Thank you Laura! I’m a 69 year old woman that has had about the same relationship with alcohol as you have & your video was extremely helpful… I’m 2 weeks without wine today & feeling great, thank you again!❤️
Sober voor 10 weeks, I was very afraid of dreaming; with ptsd it are always nightmares.. I smoke some weed before I go to sleep I talked about it with my doctor he approved it. Sometimes I dream but no nightmares. My skin was the most dramatically change: I look at least 10 years younger and don't have red cheeks anymore. Lost 6 kg too; I was not overweight but when I see myself in the mirror my hair is thicker, bright eyes: I am so glad i tried what it would do with me if I stopped drinking at all for 3 months. Now I never want to drink again, bought some nice clothes today instead of drinks and cocktails😊🎉
Relapse dreams can be INTENSE! I wake up from them and for a moment feel so sad and upset, until I realize it was just a dream. But ultimately that’s a good thing; it shows how much you value your sobriety. Great video thanks for sharing 😊
This is great. I am super amazed with people who give up alcohol. You are fortunate to find the super power of being alcohol free. I hope you stay with it. I often wonder why people go back once they find out all the benefits. Again Way to go!!!
One thing that is awesome, if one can handle it, is going out with friends where you would normally be drinking and then driving home 100% sober and alert.
its so crazy. I effectively quit drinking just 24 days ago (short timer) and never at one moment have I thought how bored will I be, but more so OMG there are some many things I can do now because I'm not slumped over with a hang over, or spending time trying to piece together the night before, apologizing, etc... I looked over my vlogs here on YoutTube where I had been drinking , recorded and actually LEFT the footage of me plastered in and posted them .. INSANE.. I love the freedom I have had away from the monkey. As far as the group of people I no longer spend with.. OH WELL.. I realize those relationships were only one dimensional and limited to just drinking. Not saying its easily but the benefits FAR outweigh the negatives, so I am just motivated to see how far this can go and what will materialize from me giving myself a chance to live more presently .. - CONGRATSSSSSSS to YOU and thanks for your share, community is SO important
Your comments about stress and feeling reliable are spot on! 26 days sober currently and I can't agree more. My brain feels so sharp, focus is on point and my stress level is at an all time low.
I have new grandchildren who live close by, im very grateful for that fact and I don't want anything (including alcohol) to interfere with that blessing.
At day 34 and went from type A to type A squared. Every day is productive. Dating is certainly easier when there’s no question of “do I like and respect them?” It’s all so clear 🐣
Refreshing to find a channel about quitting alcohol that is targeting an audience that is the average++ drinker, aa opposed to those who are consuming enormous amounts daily . Great video.
I really love hot tea, it’s kinda funny now in the evenings my Bride and I drink tea 🍵 rather than Alcohol .Something I heard the other day which really resonated with me, how after a period of time of “The constant drinking”,Life came to the point where I simply drank to try to feel normal, then consequently I would go through suffering the medical and physical side effects of drinking . thanks again for sharing your story means alot I appreciate it.😊
It means so much to me that you watched! That resonates with me too.. so crazy how much it effects us without us realizing. Jealous you like tea!! I wish I did!
@@lauradoran I wonder if you tried cream in your tea that would change your taste. there are so many different types of tea ,sometimes I buy it bulk in a small bag and put it in my own little teabags. And then there’s lots of decafs also to drink in the evenings and close to bedtime
I'm on day 5 now and one thing I've had to grapple with is definitely feeling like I'm being dramatic in choosing to quit drinking entirely. The way I'm trying to deal with that is to remember the reasons as to why I'm doing this, that it's a good thing and that even if I were to accept that it is a dramatic decision or a "drastic measure", there's literally no harm in not drinking. I've also realised that societally we often tend to ask people to justify them not drinking when we instead should have people justify why they choose to drink in the first place. If you can justify drinking for yourself then that's fantastic, I honestly can't come up with any good reasons for why I should drink and that's enough of a reason not to. This is honestly really helping me to actually be really excited about being sober going forward :)
i totally relate with this!!! feeling like i was "being dramatic" or "overthinking" my relationship with drinking was what prevented me from quitting sooner. but like you said, there is NO harm in sobriety (it's basically just better in every way??) good luck to you!!!
Hey! Glad to see another video lol. Not sure why it took so long to pop up. I'm at day 75 now so I'm cruising to day 90. I appreciate these videos because like you said I dive into the rabbit hole of sobriety benefits just to keep my head straight. I wouldn't relapse at this point but my anxiety flares up a lot with being alone 90% of the time. It's good to think about the benefits I've gained so I don't lose sight of how far I've come, even if not everything is exactly how I want it. Thanks for the great video!
Absolutely! It’s super important to keep reminding yourself of why you quit, and focusing on all the things that are better. Change can be hard but I truly think your soul will thank you in the long run! Stoked for you being at day 75 -- so amazing!!!
Thank you very much for your videos, I'm on day 2 and I've been watching many of your videos, you're real and inspiring. Btw thanks for the app recommendation, I've installed it.
Congratulations 🎊, I appreciate you sharing your story ❤, I was basically in the same boat,, pointlessly getting stressed out, and feeling crappie sometimes. Terrible sleep, etc..now I feel so much more relaxed . Tons of energy, but And yes I to dream in color like crazy, and great short naps.If I do wake up in the middle of the night 🌙 and start dwelling on ( life) things I can easily control my thoughts and go right back to sleep. Thanks friend 😍
I'll have 60 days on the 7th! 😃 I've had a few years before, but went back out and found myself on that same crappy road. This time was different when I stopped though, I experienced extreme anxiety and realized that this world is really crappy, but I was too drunk to accept it and make the best of it for myself. I ain't going any further down that drinking road only to have to go through that detoxing stuff again...if I'm lucky. 😳
My experience was about the same as Laura’s, but just up to the stopping part. It’s now been a month, and I experience absolutely no noticeable change. Sure would like that better sleep deal,, but no. After 60 years of daily drinking, and no change. That’s not supposed to be. But here it is, at least for me.
So much brightness in your eyes. So sad beautiful people can get nipped by the devil (in the bottle). We CAN always pull through it and live clean and healthily and you are a poster picture example of that it CAN be done. IWNDWYT.
Thank you, I listen to your 1st few minutes you're doing a great job, but you didn't have a drinking problem as far as I'm concerned if you only had 1 or 2 drinks A-day, I'm trying to recover from severe drinking, God-bless you
Yes that’s right - although it did take a big toll on me mentally, I did not have a severe drinking problem. Our experiences may be different! I wish you all the best in your journey!
Wow! I had a similar dream! But not for pression in my I just toke the glass of beer for move it from One place to another and as soon as I took it I automatically drink it, but after that I was like Noooooo!!!!!! Noooo!!!! and I ask myself in the dream does this count? . I am 3 month and One week 😅

wonderful, thanks for your stories! 23 days sober and very happy with this choice, I love your videos
Thank you! And congrats on 23 days :) the first bit is the hardest so keep it up!
the weirdest thing is I worry MOST about how it will disappoint my friends if I don't drink.
