pages, showing this guy what the compendium was, and how it had all this interesting trivia and behind-the-scenes information. He then asked where the picture was that I wanted signed. He reopened it and signed. A very sweet guy!
- George Takei: Mr. Takei was actually the first ST actor I'd met. I had just moved to a big city (Washington, DC), and my parents pointed out there was a science fiction convention at the Marriott Twin Bridges in Arlington, VA. When I got there, I just melded into the crowds, looking at merchandise and collectables. I heard an announcement that he was going to speak in a certain room, and I just went. I don't recall paying for an admittance to that event; I just went in and stood about center of the room. Mr. Takei came out, and he was effing hilarious. I recall laughing all the way through the hour or so that he spoke. Right after that, he was signing autographs. Being a motel, the only space they had for this was in a hallway. So all the fans that wanted autographs lined up; the line snaked around several halls in the motel. I think he was only scheduled for an hour of signing, and it was 90 minutes later that I was approaching his table. I was afraid that they'd close the session because it was taking so long. But Takei kept signing, talking, laughing with each fan that came up to meet him. I had the same concordance that I'd later have signed by Doohan. This time, I opened the book to a picture of Sulu from "The Naked Time", when he was chasing his crewmates around with a fencing foil. (He'd told a story about how he'd been practicing fencing, and everyone thought he was just playing ambush with the foil.) He found it amusing that I picked that picture (with him all glistening and shirtless; I just wanted an action picture, not a beefcake pose), and then he signed it "D'Artagnan" instead of "George Takei". :)
Takai seems to be very nice and funny, Doohan now was have you rolling on the floor funny!
By all accounts, James Doohan was one of the best to meet. I’m truly saddened that I’ll never get the chance.

It would have been fun to see Dorn make Shatner shit his pants a little. I'd have paid big bucks for that scene!
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Didn't expect Wil Wheaton's narration to be so engrossing and expressive, and the photos work really well too. Thank you for taking my mind off all this virus/lockdown stuff for a little while!
I saw those episodes of Big Bang, where Sheldon meets Wil, that was great. I've also heard renditions of William "trying" to sing, and that is painful.
Wil reads a lot of audiobooks and does a superb job. He reads some of John Scalzi's works, but I think his best performance is probably Ready Player One. He also read Masters of Doom, the story of John Carmack and John Romero and the creation of ID software and the Doom franchise. He's a very talented narrator for sure!
when kirk said FIRE at WILL, he actually meant, FIRE AT WIL. What a jerk, and what a bunch of great people.

Wil Wheaton is incredibly expressive. His narrates many audiobooks and it's an absolute joy to listen to him!

I remember getting Michael Dorn's signature in Forbidden Planet in Glasgow years ago. Tiny little shop, and I swear I could feel the bass from Dorn's voice through the floorboards :)
I cooked for Bill Shatner a couple of years ago. He took the time to shoot the breeze with me, and we spoke of a common passion of ours for about minutes before his performance. He autographed a few things for a recovery based fundraiser,and took a picture with me.
I thought he was a great guy.
Proof that we all make mistakes, and can change. In his autobiography he acknowledges that he's only ever had one true friend. So I guess he's not a great reader of people / people person. It was probably his attempt at humour, but he wasn't thinking of the impact his words/ actions would have on this kid. I wish I could say I'd never been an ass to someone, but of course we all have. Good to hear that Bill was nice to you
People are complex. Sometimes I’m an asshole too, but not most of the time. People seem to label actors based on a single interaction with them.

It seems most people who arent actors and hv met him seem to hv good things to say. However, it seems like other actors don't seem to like him. In my opinion it's the fact that actors feel entitled and that maybe it's not William Shantner who's the problem, but all these jealous actors.

Every human being has flaws and that goes for actors and actresses as well.
No one should build up a mental image of anyone because they are no better or worse than you are as a human being regardless of what they do for a living.
IDK, sounds like Jonathan Frakes, and Michael Dorn would have been great to meet.... and of course, the literal Hero Gene Roddenberry would have been great to meet.
Except to meet Mr. W - I'd be honoured to be treated like dirt by him. You know, he flies the Enterprise 1701-frecking-D and is best friends with #1 and the Klingon. He always gets the cute teenage girls that visit the ship and gets to smartmouth Locutus and save the ship and everything. That way I'd have a story to tell, even if Mr. W who is my hero tells it so much better!

