The fairy cakes are plain specifically so you can ice them yourself. It's a good way to make custom cakes for a party, or keep kids busy, without going through the hassle of making them from scratch.
I wouldn't wish that on anybody ,i had to have a week on liquidized food (they put me on a soft diet) during a hospital stay, and it was absolutely disgusting !!!
Aw god this reminds me of when I had the train track braces , every so often the orthodontist would tighten them up and the pain was unreal trying to eat. It’s worth it in the end though!
I can recommend strawberry Complan if you have difficulty eating. Made up with blue top milk it tastes just like a nice strawberry milkshake but has the nutrition of a light meal.
It does get easier but for me every tray switch starts me back at the starting point. You reminded me though I need to put mine back in. I slept with them out 😳
I had train tracks so slightly different experience. But yoghurt, scrambled egg and soup are really nice on the teeth when starting out/having braces tightened. So are spaghetti hoops and baked beans. Sorry to hear you're suffering Mike! It does get better though
Sorry you’re suffering Mike. I’m on week 3 of 18 myself to correct “extreme” overcrowding. The pressure gets better, but meals are still an “is this worth taking the trays out for.”
I wore full fixed braces for 3.5 years, surely Invisalign can't hurt as much as having metal glued to each of your teeth, with a wire connecting all of them, I'm sure they will stop hurting after a week or so anyway
I had train tracks top and bottom as well 😲 I had to get the ceramic (white) anchors glued on for reasons but same thing. I remember *the tightening* 😱😭
He does complain about everything and anything, begins to drag when you're watching all 7 days in one go sometimes. Not sure what he'd talk about if he didn't have something to complain about!
"Buu huuu, look at me, I had it sooo much worse, come and give me attention because going trough something else means I can bellitle eveyrbody around!" Piss off.
The difficulty while eating reminds me of when I first got my partial dentures while also getting a filling, eating became so uncomfortable for the first couple of days/weeks, but it easily gets better over time.
thanks for the vid mike enjoying this week on and if your braces where anything like mine 20 odd years ago they pull the skin off your cheeks the first few weeks and very uncomfortable
@@kingfish4575 *than* the time spent scrubbing? Yeah.. time is just time and aluminium whilst plentiful takes a lot of energy and is fairly polluting to extract and refine, especially given most aluminium foil can't be or simply isn't recycled and just ends up in landfill. Any time I try a sauce like that cheese sauce you tried, I think its a good idea to do one dip first to see if its nice before pouring all over an otherwise nice meal. Very risky pouring an unknown sauce on top of your dinner.
The discomfort from braces gets easier over time, just thank God you don't have to deal with expanders. I had one on the top and later on the bottom and they're the worse. You have to use a metal key to physically crank them wider in small increments. In medieval times they would have been a torture device.
Doing a week on the same week you get braces is possibly one of the stupidest things Mike has ever done ... And I know from experience I had to freeze a whole weeks worth of food when I got mine and threw out so much ...
I wish he had tried the pasta before putting on the cheese sauce. And that pasta needs some pepper or something other than salty cheese. Maybe a bit of hot sauce?
@@lizb4156 Not from a single day like that, no. But you are much more likely to be healthy and well if you do eat a decent amount of fruit and veg most days. I know we don’t see how Mike really eats during week-ons, but if fruit and vegetables were a priority with him I think he’d be likely to automatically buy more of them when the topic of the week-on allows because it would be his habit. If he hasn’t ever done a week-on 5 a day, he should give it a shot.
@@spa-town1937 I manage to not eat any for ages, it doesn't make any difference. In the olden days we couldn't get fruit. We had apples once a year and a couple of blackberries once a year.

@@spa-town1937 Yeah they were. Apples aint gonna cut it. They're full of sugar and acid. I'm 45, never go to the doctors. Never been since my mum took with when I was little. Perhaps he went to the orthodontist I used years ago. Sadist. I’ve had several operations over the years, but teeth with braces was a special sort of pain. Probably leftovers from the egg industry. Since a few years, since people dislike the shredding of male baby chicken, they breed now old new races which can be used for both egg and meat production. Now they kill the baby male chicken later when they are old enough to become at least chicken wings. Still a short life though. But that's pretty much the reasons why the last years chicken tighs and wings have gone done in their price a bit. Those thousands n thousands male baby chicken which were shredded before are now floating the market.
i know right.... i would never be able to eat wings like that... also the way the fat shot out was disgusting... it was probably cooked but clearly needed longer in the oven... did you see when he made bolognaise sauce? it was literally just tomato sauce and mince.... i don't know how anyone can eat as bland as this!

Joke's on you, he already did a week on baby food.
I sometimes eat the sachets of fruit based baby food before I go for a run!! Some of them aren’t too bad!!
That meal is a regular in my house, except I have spinach and ricotta tortellini - it’s usually something I have when I don’t want to cook much x
Be glad you can take those out. I had the regular braces where they glued them to your teeth for five years.

Does Waitrose not do essential hot sauce for making proper wings?
Mike never seasons anything
Next week Basil will not want Waitrose cat food anymore! It's always the way lol

Pain is wearing the old metal braces...I lived for trips to have them tightened :-(
I've always been curious why you don't use foil in all your oven meat pans? Makes clean up a breeze.
Bit of a waste isn't it? Save foil for the BBQ jacket potatoes or something👍
More of waste then the time you spend scrubbing an increasingly dirty pan??

Just go for the full Sean Connery-accent, where every 's' is pronounced as 'sh'.
I had fixed braces and they were very uncomfortable. I see a week on soup coming!
Another week on beige

Wouldn’t trust all that chicken for a quid
to be fair most supermarkets in the UK sell cheap wings for very cheap.. probably throw away left over cuts
It's chicken wings, they're essentially off cuts with tiny amounts of meat on them, of course they're cheap.
make soup with the wings

Someone else needs to take the reins of this concept. Cook the same typical week night meals, have some constants. Oh and be able to cook

Please, season the wings
Salt and pepper is enough for some people. Not everyone likes super spicy ones
"Raw chicken does smell a bit iffy" that is assuming it actually was chicken
Pls no bother Basil, he a gud catto
A week on Yfood

1 pound for all those wings... whats wrong with them? You can't sell chicken that cheap.

You could have sliced your banana on your toast 🤤
You should have spread some marmite on your toast, works for me when the toast is too dry!😉😃
Waitrose don’t do their own marmite.
Budget my ass.... 87 £ is not budget
Do a week on Indian cuisine. But maybe install an outside toilet first
bit of naff this challange but waitrose prices are the same as other supermarkets normal range there very expencive

Every time you do that clicking noise at Basil, I want to punch my speakers.
Chuck the cat plus favourite toy in the bathroom when you are sucking the carpet. :)
5:10 - 5:13 behave lol
Everything you ate today was the same shade of yellowy whitey beige. The worst

@Pam GM 😂
The chicken smells "iffy" because you don't wash it. Wash it with lemon and it won't smell.
@Pam GM we always wash our meats, just disinfect your sink and surfaces afterwards.

English food isn't bland either, we're not Indian so why would we curry everything up. If we want a curry we have one.
Great ...a year and a half of crybaby Mikey. Whaaa...whaa
