As an autistic adult who struggled speaking as a kid, this is really helpful. My mom didn't speak politely so I've been trying really hard to re-learn the way I speak so it's not so harsh and blunt. Thanks a lot!!

What a lovely and extremely substantial lesson for the mankind! Being polite is undoubtedly what provides us a healthy social environment! Thank you teacher Emma! You're an inspiration! ❤💞
Yes, every language has different signals to indicate politeness. Understanding how to translate it from one culture and language to another takes quite a bit of understanding and self checking!
Hi Emma! This is a brillant idea: not only teaching trivial English but also how to to be polite in speaking. This is so rare nowaday that you are a welcome exception. You are a classy teacher who disperse also real class in conversation. Good so: we need educated and friendly people like you!
Hey Emma, I have been binge watching your old lessons lately and I am really ecstatic to learn with this fascinating lesson with my fluency coach. You rock Emma!!
The easiest way to make a request polite is to say "please" when making the request, and "thank you" when the request is granted. "Please open the door for me." "Thank you/Thanks!" Another way to say "no" to an invitation is to show that you wish you could accept. Similar to the example in the video, just adding something like "If only you'd asked me sooner." (Invites the day before an event are REALLY short notice!) One other area to show extra politeness or respect is when you see a stranger in need of help, especially someone with physical challenges. Many people don't want help or are embarrassed to ask, so it's always better offer your assistance as an option. "Would you like some help with that?" "Mind if I help?" "I could hold the door for you if you'd like."
Great tips! My favorite suggestion is to ask "would you open the door for me?" because it' sounds very polite and will allow to to build rapport. The suggestion that I found the trickiest was how to say "no" politey. I found this the most difficult because I didn't expect that by saying "i'm afraid" that I will soften the tone of my voice.
Thank you Emma for this lesson!! My favorite phrase is would you mind, and the most difficult to pronounce was what do you think about. Shall we open the door? Is that a good example to sound polite?. I'd like to see a video about comparatives and superlatives. Would you mind making one for us? Thank you. 💖
Love this video, it improves my tone so much. In stead of talking being kind to each other, at work/home/any place, this video really help me make it happen!
For saying 'no',I would like to add another way maybe idiom. It's ''I'd love it but I'm bigger fish to fly''. thank you so much I love you Tr.Emma ❤❤ for other polite requests, I also would like to add other expressions, ' I don't know about you,but....... ' ' If I'm allowed,.....' 'If you will excuse me,....' I was so pleased for sharing these expressions.💚💚 I'm fan of you❤Tr.Emma❤
Thank you, Emma. I will try to be more polite when I speak. I believe that I have that to do better in this aspect. The improvement in pronunciation is of course also important for me. I like your English class now with that participation as a characteristic. Thank you, again.
Hey Emma I'm always watching your videos that's really amazing to learn & it's really help to me speak English & thank you so much to makes these videos 😊

Hi Emma, how's it going? My favorite is...all of them😊 Great phrases, excellent pronunciation practice. POLITE REQUEST: 1. would you mind explanning the lesson one more time? 2. If it's ok with you, could you make more grammar videos? 3. If you get the chance, could you explain the future perfect? 4. when you have a minute could you reply to my message? POLITE SUGGESTIONS: 1. What if we took* the class together? 2. How about we took/take* the class together? 3. Why don't we take our breakfast? 4. What do you think about practicing one more time. SAYING "NO" POLITELY: 1. I'm afraid I can't make it. 2. Unfortunatelly, I can't make it. 3. It's unlikely I can't make it. 4. I doubt it if can't make it. 5. I'm not sure I can make it. Question: * in the polite siggestion: what if we "moved" and how about we "took" the verb is always in past simple or could be in present simple too? Thank you Emma. You're the best!! Keep it up!!
Hi. Let me correct the sentences that are wrong: 2. How about we take the class together? (you cannot use "took" here.) 3. Why don't we have our breakfast? and later, 3. It's unlikely I can make it. 4. I doubt if I can make it.