I read a bunch of comments and it's a shame most missed the point of this story. It wasn't about Bill Shatner, it was about Gene and how he took the time to take care of everyone under his command. Gene Roddenberry was the real starship captain running the show, not Bill Shatner.
The title of the video would suggest you're mistaken.
Sorry, but the subject of this story IS "fucking Bill Shatner". And as the other commenter here alludes, the video's title only confirms that. If Wheton wanted the subject to be Gene Roddenberry, then he would've used a different title and used the Bill Shatner encounter as a supporting element rather than the primary element.
Agreed. Although it's plain that Shatner being a total asshole is a major theme of this anecdote, Roddenberry's affection for Will and his protectiveness of him is obvious and clearly was the biggest impression this experience left on him. I also love that Spiner, Frakes and Dorn stuck up for him. Michael Dorn offering to beat somebody up for you--even in jest--would be immensely reassuring for any nervous 17 year old! ;)

Awww, this explains why Wil Wheaton was so nice and sweet when I met him at ComicCon. Remember that movie, “A Christmas Story?” Remember how that kid was when he finally got to meet Santa. That’s how I was when I met Wil Wheaton.

I was a young immigrant working at the airport in PHL. Mr. Shatner turned up at my counter to check in for a flight. He was early. No one standing around. Just the two of us. He wore a cap. I am a big fan of ST TNG. I never met a nicer celebrity in my life. There was no one around for him to show how nice he was. I was dumbfounded, but he was patient and said encouraging words. He chuckled when I asked for his picture ID and apologised for following protocol even though I knew who he is. I keep his autographed copy of his boarding pass on my desk to remind me to be kind to everyone. Just saying..
sometimes I wonder if shatner is trying to be funny he seems to be a funny guy but maybe a lot of the time he comes across as me when it's really probably just kidding, I know somebody who knew him years ago on a semi personal leveland was told that in real life he's a wonderful guy to deal with an incredibly accommodating and friendly and generous,and yet from some of his co-stars and some of the people in the industry they say these horrible things
I'm inclined to think Shatner was having a bit of fun with WIll, that he probably didn't mean any real harm. From what I've seen of him, he wants to be making a joke about nearly everything, so that might be all it was. Also, he was working on set, so he might have had a problem he was wrestling with. I hear the production of STV was really fractious, and Shatner might have been frustrated. Bad timing and all that. I say this because I've heard many reports like Roger's, where he is described as being genial and pleasant and quite down to earth.
Either way, it was GREAT the way everyone rallied around Will, especially Gene. I think of all the Star Trek family I would have liked to meet, Gene might be the one I most regret never having done so.

There's an audio of him getting irritated at a guy coaching him on how to "sound like Shatner" when he's narrating a space documentary. Man Shatner really turned the screws on that guy. Deserved in my opinion. You don't shat on the Shat.
@@Nick_the_Troubadour exactly. Shatner is a bombastic personality with ZERO empathy. He doesn't mean any harm but he has a problem recognizing when he causes harm nonetheless. A lot like Donald Trump's personality. They really don't know what asses they can be when they THINK they're being charming.
I think it's wonderful, that you had a great experience with Bill, but keep on mind he is an actor and can "act" nice anytime he wants to! Now having said that, everybody has "off" days and isn't going to be Mary Poppins every day, were all human!
The actors that are able to laugh at themselves, not take it seriously are the ones who’ve been the most successful.
@Fernando Chavez: Spot on. I worked within the entertainment industry for a length of time. The one's that shouted the loudest, wanting centre of attention were the least talented. Sort of like 'small man syndrome' ergo over compensating to stay in the picture (pun intended).

@@HanZie82 Yeah, and a fan kid is a fan kid, boy star or not. What's nice is how it takes a village, a star ship set, a cast, and a film crew to raise a child - and keep an old fart in line.
I met him at a convention and he was delightful, interested and remembered me hours later for the photo op. I guess everyone has off days.
Captain's note : don't hire hyper sensitive drooling fanboygirls below a certain age. This business can have unexpected side effects in the long run.

