It doesn’t matter if you won 100 games, made the playoffs, developed your young guys: if you’re the Yankees and you lose to the Red Sox, it’s a failure. And vice versa.

Girardi should of never been fired. Should of been given one last chance because of what he did last season. The whole narrative of “oh the red sox won 108 games” is bullshit. They won 8 more games than a Yanks team that had basically no production from catcher & first base, lots of injuries etc. Yes the season is a failure.

Girardi was fired because he couldnt help the young guys. Last year Betance struggled and instead of Joe helping him work it out, he benched him. This year Betances starts off slow and Boone gave him his trust either way and Betances ended up being our best reliever. Every time a young player struggled Girardi would look elsewhere but Boone knows that they need his help. I didnt always pay off this season but look at Betances, Torres, Andujar, Stanton, Severino, Gary and Didi. They all struggled at some point and came back stronger. Sure it didnt work out with Bird but he hasnt played well for years or been injured.

    - This one's a mixed bag I guess if you're a Yankees fan; they won MORE games than they did last year under a 1st-year manager, but their postseason run ended EARLIER than it did last season too. Last year's Yankees came from nowhere, won 91 games, won the Wild Card game, rallied to beat Cleveland in the ALDS, & then lead 3-games-to-2 on the Astros but lost Games 6 & 7 back in Houston. This year's Yankees had far greater expectations( which is usually what happens when get as close to the WS as the Yankees did a year ago ), trading for Giancarlo Stanton had everyone anointing the Yankees as the favorites to win the World Series this year. And they won 100 games, which is usually a highly successful year...UNLESS you play in a division where winning 100 games is only good enough for 2ND place & it was your bitter division rivals winning 108 games & completely overshadowing what your team did. Then, on top of that, the Red Sox not only clinched the division title at the Bronx, they ALSO beat the Yankees in the ALDS & won the last 2 games at Yankee Stadium to clinch. So...the regular season was the successful part. But losing to your hated rivals in the Division Series after being anointed early on as the favorites to win the World Series...that was the part where the Yankees came up short. And I guess in New York, what you do or how far you advance in October is what you will be judged upon.

Rok Morgan DeGrom would be great. But I have worries because this past season was by far and away his best, so I don’t know if he will top it. And he is approaching 30. A trade for him would be nice though, but I don’t want to make a trade that makes us give up important parts of the team. Patrick Corbin is the best pitcher on the market. He and the Yankees have mutual interest, so I expect that deal to be done quick. We definitely shouldn’t go for Harper. Machado, I would like to have come over and move back to third base. But, then Andujar would have to move to first, which we already have Voit at (hopefully we trade Bird). So if we can have a platoon at first I would want to get Machado.

Yankees Starting Pitching Rotation Needs to be Upgraded to be Dominating !! Agree with Stephen on starting pitching.
The season ended early because Yankees starting pitching wasn’t dominating as the Bosox. Brian Cashman fail to get at least 1 or 2 starting pitcher during the off season 2017. Big mistake getting into another 10 year contract with Santon. Cashman should’ve gotten an ace pitcher instead. The Yankees bats went cold at Yankees stadium in the last two games and the Yankees shouldn’t never got rid of Joe Girardi . Joe Girardi took the Yankees further than 2018 Yankees and within one game of the World Series.

Man, the only pitcher you can trust is Tanaka. His stuff hasn't been the same since his injury, but the dude is consistent and does not flinch. That said, CC is past his prime, Happ was never really believed to be THAT guy, and severino is way too streaky for my liking. I don't know what the free agent situation is, but the two things The Yankees need are more athleticism and starting pitching. I hope to god they don't get Harper, please spend your money more intelligently.

Sorry, but they're wrong on this one. Our pitching was the least of our problems throughout the whole season and the ALDS aside from Game 3. We lost games and the series because we failed to hit with RISP and that was our main problem throughout the season.
If we had done so we would've won the series and won more than 100 games in the regular season not to mention if we had done that our pitching performance wouldn't have mattered.
However, I do agree that DeGrom would be a nice addition, but I wouldn't give up Torres for him.

Pitching was a disappointment but every game (except possible game 3 was winnable). Game 1 they left based loaded twice vs struggling relievers and chased bad pitches. Game 3 Severino didn't get a full warm up because the pitching staff didn't get him the starting time, and then they didn't start a reliever to get him a full warm up. And then after clearly struggling giving up 3 runs, they let him come in next inning, then started Lance Lynn, a starter, with based loaded. Then in game 4, Stanton shit the bed. All he needs to do it not strikeout or ground into DP, and he strikes out BADLY.

Yankees season was a huge failure, same as any contender who doesn't win a title. I'm a Dodgers fan, our last 6 seasons have been huge failures. You shouldn't be afraid to admit the season was a failure if it clearly was. Yankees were judged by many to be the hardest team to face in a playoff series and now all of a sudden the Astros and Red Sox were better? Don't give me that Stephen A., you know nothing about baseball, the Yankees season was a failure.

Yankees have the prospects and the cash to fix that rotation in 100 days or less. Not worried about them. Houston and Boston will always be there but New York could be unbeatable if they make a couple ballsy moves, and they have the money and the trade pieces to do it.

Stephen A made an extraordinary point about judge playing the song if girardi was around.
I don't think he dares to do that. It's disrespectful and a guy like girardi who's been a manager for 10 years with the biggest baseball franchise doesn't let a player represent his team by doing something like that cos judge was making the Yankees look disrespectful by doing that.
And judge is an incredible player let me say that first only. But he's been in the majors for 2 years ! He's an MVP caliber player and an amazing talent but I'm sorry he can't be doing that.
These players have been too chill and lethargic all year. Look at the stretch of bad games they've been having during the regular season. When they don't hit home runs this team just can't score. Boone isn't a bad manager but u need to have the right balance between being relaxed and being demanding
And by the looks of it I don't think there's one Yankee player out there who even is worried about upsetting Boone at all.
Joe was perfect for this team but cashman wanted to get someone who's more relaxed and these problems won't change next season and by just giving Boone better starters doesn't make him A better manager
