For the monitors I bought them on sale as my move from normal monitors to gaming monitors awhile ago. The color theme is black and white I got the black and white version of the case and part picker didn't have that version on the list. The reason for the black cooler is inside the glass is mainly black so I was thinking about blending in the radiator, however you have me thinking about how much I'd be spending on the cooler when there are cheaper but just as good options. For the GPU I love the look of the MSI card but not the price....its hard to stomach current gpu prices after getting my 3070 at msrp at launch. PSU was a combination of upgrades (more power/modularity/higher 80+rating/white cables included) versus my current 650w non-modular bronze rats nest lol.
@hdz77 0 seconds ago I would of also chosen the 7800X3D but changed to the 360 AIO for the Thermalright Aqua Elite 360 AIO which is way better cooling performance then the AIR Cooler and its only a whopping $50 in amazon and it comes in white, its the one I am using right now and it keeps my 7800X3D under 70c under full load, Thermalright is the cheapest hidden Gem in AIOs.
I would certainly have gone to a local Microcenter, it there were one here. I moved to Tennessee late last year, and built my gaming rig as my Christmas present to myself. I spent what I needed to spend, but a savings of a couple hundred bucks could have gotten me another 32 GB of RAM.
it is great, but they also have the 7700x/am5 mobo/32gb ddr5 6000 bundle for $400 and i think between the very similar performance as 5800x3d, newer platform with future upgrade potential, & extra memory it is pretty easily justifiable to go with it instead.
There are 5700X3D's too that will be really good for gaming on an AM4 board.. You can save a few bucks there on the budget side of things or for a CPU upgrade..
@wargolem2750 I upgraded my son's RX 5700XT to an open box 7800XT. He said he was fine still. Then I showed him the FPS jump in 1440p (all our monitors are that resolution, thank you Costco!). He said sure. I literally had to convince him.
5700X3D is $193 at Amazon. Newegg has an XFX 6750 XT for $300. That's the CPU/GPU deal for an AM4 gaming PC, especially on a strict budget. The 5800X3D only makes sense if you're spending a lot more on your GPU.
If you didn't think it was possible for MicroCenter to get even better you'd be surprised. At least for the store near me in PA if you do any of the bundles (Motherboard/CPU/RAM) they now allow you to swap the components if you pay the difference of their not bundled sales price. Last time I went to build a computer for my wife, taking advantage of the 7800X3D bundle. I was able to get the Gigabyte B650 Aero over the B650 Gaming X AX and only had to pay an additional $30. This really makes going for a certain theme or color much more accessible. Or in the case of the 5800X3D bundle you could upgrade to a 32GB kit for a few dollars more.
The MicroCenter bundles are great! Got the MSI board/7700x/32 gb RAM package for my son for a Xmas gaming rig for $299 plus tax. That's the deal the first poster purchased.
my 7800x3d runs about 30c higher than my previous 5800x3d. brings a lot more performance of course, but going with a bigger cooler than you would for a previous gen might be worth it. I top out at about 81c on cinabench, room temp is about 22c.
that's kinda weird. i have a 5800x3d under a 360mm aio with 28mm thick 120mm lian li fans in push/pull arrangement, and hit 84c playing cyberpunk. maybe i need a repaste & remount lol. might just do that this weekend, ha.
Love the concept and the video overall......but the whole microcenter portions drastically limit the reach of your audience since the majority do not have one of those stores near them.
Thanks for the input! The motherboard/memory/CPU were in the package from MicroCenter, and while I don't remember the exact price, I do remember thinking at the time the motherboard was essentially free. None of the package components were precisely what I would have chosen, but the package price I couldn't walk away from.
Micro Center also sells refurbished RTX 3060 and 3070 cards for the same price or less than the rtx 4060 but availability varies by location. My local stores (I live within driving distance of 4 stores) there are plenty. Micro Center bundles include 32GB of RAM for not much more
my local MC had an open box refurbished 3060ti for $200 this past week. pretty good price/performance, and really the most i'd care to spend for an 8gb card - but i do play a lot of single player, higher vram-usage games. if a person only really played competitive fps games, for example, 8gb would still be absolutely fine, of course! refurbed 3080s are 400, and that also seems like a pretty great deal compared to, say, 4060ti 8gb.
Thank you for the content! I actually used your videos to help me build my first pc last year and I have been meaning to get feedback because I am sure I made some mistakes in parts choice. I missed the deadline this month but hoping to get my parts list in next month. Keep up the good work!
What I wouldn't give for a Microcenter in Canada. Hell, even in more spots across the US, as they weren't anywhere close when I lived down there either and Fry's, the only semi-equivalent, had gone bust.
I got the Thermal Right Phantom Spirit air cooler based on your recommendations. I have it on a 5800X that used to IDLE in the 70's, but with this cooler it idles in the 40's and under load it only gets up to the 70's. The one draw back of these air coolers is if you're into aesthetics and want a "clean" build, having a giant air cooler may not be pleasing to look at, but they can definitely do the job.
1st build, most people have a case and an m.2 and power supply. And they would probably go with a pure 7700xt GPU, the motherboard and CPU and memory is $379 @ microcenter. GPU is $429. Liquid cooler can be purchased for $50. $850. If you need a case and power and M.2 add $400 Total $1250

