What a wonderful service to provide to the elderly, and as always, I really appreciate you documenting beautiful BG in a way that most Westerners would never see.

Good work by the Red Cross ♥ Love the retro/antique display on the house - they have taste - it's like a Bulgarian village version of the V&A museum in London 😂 (art, culture, social history stuff) I'm interested in economics and I saw some figures that said that the Bulgarian pension is 3 times the average salary, but the salaries are very low. (If interested Google "2024 Pension breakeven index: How does the UK state pension compare to the rest of Europe?")
Haha they definitely do have taste! I love old Knick knacks like these and have filled our house with stuff like this as well 😃. I can’t tell you how much I want to visit London! I love museums, history, art, culture etc and there seems to be so much to see in England. Hopefully one day soon ❤️ It’s really strange that you are seeing this info because the pensions in Bulgaria are tragically low. They are definitely not higher than the average salary. To give you an idea, the lowest pension was 350 leva ($195 USD) a month until just a few years ago. Now, I believe it is around 600 leva ($335 USD). The average salary is around $2000 BGN (1,113 USD). The sad truth is both the salaries and pensions are tragic.

Thank you so much! I’m so happy you are enjoying them 😊 The locals have asked me not to share the name of the village. I actually got a little bit of scolding from a few of the locals. They seem to be afraid that my bringing attention to the village may threaten the rural nature of the region. The majority of the people here are elderly and live here with very low pensions. They fear that if people start visiting the price of living will go up and they would no longer be able to sustain themselves. I would feel terrible if I broke my promise to them.
@@sistersofbulgaria9396 : I see... I know what you mean. On the one side, places and villages like this must know that they are not forgotten and they will never get abandoned. Such villages hold our culture, traditions, legends and history, even the way of living. First not all villages are like this there are villages that look like monaco but fair amount are like this, people leave for the city or immigrate(not that in the other country they will live much better). Jobs, lack of infrastructure, no schools for their kids, no hospitals, problems with gypsies and generally not much to do if you dont want to work on the land. If the village is close to a city they will survive people buy a house and spend weekends, summers there but more secluded once dosent have this future.
I think it’s a mix of no well paying jobs being available and a desire to live in the hustle and bustle of a big city. For example, in these little villages there are no restaurants, no salons, no shopping malls etc. I think young people gravitate towards the “excitement” of city life and the promise of more money.

Bulgarian pensions are 4 times lower than the average salary of 1175 Euro for last month (checked the national statistics).
