Making any kind of change is hard and there’s going to be challenges and setbacks. If you truly want to buy less and use up what you have, you will keep working at it. What if instead of no-buy, you set yourself a monthly budget that works for you and then you could spend it guilt free or save it for a future month. You would still have to make hard decisions to stick to the budget, but would still be able to try new things or old favorites. I, too, struggle with this and in other areas but we must be reasonable and give ourselves grace too. 💕
I have been doing this. It helps me a ton, because I allow myself to roll forward unspent $ to the next month. For instance, I am planning purchasing very little in August because I have a lot I want to buy in September. My August $ will boost my September budget for wax. I am also having daily talks with myself about FOMO and how it really isn't that bad.
I've done that before as well. It's hard sometimes because there will be big months and then much smaller months and it's hard to fully predict for me what type of budget I really need. It's not perfect, but skipping some openings and buying less at the ones that I am purchasing from is helping a lot.
I agree that it’s hard when there’s so many good vendors out there to buy from. Probably part of the reason I try not to watch too many videos about vendors that I haven’t purchased from - otherwise I’ll be tempted to try from them too.
I do the same. I try to skip videos from openings I didn't participate in but want to support my friends at the same time. I have limited will power though haha
Totally makes sense sticking with a handful of vendors. I want to support them all but wallet does not. I’m still going to try this year the candle nurse she sent me samples and I love her wax .
Hey Alexis! All of this is so relatable! I’ve been trying to come up with a self-control plan that works for me. I’m going to HAVE to choose my main vendors and just stop with the others for awhile. I feel for you RUclipsrs who are always reviewing wax! If you did all sorts of videos pertaining to the wax you already have; I’d be interested! (Like if you did things like the top 5 throwers in your collection! That was just an example!) working with what you already have? ❤
I have done a lot of those in the past and try to throw them in here and there. You're right though I absolutely should do more of them. There is LOADS of content I could put out without buying wax. I want my channel to be lifestyle anyway, and not "just" wax. Thank you so much for the suggestion and I hope that you are having a great weekend!
I failed in July, too. I met my yearly budget by spending this month! I hear you. I am hopeful for the rest of my year. It's so good to know that I am not alone. I love these videos your making and a monthly update would be awesome. 😊❤
You've done great! No need to beat yourself up. Yes September will be rough. Myself, I'm going to to try really hard to keep it low buy. I agree, Scentsy has really knocked it out of the park for the Fall/Winter and I'm so happy about that! Thanks for sharing 💜
oh I'm not beating myself up. Such is life lol just trying to be transparent on how July went. Hoping for a good August so we can go ham in September haha Thank you for watching my friend!
Yes Alexis, I need to do the same. Only buy from a handful of vendors. It's just hard because I have favorite scents from specific vendors that I like to buy. Ugh the struggle is real.
You look really pretty, Alexis! Thank you so much for sharing your low buy update. It is a struggle to not buy as much wax. I didn’t do well in July. I’m planning to stock up on Fall and Christmas scents in August and do a no buy in September until the rest of the year. With the exception of a candle monthly subscription that I have from a vendor in my state which I put on pause until September. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
@@AlexisSchlueter I hope the same for you! I’m definitely having a great weekend since I took off work this weekend and took vacation time this week! Thank you so much, Alexis! I realized after seeing what Scentsy is releasing for the Fall and Winter from others that my no buy will be vendor wax since I have a lot more vendor wax. Lately, I’ve been melting Scentsy consistently since it holds up to the AC. BTW the vendor in my state that I have the candle subscription for is called beblends and they had recently moved to a new location which is exciting!
I try to only buy from 2-3 vendors and that's it! I find that so often there is rarely a scent out there that another vendor hasn't had their own spin on. Every vendor has a good Palo bakery. Every vendor has a great SPC blend. Every vendor has a great smoky scent when I'm in the mood for it. I really sat with my collection for the beginning part of the year and kept track of what I was pulling and wanted to melt. For me, I would much rather stick with a vendor that I have a high likely hood of getting scents I want/like. I am no longer buying from vendors who will release a scent once and then not again for up to a year. So I also took a look at how their openings work. I love Super Tarts. They have some of my favorite scents. But her current business model doesn't really work with what I'm looking for - and that's totally okay! It's not a good fit for me right now, but it works for her. I respect it. But I left the group. I didn't want to be tempted by random things. I find that I would rather buy bigger quantities and the bricks aren't enough wax for my space. With L3 closing and SGA out of commission until next year, I tried out a few new to me vendors (Knowles Farm Scents, Salt Mountain Melts, and Second and Spruce) because I'll buy from Teddy Bee's and I'll buy from Lavender and Speckles, so I wanted to find another vendor to fill in any gaps. For me, staying out of the Facebook groups is the biggest thing to stop me from making impulse purchases. I also now try to only buy what I can reasonably melt. August is a no buy month for me for wax, so I'm looking forward to September!
