They need to make sure the standing orders to the guards allows them to tell tourists not to touch, and if necessary, allow them to shout are persistent or serious infringers.

I don't understand why the guards don't say to the tourist to not touch the horse in my opinion it is their job toe say those kind of things, the tourist don't read the signs but they can listen to the yelling of the guard

You can help by being what you want the world to be by contacting the groups that watch and can bring cases against anyone who allows animal abuse, just leaving the site means you are abandoning them to their fate, Write to HCAV, PETA, all animal protection groups I am in discussion with four groups from today we are working out way towards getting justice for these poor horses. I don't like it either but we need to keep watch for these regal animals. You can thank the previous government for taking the guards voices away, and the new one isn't any better they haven't rescinded they haven't rescinded the order. It seems the horses have no rights. However saving tourism is more important, which is a load of BS there are many amusements in London so I don't think shouting at the tourist to not touch the horse is going to do any harm, but the harm being done to the horses by the guards not supporting their horses is damaging not only to the horses physical health but to their mental health too. Please do what you can to help, the horses will thank you! By the way I am not disputing that they are looked after well but it only seems to be at the barracks and stables as soon as the horses are in the sentry box all care and love goes out of the window.

Your over blowing it contacting Peta. It has improved noend. Yes they the troopers should speak up but it's not classic animal abuse and I think sometimes the horse initiates contact as they themselves are more docile. In this country dogs and some farm animals are treated much worse so I would say priorities are made.

It would help if off duty troopers visiting the sentries would either refrain from touching or identify themselves in some way to show that maybe the rules didn't apply to them. If they simply blend in with the tourists how can they expect ordinary tourists to obey the signs?

Is this a joke? The officers have had enough? What is happening here, the officers are more like guards then the guards LOL. These guards need to start acting like real military. I am surrounded by the military and have never seen anyone in the military act like this. These are not guards! What they are allowing is disgusting and disrespectful to other guards, officers and their country. They should be ashamed of themselves for doing this.
They need to put both signs up on both sides of the arch and all the trooper needs to do is point to the signs beside both horses. If you approach from the side that doesn't have a sign how do you know what not to do.
the signs are great, the more the better. But nothing is going to change if these guards do not start acting like military and stop this. They should not be expecting the officers to do something. This is their job, it is awful how they do nothing.
The fact that there is only one sign is irrelevant all it takes is a don't touch the horse or move back which some of the guards are doing but not many. They stupid , ignorant tourist have looked straight at the sign, read it and still ignore it. It needs action from the guards, the MOD police are doing their best but it isn't really their job to do this. Could you write to HCAV and contact animal protection groups, if everyone who finds the abuse of these horses distasteful and cruel do this we may get up enough momentum to get something really done about it and not just commenting our displeasure.
@GLAlex9470 The troopers can only do what the bosses tell them to do, the bosses don't want to alienate the public/ taxpayers who who vote in the lawmakers who decide on their budgets. Multi level problem.
@annbeirne9583 The animal protection people are not going to do anything, the horse have adequate food ,water,clean environment, and veterinarian care and they are switched over every hour or two, there are more severe issues in other areas, while we might not like it the horses have it better than many others throughout the country. It also has national history behind it, and Britain is all about history and traditions, the changing of the guard at horse guards and Buckingham Palace, it's also about the tourists money added to the economy.

So when the others don't do anything they are making the other guards and officers look like fools. How can this alienate the public? Tourism will NOT slow down or stop because they can't touch the horses. London will always be a tourist destination.
Imagine if you were the horse and had to endure every person touching you, day after day ! That is actually harassment. Why is it tolerated? How annoying! Then, all the noise! Do something to help these poor, tortured animals who have to stand still with a heavy man on top, everyone touching you ! Please rescue them from this! Get those people back behind barriers! Charge anyone for disregarding the rules!

I ve noticed that many Blues and Royals guards will allow touching. Then a few will forbid it or yell to stop. Very inconsistent within this Calvary of guards. Just the way it is…there will be a completely different vibe and enforcement of the rules when the Household Calvary return. Some horses seem to want to be touched while others don’t want anyone even standing near.
Another guard not upholding the new signs so the horses are continually being abused, this is cruel. These guards need to be reported.

Isn't it part of the policeman's job to also protect the horses and guards. One should be stamding near each horse's box and stop the touching of the horses. The police stand talking to each other instead of really protecting.
