I love Indian cuisines…I first fell in love with South Indian dosas, then North Indian curry’s, discovered Nepali momos. Now South Indian street food like vada pav, behi puri, are amongst some of my fave..Chaat Masala and pakoras are a game changer..lastly I usually start my day with either a chickpea, egg, or lentil masala rice, plain yogurt and sometimes chapati..aacha!!!

Momo is Tibetian. But, Nepalis have their own version. There are several versions in India as well. Like Darjeeling Momos, Sikkim Momos, and Ladaki Momos. My favorite is Darjeeling Shahi Momos.

@@highpeaks3598 The version you eat is Nepali momo with your Indian twist. In Nepal also you can get Tibetian momo which is very different and all that Darjeeling Sikkim have migrated from Nepal not from Tibet. As, Kathmandu traders bought momo to Kathmandu 200 300 years ago from Tibet.

There is the restaurant Indian food and then there is real Indian food that is cooked in Indian households. Tikka masala, butter chicken etc are the restaurant foods. Also, there isn't really an Indian food. Every state has it's own food culture although the base ingredients can be the same. Then there is the street food.

Food can be exactly one reason to visit India. Every region in India has their own cuisine and a lifetime wont be enough to explore all of it. The food shown here are possibly represent .01 % of the Indian cuisine and possibly westernised. Real Indian food will blow your mind and you can experience it only in India !! - I am confident that many of the Indian restaurants operating in the west would not be successful in India.

Majority of India has a rich diversity in food, and Southern cuisine is mainly rice with many gluten-free and dairy free dishes. Take Kerala or Tamil Nadu, majority of them are wheat-free dishes.
