It’s a easy and a tough decision. Easy because that’s were your born and raise. You are attached to the food and culture, the way of life. But it’s tough because there are limitations to your advancement in your home country. So if you get that opportunity to go to a more advance country, you take it, leaving all the familiarities behind. It’s not easy. Great topic sis. 👍
Iam going back in March 2025 to celebrate my mothers 88 and my uncles 90 years in Santiago with 100 other Family members the majority flying in from different states. We are so excited!
I believe the reason they love it there so much is because when you’re there, you’re on vacation, whereas when you’re here, you’re essentially back in the real world. I don’t mind it here in the States; I’ve been here since I was nine, so I’ve gotten accustomed to it.
Exactly! Those are my feelings. I’m a born and raised Dominican, and I’ve been living in NYC for 15 years now. I travel to the DR three times a year and everytime I return to the U.S. is a “welcome back to reality. Welcome back to work.”
Yes, I can definitely empathize. I lived in USA for quite some time and when I came back it took me a while to get used to life in DR. But, as time went on, I got so into it that I finally decided to stay here permanently!
It might be that for many people, but it isn’t the case for everybody. Travelling back to the US from the DR feels fake. I even got the same feeling in Florida, very fake and for me Florida is just a place to go on vacation (and visit some family that live there.) Nice, clean, orderly; but fake. Though the winter weather in FL is a million times better than in northern US, at least from Orlando* southward to Miami since that’s the Florida I know. The DR is where it feels better. People feel more genuine, things don’t appear to be fake, the food taste better than in the US (even Florida), the scenery, even looking at the signs that point that way for SD, this way for La Vega, this route for Puerto Plata. That is simply how it is. The DR is better. * I know the Orlando area since the mid-90’s, long time ago. The place has changed a lot and yet, many places are familiar. With the DR I know how it was in the 80’s and 90’s, and see it now and on many fronts it’s much better now. I remember when SD hardly had highrises, when Las Américas Highway was on cement and in many ways looked less sophisticated than now, how after the Kilómetros the Duarte Highway became a tight road with one lane up and the other down and passing through every town -and remember when the road was being widened in the La Vega - Santiago stretch around 1994, seen it in person. I still remember how you went into the towns and they were full of signs above the road, particularly in commercial areas and do much more. The DR of today is a different place in many aspect, overall better and in some things worse.
I may be the odd one here, but the US is a depressive country, even if you live in a nice neighborhood. If someone feels their quality of life would be better in the DR, they should move back if they can. I think every Dominican here would agree that it’s almost a given that Dominicans living in the US will either develop some mental illness or obesity; I’ve seen it time and time again. Your health and your happiness are worth more than whatever money you’ll make in the US. I believe if most people put the energy and brains they put to work in the US, they could make it in the DR too. You came, you saw, and you are in no obligation to stay if it’s not the place for you.
I lived in both DR the US. Certain things were the exact same in terms of the cultures (for me & how I was raised0 I knew but the biggest swap I saw between the two is "money vs peace" . But i like both places. I've had experiences in other countries, that make the 'problems' of those 2 look like cake walks.
Yo creo que todos los dominicanos que están allá, están sintiendo lo mismo, uno lo admiten y otro lo callan, por diferentes razones. PERO RD ES EL MEJOR PAÍS DEL MUNDO!!!
I lived in Hawaii for 6.5 yrs and while it is still America quote unqoute, it's like living in another country. The people are different, culture and lifestyle. Had something tragic not happened I would have never moved back to mainland America. In Hawaii. White people were the minority and did not come there and act like they owned everything cause they didn't. There was no blatant racism against people of color and I never had one issue with that while living there. It was a different world that I had never experienced before. And now, me and my wife are coming to the DR in march to see properties on the north shore and where we want to invest in and live. This will be different for sure but it's island life and I have done it before so I'm not afraid. And my wife is excited that we can live somewhere tropical and not have to work but simply enjoy the rest of our lives together. America is great for one thing and that is making money. Other than that it's just another country. The entitlement racist white people feel they have in America is intolerable and is what makes it a disgusting place to live. The guns, mass shootings, misogyny and treatment of immigrants is appalling. I have watched 100's of videos about your country and I can honestly say, I choose the DR over America at this point in my life all day everyday. And, I can't hardly wait until we are there full time enjoying life with good people who care about other people. I have friends there now and work with people who go there often and own property so I get first hand knowledge about DR and all it has to offer. I am grateful that the DR would accept me and my wife and we be able to contribute to the economy and learn the culture. Thank you for your videos. They are very informative. Gracias 👍🏿
Wow thank you so much for sharing your personal story! I'm so flattered that you're here commenting and watching my videos! And yes, DR will welcome you with open arms! Bienvenidos!!

I'm a self described Morenocano! I'm getting my pensionado in gear. I hope to be done by 2026. Mi casa es en Bani y mi finca en Peralta. 🇺🇲🇩🇴
Heyyy that's great!!
I’m trying to move there. Im looking for a nice condo or villa what’s the best area inexpensive close to shopping beach etc.
That's a great question! I'm planning to do a video about the best places to live in the DR soon!

Where is the members channel?
Its not a separate channel, just find the "join" button on my normal channel
Imaginate 40 ańos sintiendo eso
Yo conozco gente que tienen 40 años añorando retirarse en RD
When a person makes the decision to move to another country, that person needs to have the mind set up to adjust to a new environment.
That's right, bit sometimes it's so hard!
This is definitely a chic video . Too emotional . A decision is made based on logic and benefits . Pro and Cons period ( a mans view )
I'm a chic and I approve this masculine message😅
As long as you have the money you okay if your money not right then stay in the USA 🇺🇸
It's that simple😁