Yeah I got to meet him a couple times. He was super nice, shook my hand, did a photo op and made small talk. For a guy who was super busy, he sure seemed to genuinely want to hear what I had to say. He is sarcastic and likes to joke around. So Im assuming that is what he did when he met Will.

Shatner has gotten better in his old age, but back then, he was, in fact, a raging shitbag.
Data found time to humor, telling Will that Shatner "wears a toupee." And "balder than baldy there", pointing with his head at Capt Picard. How protective they all were of Will!

I love this book. A few teachers and I were going to go to Las Vegas for a Star Trek convention, and it ended up being the only one I’ve ever been to. All the other teachers canceled at the last minute so I had to go by myself. It was a wonderful time and I had never really paid attention to Wil Wheaton and when I heard him speak I instantly became a fan. He was so kind and I
met him and had him sign my book . He made you feel at ease. Just a regular wonderful person.
There's a lot more to the story, of course. The first apology note was wrung out of Shatner by Roddenberry, so it was polite but half-hearted. Years later, Wil and Shatner met again at the set of a game show (Weakest Link), and Wil discovered that Shatner was a more relaxed, funny guy. This is like a few years after Captain Kirk died on the big screen.
Yes he should have made a point of looking Wil up and apologising in person.
IIRC there was tension between Wheaton, the host, and the woman who plays b'lanna on that show.

Gene Roddenberry was the real "Captain" of Star Trek. He sounds like an amazing guy and has had a lasting effect on so many people.
Like Shatner, Roddenberry could be a real egotist at times. He rubbed some people the wrong way. BUT... he had a really good heart. Unfortunately, his egotism got in the way in Season 2 of Star Trek TOS. And ultimately he was marginalized enough to be pretty much AWOL for Season 3... and it showed. Fred Freiberger ruined pretty much most of Season 3. The series never should have ended with "Turnabout Intruder."

How ironic that now Wil tends to brush off his own fans Shatner-style if they happen to meet him in public. I had a friend who ran into him at a movie theater and he refused to talk to them or even look at them. His wife spoke up and told them he doesn't talk to fans outside of paid event appearances.

Wil experienced an anxiety or panic attack once after a fan ambushed him and his family a few years ago. Some actors are really good at handling fans off the cuff; Wil isn't one of those, especially when he wants to relax and have a family night out.
After following Wil on FB for several years, I think he's a good guy who went through and still deals with a lot of sh*t. He's an advocate for mental health and depression issues, and I really respect that.
This was the first time I'd heard him do a reading, and it was brilliant. I'll be starting audio books because of this.

@@benneclone7991 He also did the audiobook version of "Ready Player One". It's a fun book as long as you don't think about it too much, but Wil Wheaton's performance as a reader is top-notch and fits the book perfectly.
I remember watching Wil on TV. I truly enjoyed how he narrated this story. Well done Wil.
Dude's class. Whatever some may think of the Wesley Crusher character, Wil Wheaton is awesome.
I worked with Will twice. Once one TNG and also on an After School Special. He was such a nice guy. Just a genuinely sweet kid and totally unaffected by his fame. I can’t imagine how anyone could be mean to him. Willian F-ing Shatner ...

Never met wil in person yet but it's definitely in my bucket list. We're about the same age but I've always looked up to him
And now I know more about Wil's parents, it's especially heartbreaking that a man Wil so admired would treat him so badly. What a punch in the gut. Thank goodness for Gene Roddenberry, Stewart, Frakes, Dorn, Burton, and Spiner, truly good men.