Hi Paul from Leeds UK. I've been looking to build the cheapest 1080P mini itx gaming pc that will fit into the tight space of a living room TV stand with only 24cm height clearance. I looked and I looked and I can't build a pc for less than £1100. I can't understand why old Z390 or Z490 boards or even older B360 boards are still expensive. It's insane. Also is six core i5 decent enough for 1080P gaming ? I found case that would fit into my TV rack and they is the Silverstone Sugo 14. The Lian li / DAN case looks good. Anyhow I don't think it's possible to build a £700 pc anymore! Also i find fron reddit people have said the AMD 7600 XT to be a good 1080P video card along with the older AM4 4600G which is comparable to the 10700K apparently. But which is the absolute best 1080P video card thst can max out high ultra frame rates in 1080P for the cheapest price. 6600, 6700 or 6800XT ? I dont need 2K or 4K resolutions.
Hey, Paul. Thanks for all the tips over the years. I'm planning an upgrade for which I'd appreciate general advice. I'm looking to downsize from my ridiculously large Fractal Design Define 5 into something smaller but equally quiet. I intend to go for micro-ATX to allow me to use smaller cases but still have some PCIe slots free for futureproofing (I've had my current mobo/CPU for about 8 years and don't tend to feel the pressure to change them just to get the new shiny tech). I don't use HDDs any more, so there's no need for 3.5" bays, nor do I need 5.25" bays for anything. I chose the Define 5 for drive capacity and silence, and I'm happy with it's subdued aesthetic, so glass panels and RGB are no-nos. What cases would you recommend for me? Thanks.
I suggest ppl this after consider literally ALL (Energy cost increase, ram/vram/memory usage/mobility/performance demands/quality) A 100% aluminium chassi laptop with at least 3.2k 120hz screen, 16 core ryzen, 64gb ram, at least 16gb vram-ed rx 8000m or rtx 5000, windows 11 or linux. This is expensive = YES but its also cheap. Higher performance per watt results in time-savings or lower watt usage, a laptop already use lower watt and can be even set even further lower wattage. Calculate 7 years of use, compare the watt difference to a tower pc, consider increasing energy prices, consider increasing demand for higher ram/vram and in the end.. This expensive laptop wont cost more than a cheap laptop or a usual desktop pc after 7 years of use. Cost function: Y$ it starts, by time/use it increase by X$ (energy cost) and the X$ gets Z$ by price increases of the energy cost, last is the T$ for time difference of calculation speed compared to a cheaper pc. In the end... the expensive laptop will give you the best experience if it has the right hardware and quality.
I'd have chosen the 7800x3D also, but i'd have changed the nvme ssds for samsung 990 pro... almost at the same price range but better performance and more longevity. And i'd have chosen a different board too... look, you're already spending like 2k on this build... why not invest like just 100 more and get a really solid board, such as the AsRock Taichi Lite? It's top-notch high-end with premium components, stays cool and AsRock has way, way better customer service as well. And the liquid Freezer is indeed a good choice when going for AIOs, but a solid air cooler would do the job as well. The AMD CPUs aren't getting as hot as the Intels, and you can save some money that way. All around, you'd break even pretty much but would have gotten top-notch components all the way! Imo, it makes no sense to save just a few bucks if you're going to build something that is supposed to work over years to come. Rather invest just a tiny bit more and make sure you're getting the best you can for your money, while not overspending on anything!
My take away from this after a little poking about is either how suspiciously cheap those Thermalright AIO's are, or how overpriced the competitors are! I had a nice little upgrade in fall 2023 from my original Ryzen 1600 to a 5700x but am still happy to be using my Cooler Master 212 RGB Black Edition.. for anyone rocking a hotter chip though, I suppose even without knowing how proven these are in the field at this point, Thermalright seem to have some great entry level AIO tech.
Hey Paul. I am on my way of building my first gaming pc all by myself and I am thinking should do am4 or go for am5 socket.? My price point is around $800-50 +/- couple bucks.
Save/bank that 1000$ towards your next pc build years later, for now that i7 and 6750xt is fine for almost everything granted you dont go ultra on details on very heavy aaa games.
Im a bit confused... i heard on another channel that cpus only need to be fast enough to prevent bottlenecking in games. so what is the point of getting a more expensive CPU then?
I have my own recommendation on monitors. Best for productivity and gaming is a 32:9. If want a smaller 21:9, then use it dead center so your neck isn't constantly turned to look at the sweet spot. While a 2nd monitor works offset, my best recommendation is always 32:9 or a 3 screen setup with the best one in the middle.
Because it's bad value, it's just an overclocked 7600. You can do that in msi afterburner for free. The step up between the 6600 and 6600xt was decent. The same cannot be said about the 7600 and 7600xt.
So i have an AM4 itx board. And it just like 2 years old. Thing is i am worried about windows 10 end of life Bullshit. I need windows to run my work programs. Question is are there any AM4 itx boards that comply with the BS requirement to get my pc to effing windows 11? Thanks a bunch.

