I saw a vid one time where the guy said that the spinning broadcast wheel is positioned too low so the granuals hit the inside of the wheels causing uneven broadcasting of the fert. I think he was correct on that
@@grassymitten5324 I agree and more aggravating is that if the lawn is wet (as is recommended) the fert will build up on the inside of the wheels and make an unholy mess. I have one that I am putting in the recycle bin tomorrow.
@darrylcrum2495 ok, what are you going to get instead? A lot of good options out there. I’m still using my Edgegaurd mini. I really haven’t had too many issues with it yet.
That’s what I’m rocking, too! Super useful tool and best bang for your buck. Unless you have acres of land I don’t know why people buy those $100 units.
@@grassymitten5324 I mean from the fertilizer being throwing into the wheels and preventing it from spreading out over the lawn. Guess you will have to keep us updated on if you run into darker green stripes where your walking path was during the spreading.
@@jjmaccky9198 I've own one of these for 4 years and the wheels don't block the spread due to the spreader shooting fertilizer in a cone pattern as it spreads out the farther it shoots out. Never ever notice any striping in my lawn unless its because you over lapped the same part of the lawn. Even the expensive spreaders that have even bigger wheels don't stripe unless its user error.
Yes you can. I used it with the Spectracide insect killer granular. There should be spreader settings on the bag as well. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching 👍
I purchased the spreader and several days after I applied fertilizer to my yard I noticed dark stripes. The dark stripes were were the wheels passed over the lawn. I'd give it a ZERO STAR rating. Obviously, a good spreader actually evenly spreads fertilizer and this broadcast spreader does not meet that basic requirement.
That spreader is ridiculous to use. It will stripe. Your lawn doesn't matter how fast you go. You've got to keep the right wheel turning all the time and the edge guard is the only way to put the fertilizer and seed down so you get consistent ground contact. We used it and we have a stripped lawn.
That spreader is a piece of garbage, the hollow wheels collect pallets of fertilizer, and distribute them heavily on the inside diameter of wheel. It will leave burn stripes where the wheels contact the turf.
It may be an old design because I noticed when I bought mine a few days ago that some of the design is a bit different. "All of our broadcast spreaders under went a design change at the end of 2020 that changed rotor angle and changed the agitator back to a 2-wing agitator. These changes reduces the potential for the product to hit the wheels."

I just got one today off the FB Market for $15 in very good condition. I'll be using it this weekend.
That’s awesome. You got a good deal!

I did see that. Supposedly the spreader was modified to correct this issue. I have had any issues with mine.

I just used a can of great stuff and filled in my wheels ~ $5.
Great video. Very truthful, and thoughtful.

@@grassymitten5324 no problem, great content! Thanks brotha!
Yeah its funny when I see people in my neighborhood with huge lawn mowers and lawn equipment for their 1500 square foot yard.
Thank you! Just ordered one!
Enjoy!👍
Wow, I learned alot. Do you have any videos on using Roundup ???? Thank you so so so much.
Not yet but I can definitely make one for you. Thanks for the idea

Here is a video I did do on a weed killer product.
Good review, thank you!
I appreciate you watching, thank you.
Aren't these notorious for striping grass with how the wheels are higher than the actual spinning mechanism?
I have noticed the back end does drag along the grass a bit

Ok I’ll keep an eye out for that.
Hey JJMaccky just wanted to let you know I posted a video in regards to your question. I hope it is helpful for you.

spinner sits below wheels causing yellow lines / stripes.
A lot of people say that but I myself have not had this problem. Thanks for the comment.

The wheels are junk
It’s definitely a budget spreader

Nothing wrong with that. Got to love small local businesses 👍