What an amazing story Will. The sense of family you felt was truly special. I also met Mr. Shatner, long story short, I was devastated at his "assness" myself. Glad you bounced back!
Ok Will, as a 54-year old Star Trek fanboy who had learned years ago that Bill and James T Kirk are two very distinct persons your story didn't come as a surprise. What did come as a surprise is your ability to tell a story like this. I thoroughly enjoyed it, albeit three years after you posted it. Nice to hear about backstage TNG from your perspective, much appreciated. Also a bit sad to think about the positive influence a man like Bill could have been, something you seem to have understood much better. The Traveler would never have noticed Bill ;-)

Gene Roddenberry was married to Majel Barrett who played nurse Chappel and Mrs troi, Deanna mom on Star Trek. He was a cop in the 50s and 60s.
Roddenberry was a nice man, but, he also had a rep for being a selfish, and even cheating business man. That, by the way Americans and others do business, doesn't make Roddenberry not a nice man. Shatner's another man. He tossed the poor kid a hot potato and the little guy's fingers stung. The rest of the village gave him a band aid, and let Shatner know he'd been an ass to a kid he shouldn't have. Shatner does the right thing. It's all so human. It's good enough.
@@oliversmith9200 If Shatner meant any of that, he would have written the note. He had it typed up and stamped like a sore loser that just got chewed out by his boss. And as the story Wil told said, he was continued to be treated like crap by him. Shatner did no right thing, he just did as he was told by the boss.
@@oliversmith9200 I guess it was mutual, because the studios and writers weren't particularly kind to Roddenberry either, especially during the first film which sucked a lot out of him. So he ended up a little on the paranoid side by the time TNG started production, especially where the writing was concerned.
But Roddenberry was nowhere near the abusive bag of dicks that his attorney Leonard Maizlish and producer/writer Maurice Hurley were.

In the first season of TNG Patrick Stewart was the oldest member of the cast. He was 47. Wil Wheaton was the youngest, 15.
Last year, in 2019, Wil Wheaton turned 47. He is now old enough to play the Captain. I really hope he turns up in Picard.
Holy cow, I'm 47. This adds a whole new perspective when I watch reruns of Season 1 of TNG.
If he does get a role in Picard, I might sign up for CBS to see whatever powers he learned from the Traveler. I thought that was one of the better recurring Wes Crusher stories in TNG, and it's a shame they only did 3 episodes (well, 2 and a half).

Met William Shatner in the ‘70s at a con in Kansas City, Missouri. He was charming and adorable, telling funny stories and being self-deprecating. A friend and I were seated right in front of him. At one point my friend whispered to me, “His ear it pierced, is he gay?” I told her that he was in a new show called Barbary Coast (1975-76) and he sometimes played a pirate. He must have overheard a least part of it because he looked over and winked at me! Throughout the rest of his presentation, he’d glance over often and and flash me quick grins and sly smiles. And as he left the room, he waved directly at me. Well, that was the highlight of any con I ever attended. And, he’ll always have the key to my heart.
I met Captain Kirk once, 49 years ago,(I was 3, I had no idea who William Shatner was)
But Captain Kirk was very kind to me, and even showed me around his "shuttle craft".
He had a small camper on his pickup truck, and at 3 years old I thought it was a shuttlecraft. He played along, and truly made my day for years.

Had a chance to meet Shat at a rehearsal for the Aaron Copland "Portrait of Lincoln", which was being performed by the Glendale Symphony under Carmen Dragon along with some of his own arrangements. Shat was the celebrity narrator. He had his perm toupee on and was in general pretty friendly. I was sitting on the end of the tenor section row. I looked over and smiled at him kind of nervously. He smiled back....he wasn't a jerk on the whole. He shook the hands of the entire choir of teenagers. There must have been about 100 kids there. He didn't offer autographs but that is pretty understandable given the situation. He CAN be cool when he wants to be...or he can be a jerk. In other words he's human.

As someone who was also treated bad by older people in a young age and who had never such a support like Wil had in this situation and therefor suffered a lot from it for years, this really made me also put things into perspective even after 20 years. Thanks for sharing that story.
Thank you Mr. Wheaton. I had a chance to meet William Shatner in 1979 when I was 13 and I was too afraid to go through to door to see him where he was signing autographs. I have regretted it ever since but after watching this video I feel better about myself :)
you should've gone through the door. he was probably riding high on being paid big bucks for The Motion Picture and all happy/approachable :)

I met shatner when I was about 14 and while I kinda stood there dumbfounded, shatner was only slightly nicer to me than to Will. What struck me immediately after meeting him was how short the man was. I was 14, and short for my age and Shatner who I always imagined to be much taller was only about 2 inches taller than me AT 14. I'm sure by the time I finished growing I could have dwarfed him.
@Tammy T I think his true height when he was young was 5' 9". He's probably about 5'8" now.
Either way back then people weren't pumped with GMOs so him being 5'8 is fine they all were besides Spock

Being bullied as a kid myself, I would of been afraid the sh*t would really hit the fan once Bill got called-out for his actions and made to apologize. That at least has been my experience in life. Things get worse when you make people accountable.

