    Back in the early 90s, I have always been obsessed with a TV that fits inside your pocket. Inside my head was, this TV would be able to play TV channels so I could watch cartoons all day. Fast forward to 2020s and here we are. I guess my childhood dream came true. Not exactly a TV but we're way past TVs now.

    The best thing that makes the Steam Deck so amazing is the awesome trackpads. I've used probably about 90% of consoles, played on laptops, and currently play on my PC so switching back forth (with gyro too!) makes it so convenient to play.
    The OLEDs also get a startling amount of battery life over the other handhelds lol. Legion Gos and Allys have great performance (at 2x cost) but absolutely struggle without their power cords. Steam Deck can emulate half of the games for like 3x longer due to all of the efficiency upgrades.
    It's genuinely the most impressive console I've ever seen. To have my entire steam library on the Deck is stellar, and I can effectively emulate anything I want (and high end stuff can be streamed from my PC lmao.)

    • @SpaceyJace
      @SpaceyJace  2 месяца назад

      Yea I feel like they didn't do enough marketing for the OLED, I thought the upgrade was just the screen but they added a lot more quality of life improvements! Thanks for watching 😁

    You pretty much covered exactly how I feel. I was a kid who wasn't always home due to family stuff, so I always had a handheld on me like a GBA, with the SP being my favorite at the time. I also had a PS2 and N64 at home and all I ever wanted was to play those games on the go. When the PSP came out I was so excited, even though it felt like a bit of a compromise with only one thumbstick. Flash forward to the Switch, and it became my all time favorite console strictly because of the versatility, but also because I loved the generation of games Nintendo put out for it.
    About a year and a half ago I picked up a Steam Deck LCD because it seemed like something I'd enjoy, and damn did I enjoy it. It easily took the place of my favorite console of all time, even beyond my more powerful PC, because of the portability. When the OLED came out, I bought one for my gf for Christmas and while I was setting it up, I decided it was a worthwhile investment to sell my LCD and upgrade. Easily the best decision I've ever made, I highly recommend it. The LCD is still amazing, but the OLED is on another level, or at the very least brings some very solid quality of life improvements. I'm really looking forward to whatever the next iteration of the SD is whenever Valve decides it's the right time to make it, but I'd rather them take their time like they said to make sure the tech is a good enough jump in the future.
    Anyway, solid video! You gained a sub.

    It's honestly an Amazing device! I'm a 64GB version owner myself and I absolutely love it as a "companion device". I played main missions in Cyberpunk on my gaming PC soaking in the impressive story, audiovisuals and atmosphere, and then I do a lot of the smaller gigs on the Steam Deck. It wouldn't matter if the Steam Deck had 4x the performance, I would still prefer to play it on the big screen with my hi-fi setup. So performance is REALLY no issue for me. However, games these days are filled to the brim with great content that I honestly never find time to play. Many times I just need an easier, more accessible and comfortable way to do it, and that's where the Steam Deck comes in. I have been ploughing through games like never before since I got the Steam Deck
    This summer I have played Stardew Valley, Super Mario Sunshine (to completion, the perfect summer game) as well as tons of old DOS games, like "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis". It has been brilliant to run on the Steam Deck. Not to mention that DOS games scale up perfectly to 1280x800 with 4x integer scale, making them look absolutely gorgeous, filling up the whole screen as well! :)

    Steamdeck is a really cool device. But it’s too big and bulky for me, I can’t really see it as handheld, it’s closer to a labtop than a handheld for me.
    However, it’s awesome that people are really enjoying it.

  • @MrKinein
    @MrKinein 2 месяца назад +1

    Awesome video and editing! Was fun watching. Also you have interesting approach - play on PC first, then on downtime you can play it in worse quality but in more comfortable position with Steam Deck. I like choosing a device for a game and stick to it for that game.
    I have a lot of gaming devices and love gaming in general. It is amazing how far handheld gaming come. But it always was, is, and will be several steps down compared to stationary device (PC\console). Currently even low\med settings are quite beautiful and in my opinion the only thing holding graphics down is resolution. Typical setup of steam deck 800p is a little low resolution-wise, however it becomes worse in modern games, where it is even lower than that. There are no drastically more powerful handheld devices than steam deck. Also they all big and bulky.
    What I prefer - cloud gaming. Wait wait wait, hear me out! I meant local streaming from my PC. Currently I use the Logitech G Cloud for it and I like it more than a steam deck. First of all, local streaming works flawlessly if set up correctly. Lag is unnoticeable even for hardcore games (about 30-40 ms), picture quality is good and stable. It has 1080p screen with better colors than steam deck LCD. It is 40% lighter while having same screen and ergonomic controls. And it allows you to play 10+ hours from a battery, with highest settings possible (if your PC allows).
    Yeah Steam Deck is king in terms of controls. It gives you more console-like experience and simpler to use. But local streaming is my go-to way of playing PC games. It allowed author both play with beautiful graphics, and where he would like at home

    • @SpaceyJace
      @SpaceyJace  2 месяца назад +1

      Yea tbh if I'm mainly playing in my house and just transitioning between PC and deck then maybe it would better to focus on that use case and get a dedicated streaming device, my Internet is good enough to stream well on the deck so would be a good idea 💡 thanks for watching 😀

    The Steamdeck is too large, to be a great portable device. I mainly use it as a HTPC these days. Also it's quite weak with its 720p focus, dock it to a tv or even a monitor and you're greeted with very ugly image quality and thanks to the low amount of ram even 1080p resolution can become problematic. The 16GB RAM for the GPU+CPU just doesn't cut it really, they should have gone with 32GB instead, then perhaps performance would be better and you wouldn't need to play PC games at the lowest possible setting.

    Okay, i gotta step in here: "Granting you access to the latest PC Games like Red Dead 2 and Elden Ring" ... "It's like a portal into the PC gaming world for console gamers" ... erm, those are both console games...

    Steam deck is not a handheld though. Portable, but not handheld, it's too fucking big, heavy and bulky
