The first duel would have went down much differently if caleb had attacked around 20:55 with fly + pede with ladybug equipped for 3100 instead of the eventual chain direct for 1800. those bricks that duel were insane though. The purpose of Black Garden is to effectively tutor monk. Activate Black Garden and summon either grepher or arma to send monk, or really anything if it's already in the grave. With Black Garden summoning an 800 plant to the field, you can use its second effect to summon any 800 ATK monster from your Graveyard, which is monk. You could also set Black Garden, make a board, and then flip it so now all your 1800s are nearly impossible to destroy by battle, though that has risky implications for future turns. god I love triangle era zexal; it's just too bad Mermail is consistently that much better than the competition which makes me not really enjoy the rest of zexal. to be clear, not for the fact that there is a best deck cuz that'll happen anyway. it just does everything the triangle had with spot removal on atlanteans, megalo can pull off otks or at worst game shots from high lp, and it's surprisingly resilient for the time with different searching and recursion as well as floaters (beyond their combos, wind up had insane grind game). there just doesn't seem to be a point to specialize in one aspect when there's a deck that could do it all. I can see why you both banned it.
I don't think he should have been able to use Summoner Monk effect to discard and summon while he had Acid Golem on the field. It didn't end up mattering, but still an illegal activation.
I love this so much aside from the Conquest format. Not that I think it takes away from the content, I just don't like Conquest in general only bc it highlights the strengths/weaknesses in particular matchups as compared to a general power level for it
The Dark World list looks exactly like my 1st Meadowlands Melee 10 list that I profiled recently on my channel. Did you come up with these decklists yourself or did you take inspiration from the format library decklists?
a lot of inspiration was pulled from the Meadowlands Melee results. The Dark World one did, incidentally, come out almost exactly 1 to 1, but the other lists had key differences in them from their inspiration points.

It did end up mattering because he wouldnt have used Skill Drain if they remembered Caleb was unable to special summon. Unfortunate but it happens.
