I saw mr carlson have an issue with some mylar capacitors in a radio. A bad batch it seems as most of them were faulty. It was the same exact situation of " these particular capacitors almost never fail" I know his solution was to replace all of them and then tested them out of circuit and that's how us the viewers saw most of them were faulty. I have had this very same quandary when repairing vehicles. Love your content and quality

Face plate "Brilliant", Manuel you keep innovating and producing better and better videos. I can't wait to see an old black face plate reproduction on a German style radio. Do you think the scanning process would come out as well as your hand-drawn digital file that used for the printer?

Actually no. Scanning is great, but the resolution would suffer. I would scan a faceplate to use as a background reference, but I prefer the vector drawings as they leave you with many more options in terms of colour, size and resolution. The problem is the backing. As someone mentioned, the shadow of the tone wheels is visible here, which wasn’t the case in the original. I guess it could do with another layer … a dark got. Gig to try it next time.

I believe those capacitors are considered ceramics, which means you could use disc ceramics to replace them instead of mylars. They would certainly look better. The Telefunken Opus radios used ceramic discs in these circuit positions, and I've never found a bad one. I've had a few broken dog bone caps that I've had to replace, but never one that was physically intact. My guess is that you'd be fine just leaving the other ones in there.

Manuel I don’t care what your wife and daughter say about you, you’re a nice guy.
I was watching Dave Tipton video reviewing a microscope and for the demonstration he used your latest Bluetooth innovation. I guess you sent him a few boards thus proving you're nice guy. (This is not a paid endorsement)

😊 Actually, I didn’t 😞 He ordered them himself. Dave and I have spoken and are actually friends (as much as you can be without actually meeting each other in person). We often refer to each other in our videos. I do it because I really enjoy his videos and he always makes my (Fri)day when I see he’s posted another one. You Mack, are another person I consider a friend … again without a face to face. I really enjoy seeing your comments, so you too make my day 😊

I see one problem with new scale in 24:05. Its transparent too much, so parts of bass/treble controls are visible. When you look at old faceplate in first video, there was top layer covering all but scale. So maybe some black paper should be put behind faceplate to cover part that shouldnt be transparent.

Why not add a Bluetooth pilot light/symbol on the dialglass?

It would be easy, but personally I prefer the subtle approach 😊
