I disagree with the little food... These are amazing parents and they provide very well for Simba. Eagle's can go 2 or 3 days without eating and as his growth slows down ( he is almost adult size) eaglets do not need as much to eat. The times that his parents have not brought food are teaching him skills he will need to have as he goes off on his own. 💕🦅
having grown up in the Bay Area, I am well acquainted with earthquakes. Watching this, at 7.1, gives me the absolute chills. But it was so sweet to see Jackie and Simba sleeping together on their branch.

Such is Nature. He does appear to be Very well fed with two attentive parents. As far as earthquakes, he is probably in the safest situation possible and could fly well enough if he had too. Some of the other Eagle cams show siblings bumping each other out of the nest at younger ages...I would take the quake!

I was watching the nest when Jacky was looking under the tree, a moment she presumed and just before flew, Simba the brave jump to the center of the nest, which has happened with Shadow?

That earthquake left us with a damaged water heater that now needs to be replaced. To bad nobody got footage of our lake during the quake. I'm sure Simba wasn't to afraid, he was probably more surprised that there was no wind while the the tree shaked back and forth.
That nest is hundreds of feet above ground animals; and Trees sway w/ winds all the time. I think the fireworks at Big Bear Lake Park could be much more annoying to birds, any deer ( who might think it was rifle gunshots) and other animals.
Mom knew what was going to happen and flew away. Simba felt that something strange is about to happen. He will remember the feeling and will be able to predict the earthquake before its start.
I think Jackie was checking on Shadow... I am not sure but I think I have heard him answering her. Well.... the nest is still strong and the tree looks strong!

No Shadow has not left them. Both him and Mom are not at the nest as much anymore during the day to maybe encourage Simba to take his first flight. Shadow brought fish last night and even fed Simba. Mom also brought a fish and she usually comes in late to spend the night on her perch to watch over Simba.

3 earthquakes actually. Big one on 4th of July, and two (including this big one) yesterday. He's a pro now at rockin' and rollin'.

Yes, not too long ago, Shadow brought a small fish, and Mom brought in a whopper!
