Great to see you finally included all that is glory, Bald and Bearded! 😉 I had faded sideburns in the past. It looked good, but I got tired of maintaining it. So this beard journey I just go from bald to bearded. Quick and easy! 😄
Not bald but I think this is relevant on how to trim/fade sideburns regardless. Matt is awesome. Great to see collaboration within the bearded community!
Been thinking about buzzing my hair back down, so I had to re-watch this one in case I finally make the big cut. Love knowing that I have the answers to most all my beard questions right here on the Dan C RUclips channel. Thanks, Teach!
I do appreciate that you don't try play it off like you know everything, stay humble. Great attribute!!! I believe I would fade it when I buzz my head. Thank you for the video.
What good information, unfortunately I am going bald by leaps and bounds and I have never known how to cut my sideburns well, I have always done it with a straight cut and this style of sideburns suits me very well for my shaved head fantastic video...
I've been growing out my beard for a little over 2 months now, and am about to shave my head once I decide on a set of clippers to buy, and this is exactly the video I've been looking for.
Being a master barber and a buzz headed long beard newby, I’m finding the top-down short to long method being easier because that’s the way I’ve always done tapered haircuts; this is just the opposite direction. Love the content!
Awesome video!! Matt you KILLED IT!!! I would never trust myself with all that hahahaha Really good job man it looks reaaaaallllly good!!! 💯💯💯💯 Thanks Dan!!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼👊🏼
As a bald man (genetics) who also shaves his head. I don’t go as bald, I leave a little more. I use a similar method, just in reverse. I use the higher setting to lower the sideburns, then gradually fade the higher I go. I find it easier this way. Eventually getting to the same length as my head. To be honest I don’t like being skin bald or very close to it. The contrast between bald to beard is a tad more than I prefer. Great videos. 👍🏻
I’m bald and bearded and I prefer the fade on my mug. However, I am way too nervous to attempt doing a fade myself despite the zillion times that I’ve already watched Matt’s video. The instructions are spot on and detailed, but I just don’t trust myself to do it the right way. So, I wait 3 months to get my beard trimmed professionally and get the fade then. Sure wish I had Matt’s level of confidence to do it myself!
Nice collaboration and great seeing Matt on the channel. I use a couple of other techniques for tapering my sideburns. I use the corner of the clippers to eliminate any hard lines. My best technique is not using a guard but I angle a clipper comb to get a fast taper and not have to keep changing guards. The comb is equivalent to a 1 guard which matches my haircut.
Bald by choice here, I’ve done both methods and both styles. The faded sideburns are probably my preferred style being a bit of a perfectionist lol. I prefer to fade from the top down into the beard.
@@DanCBearded I had to overcome my perfectionist tendencies to grow a big beard, before I did this I never grew it out longer than 3 or 4 millimeters. A long beards looked disheveled from a perfectionist point of view
I shave my balding head with a DE safety razor. For the fade/transition to my beard here’s what I do. It’s simple and works for me. Basically I shave my cheek line from the corner of the mouth to the top of where my ear attaches to my head. From the side it’s basically a straight line coming to a sharp point in front of the ears. Not everybody is going to like this look and that’s fine. It’s simple and it works for me. I had to use a comb as a guide rail for my razor at first but now I’m comfortable enough with the method to free hand it.
Yup learned how to do this by watching Matt's video on this. Changes the way the beard looks completely. 1 year and 5 months bearded now. Beard up boys. Winter is coming. Nature's scarf is a necessary asset.
I like the bald and faded into beard look. I feel like the transition looks better, but it is easy to mess up. I'll be trying this technique next time.
Nice to see a collab like this. I also subscribe to Matt's channel, another great channel. I personally trim down like his second example. I think mainly because I wear trifocal's and when I take my glasses off to trim it's just hard to see good enough to do the detailed version like his first example. The easiest for me is the straight hard line where my glasses lay but my wife does not like that look so I do my best to fade. .
Ive been shaving my head for 25 years and now have a beard that is 1 year 2 months. I shave my head even with ear. Let the beard grow. If you can grow a long beard it’s an awesome change.
Your thumbnail made me almost pass out!! 😂 I thought you really did it! Heck of a happy birthday present to Mrs. Sam 😂 awesome video, I get really short fades but I won’t let my barber touch my beard. Very helpful!
I was shaving my head for awhile and I definitely liked the look of the tapered fade on the side, for me it just looks clean and stylish. Doesn't take a long time either.
Very nice. Good to see Matt on your channel!! I’m bald and Matt has great shaving tips and this video is another good “how to” on proper grooming for the sideburns for bald men. I like to have a straight edge personally after I’ve shaved my head but I’m going to try out this fade technique tonight. Thanks to you both!!
Bald and bearded and I use the same method as the first side I do go a little lower on the ear because my sides can get very unruly. Thanks Matt and DanC really informative info that can work for bald or with hair. My grandpa always told me god only made a few perfect heads the rest he put hair on lol. The thumbnail is hilarious Dan 🤣😂😂.
I'd been shaving my head since January, Matt's channel is great for advice, even grabbed one of the razors he recommended. I was shaving all the way to scalp, so I just took the sideburns off as well.
Great tutorial! Thanks Dan and Matt! I like to fade my sideburns but don’t keep up with it as often as I should so most times I have kind of a hard line at the top.
