  • Organic chemists have been performing synthesis in organic chemistry the same way for over 50 years. Today's business environment is driving the need to increase R&D productivity to levels historically unachievable by round bottom flask workflows. EasyMax is a chemical synthesis reactor that allows organic chemists to run reactions from 1ml to 200 ml in a variety of reactors from -40 °C to 180 °C. www.mt.com/us/en/home/product...
The ability to discover new synthetic pathways in a timely manner is limited, due to the fundamental shortcomings associated with traditional methods.
A critical parameter which cannot be investigated with traditional synthesis techniques is reaction temperature, which is not often optimized due to time pressures associated with development. Traditional synthesis techniques lack control capabilities and hinder the pace of development when expanding experimental evaluations to other critical process parameters such as stirring, pH, and dosing rate.
Innovative chemistry to develop process conditions and breakthrough molecules, which enable safe and economically viable processes, is what chemists are continually searching for. New techniques are necessary to develop better chemistry and execute more successful experiments due to the increase in molecule complexity, high scale up confidence, and shorter timelines required by industry.
Methods used to expand research and development of optimized process conditions and innovative molecules are effectively used by researchers today:
    • Controlling parameters to avoid impurity formation during a guanidine reaction
    • Identifying the ideal operating conditions for a successful triflation reaction
    • Inline reaction rate meter tracking a two-step lithium borohydride reduction
    • Central composite Design of Experiment (DoE) for guanidine reaction scale-up
