  • The Catfish Kid spent the night so we could get an early start on the river to catch bait - his primary job, and he does it well. Aside from rodtending (like goaltending), he is a big help on the boat (#8), and provides excellent entertainment. We put a few more fish in the freezer thanks to this trip and have a few more stories to tell.
This outing was held on October 4th, the same day as the Virginia Military Air Museum was conducting WARBIRDS OVER THE BEACH. Most of the morning we had World War II Aircraft flying overhead. I wish I had a hand-held camera with a zoom lens. We saw an F1-GD Corsair, Gruman F4-F Wildcat, Supermarine Spitfire, Messerschmitt BF-109 G4, SNJ Advanced Trainer, and other aircraft. We strained our necks as the planes maneuvered overhead, but the old GoPro Hero 7 could only capture the sounds. Still, as an airplane junkie, hearing the round engines loping along or the inline engines roaring at speed, was music to our ears. I may post a short video of just the sounds I edited out of this video. It is a real treat to have this facility in our backyard (Virginia Beach, VA).
    What a great catfishing trip!