Love this collaboration.. Matt is such an awesome dude.. He got me into head wetshaving.. I use the same techniques he uses for fading the sideburns so it definitely works well! 👍🏼 Great video guys🙏🏻
Great video Matt. I'm not bald, but I feel like your fade works well for a faded haircut as well. I'm a fan of your channel too, so keep up the good work guys!
I have two schools of thought to fade or not to fade. I wear glasses and can let the sideburn end abruptly at the ear piece hard line of my glasses. Or I can fade, which I think looks more on purpose, denoting that I groom my beard. That being said, I go against convention and go up instead of down when fading my sideburns. I start with a number six guard of my brio at the bottom edge of the Tragus (that bump in the middle of the ear) and drop down to smaller guards, every 1/4 inch, to three, two, one guards of my Brio. I just get nervous going down into my beard and not so much going up.
I'm like him at the end where he says when he shaves his head he doesn't have a solid line, sometimes I go higher sometime lower, i dont really think about my side burns, in short, I pretty much have a natural fade and i am ok with how my sides look...
Bald & bearded here. I don't do the fade. I go for that straight line at the top. Just a preference for me & it's a lot easier to manage in my opinion.
I'm not bald except by choice occasionally but this is good info on sideburns regardless! It's great to see a guest star on the channel too, love the collaboration.
Even though I'm approaching 50, I'm nowhere near the bald stage (yet 🤣). However, I love that look, for those that are 👍 *SIDENOTE I haven't watched Matt's channel in a minute, but he may be evolving out of the "business" beard stage. It looks MUCH longer and fuller 👍 And also a big THANK YOU for Matt's input! 👊
Really appreciate the video. Just recently shaved my head (at the age of 27 I'm already going bald on top lol) and was looking at how I could transition from bald to beard. My side burns tend to be a little curly when longer and I don't care for the look of it so thanks for the tips!
Great video and good tips. I will be part of the bald and bearded crew for sure. Should probably cuz pull the trigger and do it? You thumbnail threw me off though Dan!
Dan, can you please explain why people make a big stink about people who hate the idea of having short hair and a long beard? I don't see what's wrong with it.
Thanks Dan and Matt. Can't wait for my household goods shipment to get here with my clippers. I really need to get that fade in and can use a bit of a clean up.
Thank you for this. I basically just shave my head first and then I put my beard trimmer on eight and go at the whole beard and then I just groom after that.
I'm bald, well balding and have shaved the rest for over 20 years. I have always faded the beard as I get to the legs on my glasses. I think it looks more finished and gives a cleaner more kept look to my chest length beard. I do my fade twice a week the same time I shave my head. Good video and thanks Dan you are a well rounded bearded channel personality I think the best I n RUclips. Happy Thanksgiving!
You asked for suggestions about programs you might do in the future ...how about a food program? I know you've spoken on this topic before, but I don't know if you've devoted an entire show to the subject. For instance, I believe you've mentioned eating a hamburger with a knife & fork and drinking beer with a straw. In my case, Italian food is usually a disaster - especially eating a plate of spaghetti. I'm an ex-pat living in Mexico, so eating tacos & tostadas can be a huge problem. Then, there are things like the common ice cream cone. OMG, just one lick, and my mustache and my beard on my lower lip and sides of my mouth are covered in ice cream. I can't figure out a way to eat an ice cream cone. Coffee & cappuccino (with its foam) present their own difficulties. Maybe if other people mention their particular food and drink "demons" you can do a show with suggestions on how to look grand while dining out in a restaurant!
Hey Dan I got some content ideas, it's called battle of the beards, you invite one bearded RUclips owner as a guest, you discuss beard regiment as diet, grooming etc etc and then 'critique' certain methods or techniques or beardtools. It would be a debate type of way but still very beneficial for the audience to find usual ways and regiments, and entertaining as well.
@@DanCBearded yeah it's half on the lighter side of things, for example you can have an intro with Movie voice saying 'BATTLE OF THE BEARDS' and then introducing the beard in boxing like stats but with beard relevant info. Just bouncing some ideas with you.
I’m balding and bearded. I’ve opted for a short to medium length full beard which is faded into a buzz cut. Tapered nap, closed #3 on the side and back, and open #3 on top. All nicely faded. I’m not a big guy and I still have enough hair that I’ve decided not to opt for the bald and bearded look.

I'm bald and bearded and typically go from bald to beard without fading but lately my sideburns have been driving me nuts so i may fade them into the beard just for my sanity
and it looks great!
@@DanCBearded thanx brotha!
Definitely have to give this a try. Having a hard time telling if my beard hair is going into my ear or my ear hair coming out to my beard 😂
Let me know how it goes!
#CLICKBAIT
I CAME HERE FOR THAT GUY ON THE THUMBNAIL 😂😂😂😂😈🤙🏼
haha one day!
i like bald and bam beast beard it's more dramatic that way :)
That is a power move!
Why am I watching this since I’m not bald? I guess ‘cause it’s a Dan C. video! And maybe I secretly want to shave my head but don’t have the guts!
haha thank you my friend!
I need to do this but afraid to I might just go with the " Bam beard o the face" Or jut go to a barber that knows what he / she is doing
Keep me posted on what you and how it goes!
@@DanCBearded I will