This his actual hidden gold amongst the YT madness! Very well done sir! Nice work Joe! Again, wicked great video guys!
I'm really glad you made this series Paul. I like your way of steering people away from bad purchasing decisions. It irks me when I see AMD 6 and 8 core processors being pared with AIOs. Like sure I can understand maybe a 12 core, 16 core, or an Intel CPU. However, when the CPU cooler cost exceeds 30% of the CPU cost you're making poor choices for both finances and your performance.
Great video with very solid advice! The problem with the AMD AM5 builds is that you should wait a until September for a 9000-series CPU and motherboard so that you can take advantage of much higher DDR5 speeds like 8000 Mhz.
I would of also chosen the 7800X3D but changed to the 360 AIO for the Thermalright Aqua Elite 240 AIO which is way better cooling performance then the AIR Cooler and its only a whopping $45.
@@lucasrem Nah, most of my games are CPU bottlenecked first, besides, he said 1080p maybe 1440 entry, wanted to be near 800 USD, and the 3060 has 12G, the bit of more memory might do you good for 1440p. Would prefer to spend a bit more and go AM5 32Gb DDR5 though.
Have a Microcenter 45 minutes away. My time is worth more than the savings I would get by going there. Having items delivered to my door is cheaper than driving there.
Literally any hardware made post 2015 will do, in that case. Unless you have more specific needs like wanting to run 4 different web browsers at the same time with 100 tabs each at 8k resolution etc, but if you just wanna run Google Chrome in 1080p for 3 tabs, even phone hardware handle that just fine.
Micro Center is an incredible store to build a computer and they have great deals and bundles. Just because he mentions it because it’s a good store doesn’t mean it’s an ad, it can just be good and a recommendation. You don’t need a build to browse the web.
Raspberry Pi, I just saved you a lot of money. Definitely not the fastest but if all you’re doing is looking at the internet it works. Hell, any N100 mini-pc will do the same.

