With the collection coming out, gonna be interesting to see how the latest generation of kiddos like it. Battle Network was ahead of its time. More so Mega Man Star Force
I can see people dipping out after part one like before but I hope a new generation of fans can come from this cause I agree that it was pretty ahead of it's time
The Advanced II was a huge improvement over the original Advanced, I was pretty lucky to get one from Yahoo Auctions a while ago when my Battle Network bug bit me again around 2020 lol. It's not on perfect shape, but it's definitely good enough.
All the PET generations are pretty fun, but the best one imo is the Progress PET, the RPG mode is super cool and you finally get to play as ProtoMan, which I always thought looked cooler. Cool vid, I should try making some videos with my devices too, there's surprisingly little content about these devices online.

imagine if they made a rerelease/upgrade color version of the PET for the release of the battle network collection.

Loved playing with these with my little brother when they came out! I still have them but his has a problem with the pedometer sensor from then sadly. I haven’t used them since and this makes me wanna play hahah
Those sensors seem to crap out after all this time. My brother has a Japanese bass one and it refuses to get any kind of battles

Little tangent about the handling of the Rockman.EXE anime in the US. So, the first season, based on Battle Network 1-3 (with 3's PET) ran out of order when it was airing on Kids' WB, causing major continuity screwups. Then they almost forgot they aired it and ran it until December of 2004, but not before showing a sneak peek of the first episode of Axess in November and they started airing the rest of the season in March of 2005. By the time Axess was airing, Battle Network 5 was coming out! Plus, the Advanced PET from BN4 and Axess was released when the first season was still airing! They really should've aired Axess sooner, THEN we would've had dubs for the other three seasons.

The Bass one's were apparently Gamestop exclusives back in the day or just really uncommon. I thought they never released it in english for years because of how rare it was

I had the American pet along with a chunk of battle chips, it makes me sad how expensive these are now and how I wish someone could do a rom rip of them.

Just got mine the other day! It's a really cool PET! Does anybody know what the dark splotches are on older battlechips? I noticed some of my japanese chips looked a little funny.
It's referred to as "bad glue" it only really affects Japanese chips for some reason. It's pretty common so don't feel too bad about it!
I've been wanting to get a PET of some sort. I really want one of the final models made but any of them would be nice.
The progress PET is the best one gameplay wise and is the cheapest! I'll be showing off next week!

I had the English PET back in the day. I never got into it as much as some of my other toys, so I gave it to a friend. Kinda wish I hadn't now, but no biggie.
The English ones are cute but this version is the best out of all of them imo

I got myself a Progress PET last year and it's better than the Advanced in a couple of ways but at the same time worse? You can use any chip from the start, and mine came with the Guardian chip which literally one shots ANYTHING 💀 kinda silly
The progress is my favorite by far! The guardian chip is absolutely busted especially if you use cross fusion lol
I had one of these and imo its terrible, usually if you're moving you're going somewhere, the fact that battles happen by shaking/walking is annoying and imitates one of the worst thing in game design for me (random encounters), it would be way better to have a system like digimon where you sit down and decide "I wanna battle now" and do it
Most digivices at the time had a pedometer system like this. Only the Vpets allowed you to pick when to battle. Definitely check back next week cause you'll like the follow up PET
