I go with 5 micron AL or MG, and P Percolate as a dust. That's how you get most complete detonation/deflagration. When these go off you can feel the sonic wave in your chest and sometimes see the distortion in the air from the shock wave. Most satisfying lol.
Hey Jeff I tried plastic end caps For an M 80 how come one of them blows out I hot glued them both in another words it doesn’t blow up the cardboard blows the end out what’s that all about
@@kauffman2007 OK thanks some other video I seen at some point the guy saying how great they were so I figured I’d try some I don’t think they’re very great

It is not readily available anymore, that l know of, in the 5 or 10 micron fineness. Now I can only find magnesium as rough shaving and coarse powder. You'd have to grind it down in a ball mill or something like that. AL works just fine and it is more stable anyway.
@@cleolateeple1997 anything lower than 40 microns in magnesium is dangerous as the self ignition risk is high below 40 microns :) 10 or even 5 would be an insane fire hazard and very dangerous to work with. Only (dark) AL is as fine as 5 microns
@@FixiHartmann3D the Indian blackhead 5 micron is my favorite. I haven't used any mg in a long time, maybe it was a bit coarser than I remember. It may have been 325 mesh.

Potassium Perchlorate is better its safer. German Dark aluminum or Indian blackhead is the way to go. Add a little Titanium for spark shower effect if desired.
Don't mix larger amounts with a metal spoon. Use the diaper method. And you should use 50% of both when you use a nitrate. The excess fuel will make it more powerful. I made my first flash powder in 1999, so I think I know what I'm talking about.
The Bikini Atoll Nuke Xplosion really captivated the audience' imagination! 😂 Thanks for sharing
Potassium Perchlorate is a better oxidizer for flash powder, and more finely divided material is better too.
I have found nitrate to be more consistent,🤔 but that is just my opinion.
If you have very fine magnesium, like

Awesome videos!
How do you store your metal powder? I want to get aluminum powder for flash but I hear it can blow up if stored wrong or in a hot climate
I do not know ,but I only use mg And I have not had any problems
From where you get magnesium powder
I got some of ebay

Magnesium Powder is tightly regulated. In the U.S. By ATFE - Some people aquire some Bar stock magnesium, and powder it themselves-

Potassium perchlorate + dark aluminum + sulfur is the best salute

Totally agree. Except I've yet to add titanium to the mix, but will very soon.

It looks like you're using a metal fork to mix your chemicals - metal is not the best for mixing flash powder 👍🏻

so pretty much inorganic bp? cool!
thought the classic was p. perchlorate & german dark aluminium, 7 to 3 ratio
Yes but I do it differently.
That is the standard for good flash, for sure.
50/50 i thing is better than 70/30.
I do 50/50 now.
1:1 is better
I prefer using Kclo3 or kclo4 and dark aluminum powder the finer the better
