It was a lot of things but the alternative soundtrack was integral to what makes punk so exceptional. It helped draw attention to issues that particularly the young and disenfranchised felt no one understood or even gave a shit about. It provided a cohesive glue that changed and motivated many to adopt a "give it a go" atitude. Like we could change the world and if we didn't, at least we had a great time trying.

Me neither. I think they were just in the right place at the right time - acting outrageous in London in the late 70's when punk music was making headlines. It got them some notoriety as the first all female punk band.

(Even a few old covers)The Slits…most, if not all of their songs were dub and reggae style,So I agree, the only thing “punk” about them is their attitude and the guitarist dated that dude from The Clash. 😂 cheers