This was a great interview. I always liked Wil Wheaton and his character, Wesley Crusher. Never understood all the hate for his character.
I still don't understand how he got so much hate, TNG was my favorite of the Star Trek franchise, followed by DS9, and any movie featuring Mr. Spock. (Leonard Nimoy)
I'd say his acting sucked at first and that cemented peoples opinion. That might have been intentional though.. it distracted people (or at least me at the time) from the fact that everybody's acting sucked at first in TNG. Beyond that... nobody likes children, and Wesley was the "child" character, the most hateful of all stock characters.
Lack of confidence in one's own masculinity, I expect. Mark Hamill got shit on for the same reason.
We hated Wesley, because he could have adventures on the Enterprise, we could not. He had it too easy...
I don't know if it was the mood of the late 80's at that time, but his character persona was too "goody two-shoes." I think he reminded a lot of boys about how geeky one can be. Cringe-worthy. Might've been a combo of directing and Wheaton's acting style. BUT... he got much better later on.

This video gets an A+...This is the reason I love Star Trek "The Next Generation." Wil's narration of the TNG actors and staff had Wil's back from the Shatner's encounter and to get praise from Gene Roddenberry was the "icing on the cake!" I am also glad that Wiliam Shatner gave Wil a written apology which is OK but a personal appearance would have been much better. Which we did see in this video of Wheaton and Shatner having a drink together. I have been to serveral Star Trek shows and ALL of the cast of Star Trek that I have seen have been respectful to the fans that pay and come to see them.
He has a fantastic voice for Audiobooks.....he read the audiobook of 'Redshirts' and it was fantastic :) :) I hope he does more audiobooks work he has the magic for it.
I agree, he did "Ready Player One" and his reading was one of the highlights of that audiobook. He's a talented voice performer.

I've always worshipped Quentin Tarantino. He's my cinematic hero but I would never DARE to approach him in any way. I love the guy, from a distance. He can be a serious beast and anybody I admire, well, if they were awful to me it would ruin ever watching and enjoying the very stuff that made me adore them in the first place.
I absolutely agree. Unless they approach you because they liked and admired your work, unless they seek YOU out...never meet your heroes.

I can't remember where, but I had read that years after TOS William Shatner had become more humble admitting that he had been a jerk When he was younger. I like to think that He always carried that persona in him and has to make a conscious effort to be more humble. It doesn't come naturally to him but the desire to be better is in him. He's human after all.

They told me not to talk to him. I left him a copy. He didn't even look at me.
He signed it "To my smallest fan." a reference to my Squirrel Junior.

This story proves that the TNG cast all had each others backs. It's no surprise (unlike the other incarnations of Trek) that there was no bickering or infighting amongst this group of actors. They respected each other on a professional level and cared for each other on a personal level as well.

I was at a convention starring Bill; a fan wanted to give him a card while he was speaking on stage. Cpt Kirk commenced to lecture him on not interrupting him. This brought down the entire mood of the convention. I think the lecture was longer than his speech. 🙄

Good to hear the TNG cast willing to stick up for him especially Jonathan Frakes and Michael Dorn. But the best moment of this extract for me is Brent Spiner cheering Wil up, by telling him that Shatner wears a toupee and is really balder than Patrick Stewart. 😂😂

As someone else said it's really about Gene Roddenberry and his kindness. It's also about the wonderful and supportive cast of Star Trek TNG. Well done. I loved it.

He was definitely protective of TNG, including the cast.
Years ago my Mom said that all the candidates I worked for had feet of clay also. Mayor Arn Bortz (Retired) of Cincinnati was the best. Senator Gary Hart apologized to me...Some of your heroes actually don't have feet of clay all the time...
The Great Bird was human. He had his faults as well, especially behind the scenes. But when it came to Trek and the fans he did his absolute best.
RIP Gene. You were a fine human being and we miss you very dearly.
