You guys need to stop comparing models, especially Naomi vs Gisele. It's boring already. They are both iconic, but still very different than each other. Naomi is mostly well known for her amazing catwalk, Gisele is the whole package: she was good in both editorials and catwalks. She was considered the last supermodel after the originals, and later on an Ubermodel. She was number 1 in both commercial and High Fashion, which wasn't common at the time. She brought back the curves and ended the heroin chic. She is ICONIC. I'm not saying she is better than Naomi at all. I truly respect both. Naomi opened door for black models and has a huge respect for everyone in the fashion industry. Naomi LIVED for fashion, while Gisele was never into to it but still was very professional. You guys need to stop comparing models, especially Naomi vs Gisele. It's boring already. They are both iconic, but still very different than each other. Naomi is mostly well known for her amazing catwalk, Gisele is the whole package: she was good in both editorials and catwalks. She was considered the last supermodel after the originals, and later on an Ubermodel. She was number 1 in both commercial and High Fashion, which wasn't common at the time. She brought back the curves and ended the heroin chic. She is ICONIC. I'm not saying she is better than Naomi at all. I truly respect both. Naomi opened door for black models and has a huge respect for everyone in the fashion industry. Naomi LIVED for fashion, while Gisele was never into to it but still was very professional. Clearly in this video Naomi did better since these fashion shows happened in the late 1998, beginning of 1999 and Gisele had just been walking few years during fashion shows, she hadn't developed that amazing catwalk yet. If you watch fashion shows during S/S 2000 you can see how more comfortable she would walk.
Mateus, what you are saying is a load of shit! Naomi has transceded every boundaries, including racism and the willful shunning of black models to be the supermodel. She broke many barriers. Gisele, or whatever her name is, had it much easier than Noami, irrespective of when she came on the model scene. In fact, all "white" models had, and still have it, easier than "black" models. So for someone like Noami to achieve what she has, it means that she worked three times harder than her "white" counterparts and she has the "IT" factor. So, shut the hell up with your balderdash. Naomi has presence and she is very memorable. Gisele looks like another tall Caucasian woman walking in Manhattan.
