'All work was done in Maya...' Good god. It looks like actual clay. Well I'm glad you got a job in the industry because it'd be a waste of talent as purely a hobby. Excellent job.

Maya is a free program anyone can use (with beneficial perks if you pay) It is likely he doesn't currently have a job doing this though, he definitely deserves one. I hope GG at least send him an invite to do an animation for there channel to help promote his work. This guy definitely works harder then most of the GG animation fanbase.

Maya most definitely is not free. There is a trial you can download, but that is limited to one month. After that, It's $185/mo, $1.2k/year, $2.7k/2 years or $4k/3 years. You may be thinking of Maya LT which was a much cheaper but still not free cut down version available on steam, but that was discontinued.

You can sign up for a free stundent license. It's really simple and lasts for a maximum of 3 years i think. Then you can just sign up again. As far as i can tell there's no difference between the stundent version and the paid version, other than that you might get in trouble if you start making money using the free license.

      $1.2k/year, $2.7k/2 years
      That math doesn't seem right.

its not real claymation. Its computer animated, and made to look like clay. If you look closely at it you can tell. Still a good animation though.

Watching the episode over I realized another thing I like about this. Ben didn't just animate a story the grumps said, or a thing that happened in the game. He wrote a story by really cleverly editing the audio that was there to make something totally new.
It's like what the editors of a movie like Batman V. Superman have to do but, well, good.

I was gonna say, there's no way this was real life clay models because that would take far more work than I would expect from a fan made Grumps animation. Still, it looks like actual clay and it's really fun. I love the smooth movements and facial animations, it's just a delight to watch.