That 750e with the 7900XT is going to shut down mid game. Get an 850W. I speak from personal experience on that one...
Save/bank that 1000$ towards your next pc build years later, for now that i7 and 6750xt is fine for almost everything granted you dont go ultra on details on very heavy aaa games.
Continue preaching the good word Paul. If you dont need liquid cooling, save your money. It will be ok.
Build 1. Just GPU TPD is 315 and power supply is 750. Is that okay?
Im a bit confused... i heard on another channel that cpus only need to be fast enough to prevent bottlenecking in games. so what is the point of getting a more expensive CPU then?
First upgrade is always to 7800x3D. No questions asked.
I didnt know about pc part picker, and i have shaved $500 off of what i was going to buy

Paul, what is the highest 40-series card you would pair with a 5900X?
Microcenter is GOATED!
why would anyone want to build now - bad time to build - just wait and enjoy even bigger value
Was anyone else sorta disappointed from computex this year?
Some of the prices of these computers are the equivalent to someone's Rent for an apartment.
Why everyone hatin on my 7600xt? It's faster and overclocks better than the 7600 and it renders my DavinciResolve projects fast AF??
Because it's bad value, it's just an overclocked 7600. You can do that in msi afterburner for free. The step up between the 6600 and 6600xt was decent. The same cannot be said about the 7600 and 7600xt.
@@whatyareckon5985 How is it a bad value when it renders my vids almost twice as fast?
So i have an AM4 itx board. And it just like 2 years old. Thing is i am worried about windows 10 end of life Bullshit. I need windows to run my work programs. Question is are there any AM4 itx boards that comply with the BS requirement to get my pc to effing windows 11? Thanks a bunch.
Nice! Jay is a cool cat digitally! And Paul, c'mon..... We can SWEAR like sailors over at Joe's pad! Lol!
I really like these videos! I really like PCpartPickin! Great options dude! This his actual hidden gold amongst the YT madness! Very well done sir! Nice work Joe! Again, wicked great video guys!
You and PC Builder should collab and do a super episode
I swear that I was going to send in my 7600X black Friday build*!

Lol I'm gonna fix simpleflips' sponsor's builds later. They're so bad.
IMO the xfx 6800 is a great recommendation I love my xfx 6900xt👌
I honestly would never use a air cooler for a 7800X3D.
I upgraded to the 5700x3d paired with a 6700xt and it's been a beast of a combo. Should be good for another 4 years or so.
I would of also chosen the 7800X3D but changed to the 360 AIO for the Thermalright Aqua Elite 240 AIO which is way better cooling performance then the AIR Cooler and its only a whopping $45.
wow and zamzam water
24 hour drive to my "local" Microcenter. They do have the inland store on Amazon though.
Swim you do ?
Joke ?
Cool !
Second build, i'd buy a 32Gb kit, sell the 16Gb kit, and i'd sooner buy an RTX 3060 12G honestly.
balletje
RTX 5060 you meant ??
Honesty online ?
@@lucasrem Nah, most of my games are CPU bottlenecked first, besides, he said 1080p maybe 1440 entry, wanted to be near 800 USD, and the 3060 has 12G, the bit of more memory might do you good for 1440p.
Would prefer to spend a bit more and go AM5 32Gb DDR5 though.
Paul I need your input, should I go for a b650 or x670-e
why so old ?
@@lucasrem what do you mean "why so old"?

Thank You💯👍🤝
Yay spades!
Hey... Microcenter... Why no Seattle store yet!?

I can't get behind the 5800X3D for a new build. The R5 7600 is as fast and the socket can be upgraded in.
Have a Microcenter 45 minutes away. My time is worth more than the savings I would get by going there. Having items delivered to my door is cheaper than driving there.

How about a build for the web? Don't game. How come I feel like this is an ad for Micro Center?
Literally any hardware made post 2015 will do, in that case. Unless you have more specific needs like wanting to run 4 different web browsers at the same time with 100 tabs each at 8k resolution etc, but if you just wanna run Google Chrome in 1080p for 3 tabs, even phone hardware handle that just fine.
If it's truly just for web browsing, don't bother with a PC. Just get a cheap tablet and external keyboard.