I totally hear that. I love her wax, but I have been back and forth with ST for similar reasons. She is having a fall preorder though! I don't know any details yet. September is going to be an epic month!! and sad for my wallet lol
Change can be hard. I am really trying to stick a very low buy. I did not do well in July…I made 6 purchases during the month and some I do regret now and I hate feeling like that. For August so far the only 2 openings I am doing is the TB RTS and L3 only because I asked her to pour a couple of scents so I have to go in. It’s funny cause I was thinking the same thing for next year and just purchase from my top 3-4 vendors only but still not purchase from every release they have. We are heading in the right direction and I think we can do this ❤
I tried a few different things last year & this year to decrease my wax purchasing. It's trial and error until you find something that works for you. I only have a few top vendors. Thankfully, they all did their pre-orders before June. That's one of the reasons I made it through June and July not purchasing anything. My no buy will come to an end whenever Teddy Bees has her pre-order. I wanna get some more Christmas Trees & Cream.
There are no rules with Teddy Bee's. You get whatever you want!! lol hopefully christmas trees and cream is offered this next go around! I'm thinking probably september preorder
I only buy retail (Walmart wax), the occasional Scentsy (thru a quarterly club) and Teddy Bee’s. Between those three I have curated a lovely stash without breaking the bank. I recommend narrowing down who and where you buy from. Leave the groups/unfollow the pages of all vendors that are not your most favorite.
It's great in theory and I know that will help me in the long run, but I love reviewing and talking about wax here on my channel and have so many vendors that I love purchasing from. It's all about balance and i'm working on that which I think is progress. Thank you so much for watching!
Good Morning! I appreciate you so much for doing this! Oh my gosh the openings… It WAS SO HARD! I really struggled! with everything I missed!! I felt like everything was going OK until the Second and Spruce pop up came! I really really wanted to go in… But I did not, I did not do the Knowles Farms RTS either, Like you, I really wanted to try Dessas again ( especially knowing that her wax formula has changed) but I did not. I did place a relatively small order for lavender and speckles. I did not do salt Mountain either. I did order a few loaves from L3 . I have to be done with L3 I did place an order yesterday with Knowles! Tried to go small but a few duplicates jumped in my cart 🤷♀️🤣 I’m definitely leaning towards eliminating a few vendors. I have to !! It’s a ballance for sure! Take your wins my friend and be gentle on yourself!! I think for me atleast, I get so happy with the thrill of ordering and then when it comes to I’m very excited but I definitely have the thoughts of … Really … did you really …It’s eye opening !! I need to make some changes, no doubt about it! I think many of us feel the exact same! We did check off quite a few things off of the baby registry ! 💙💙 so that makes me feel like it’s all worth skipping so much! I hope you have a great weekend 🩷🩷🩷
I ended up skipping knowles yesterday. It was really tough but everything comes back around. Maybe i'll participate in the RTS in a month or so. Yay for baby registry! Yes, saving the money on wax helps with other areas so it's a win win. Have a great weekend, Melissa!
My Teddy B's should be here on Tuesday. It is my first order. I completely lost my mind with that order. My box is 17 pounds! I think I purchased 32 items! I am so nervous about the RTS because I will be smelling my order ahead of time. I am trying really hard to tell myself that there is only so much wax a person can melt in a reasonable amount of time. I have also been influenced by something the candle nurse said. She mentioned that she felt bad for getting so much of a sought-after scent and possibly causing others to miss out, who haven't gotten so enjoy it. That struck me. Others may be missing out because I am choosing to overindulge. I mean, don't get me wrong, I have favorite scents. I am finding that I am enjoying trying some new things too. If I constantly hoard my favorites, it limits expanding my tastes. IDK, just a crazy rambling. Love your video. Don't be too hard on yourself. We are all works in progress. 🥰🥰
ahh i'm jealous. My order hasn't shipped yet. I'm just hoping I get it before the RTS at this point lol Sounds like an epic order!! That is a good thought. I try not to get TOO much of any one thing, but for sure love to stock up on my favorites. You're not rambling. These are all thoughts we have and they are valid!
Hey Alexis! I totally get how you’re feeling. Reining it in is so tough and I’m like a dog when he sees a squirrel….easily distracted from my goal 😅 But like you I’m just going to try and stick with my favorites for the rest of this year and keep my orders reasonable.
Its my first TB purchase coming but its been stuck on label created since 7/31 no other updates and doesn't seem to have been shipped is that normal? I am surprised its coming ups since its only souffles. I didnt think I ordered much but then again she has a large list and I even skipped quite a few of scents also. Only 3 scents did i get a back up souffle in.
My TB order is still in pre-shipment too but she posted on FB the other day that they are still working on getting things shipped /picked up by USPS and UPS today and Monday.
@@jillm5056 thank you. I didn't see that in group. I should have but been hurricane prepping. I appreciate it. I did see several people got their orders already and I wasn't sure what was going on.

I love these videos so much. You are doing great. 🎉 progress is rarely linear.
That is a great perspective, and you are correct! Thank you, Stacy

Omg I’ve literally said the same thing. Find and choose my top 5 vendors and drop the rest. Sounds harsh, but needs to happen. Awesome thoughts.
It does. Ugh. Doesn't mean the other vendors aren't fantastic but when does it end? lol
