I caught the Cutting Crew while you were scanning FM. Love that band. I like this player as well. Really thinking about grabbing one. Thanks for the video.

Thanks! You’re pretty quick on the music ID, maybe faster than the Google copy write bots. 😂

Great review. This radio would be very useful for me when I want to play my old audio cassettes. The FM sounds pretty good on it with the long antenna that it has. Have a Happy New Year and a great 2022.

Seems like it’s fairly respectable, but I’d like to know what that magnet would do over time.
    Cool review.

This looks really solid and well put together. Does it feel that way in your hand? There are a few Walkman style personal stereos out there that are very cheap and flimsy

It seems to have a good build quality for the price.

I, too, have issues with the speaker magnet being so close to the cassette itself also. I wonder if this could be shielded better?

Probably should have had the speaker on the back side of the radio and not the front.

@@TheRadiogeek agreed. Used to have a small Panasonic that did just that. Small speaker and battery compartment were on the back.

I have owned various portable cassette players which have the loudspeaker attached to the cassette door, and I've never known the speaker magnet to cause problems. That said, I'd never even thought about that magnet causing issues, but of course cassette tape being magnetic, can be damaged by magnetic fields.

I used to take my little AM radio to bed and hide under the covers and listen to the CBS Radio Mystery Theater [ mostly with E.G.Marshall.]. I hid , not from the story, but from mom - especially on School nights.
When I got caught, I could usually use the excuse that if I didn’t hear the end, id be up all night wondering about it - which is really what I would have done.
    📻🤣

I used to do the same thing with CBS radio mystery theater and then in the morning struggle to get up so I could catch the school bus in the morning.
      Good times for sure!

Does this unit have stereo sound through headphones when you're listen to tapes or FM radio?

I wonder if it has a class D amplifier or is it using transistors?

Most of the low cost radios I have seen use a Chinese 8002 audio amplifier IC. Its like the Chinese version of the LM386.

I was wondering because it uses 5 vdc USB( probably regulated to 3) or 3 vdc with batteries. I didn't know those 8002 could operate at that low of voltage. If I recall the original Sony walkman was headphones only because of low voltage. That's an impressive little radio, might order one to play my old cassettes.
