That is the nature of this program. A pretty good one in the landscape of UK media. Knowing a little about the presenters character I will safely say he is 100% on the side of Palestinians in this horrible saga but he is doing his job by playing the (unpaletable) part of the detractor and asking the hard questions. Totally understand your comment but this show is very highly rated in Britan and Ireland because of the quality and spectrum of the guests and the antagonistic/oppositional nature of the interaction. Husam does his people credit on the often unfriendly world stage. Peace and freedom to Palestine!

I'm a European, which I don't understand, that countries like Germany, which itself committed genocide against the Jews, countries like the UK, which itself ratified the international laws after the Second World War, still support an Israel that has been for decades violating human rights, committing war crimes, and taking foreign land by force through the settler policy. An Israel under the right-wing radical Netanyahu government, which has already been warned and condemned several times by the International Court of Justice. If you repeatedly pressurize a boiler, it will explode a boiler like Gaza. Through discrimination, violent displacement of people, and destruction of houses and olive groves in the West Bank, at some point the logical reaction will come, October 7th. The UK, Germany, and the USA are complicit in this situation by turning a blind eye and tolerating human rights violations and war crimes for decades. Now people are still trying to distort the facts, like in this show. Germany should be the most ashamed. In World War II, they committed genocide against the Jews and now support a government that commits genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza. Never again doesn't just apply to Jews; it applies to all peoples. Israel has been screwing over its partner countries for decades, and the partner countries like the UK, Germany, and the USA are like the three monkeys, see nothing, hear nothing, and remain silent. It's a shame.

A balanced question would be; The attack on 7th October came as a result of the Israeli occupation. Then you should ask, " Hamas responded more aggressively than was justified". Then you would ask; Isn't Isreal's response, given they are the original aggressors is totally inhumane.

When the ambassador is asked whether Hamas can be allowed to continue to exist when its leaders have committed crimes, he should reply by saying: should the UK Labour Party be allowed to exist given that Tony Blair joined the invasion of Iraq and Starmer is supporting Israel's genocide? That would highlight the hypocrisy and colonial arrogance of the BBC's line of questioning.

Deluding himself. Public opinion is turning against the Palestinians. It's only the Muslims and the hard and so called progressive left that is pro civic unrest and demonstrations. The rest of society in the West cannot stand these demonstrations and the people behind them.

“Public opinion is turning against the Palestinians”
What power does the Palestinians possess to change anything really? Does the world expect them to be well-behaved victims while they’re getting exterminated? For them to be slaughtered without making a noise?
I don't think there has ever been so much scrutiny on an indigenous people, on how they're resisting their colonizers.

@khaledkhaled4299 They are not indiginous. They came with Islam in the 7 century. Before that there were Jews. Hamas and Islamists like them who don't understand the meaning of the word compromise, have doomed the Palestinian people.

What an arrogant presenter. As though he doesn’t know what is happening. He shows no compassion to the suffering and brutality imposed upon the Palestine people. Who is he to demand impossible answers from the Ambassador and why should he? UK should be part of the solution (independence for the state of Palestine) not the interrogator. Kudos to the Ambassador for maintaining his posture, dignity and composure.

Palestinians need a new forward-looking leadership that can deliver them a state, peace, and prosperity. The current leadership with people like Zumlot have had their day because all they've delivered is war and suffering. They need leadership that can think out of the box and stop the suffering. All he is talking about is the destruction of Gaza, but he forgets that Hamas ruled Gaza and Hamas started Oct 7.

I feel like it would be difficult to negotiate a person like Husam ... In negotiations one must normally make also compromises on their views. But seems like Husam is not willing to make peace-compromises with Israel. Israel also has its will and will to defend its land. He must understand that also. Israel is not gonna give their current land to Palestina, that is totally unrealistic idea if somebody thinks that. Also, if you attack Israeli civilians, be sure Israel will defend its citizens with force.... that is normal for every country - they have a duty to defend themselves, REGARDLESS of the reason why Israel was attacked. He must understand that also.... so best to try to make some compromises that Israel security is also respected.
