sometimes when i skate a park i ask people what they’re riding and if i can just give it a lil push and see if i like how their shit feels. people usually are cool with it and actually want to talk about boards and trucks and wheels and bearings and whatnot. go with what feels good, don’t just ride 52mm spitfires because that’s what everyone says you should ride. unless that’s what you wanna ride cuz ain’t nothing wrong with 52mm spitfires lol

If you or someone skates hella street, I would even suggest skating 54 like Chima said cuz the streets shred your wheels & you’ll be down to 52 mm within 10 - 15 sessions of skating street stairs & ledges 😂 especially if you’re pushing through the city 🌆

8 is considered a small board now. People are out there riding 9s now. I see so many kids on those tanks

@IDiggPattyMayonnaise that's just insane...how the heck can they even flip it..much less have a high Ollie. I got sponsored by ollieing over a tennis net..only way I could do it was with a very light 7.5 super light grind kings on it..I mean every gram of weight had to be taken off to the fullest to get me that high. Idk how kids do it nowadays

@@Nimrod336It is really crazy how they make big ass boards flip like a 7.5. I stepped to a 8 in 2002/03 and it was considered BIG back then. The step up from 7.88 to the 8 felt monstrous. Not too many boards even came in 8s at the time, basically only team decks. Haven't gone up because it still feels right, even though I wear a 13 shoe now. But at my local I see the 12yr olds with bigger boards and smaller feet ripping.

Wheelbase. You can flip pretty much a plank, as long as you have the same wheelbase. I had the exact same reaction as you when i first found out nobody skated 7.5 anymore. Theres 8.5s with 15wb and then you are right, they are just off and require so much power to flip. 14inch wb was even standard on 9.6" decks where the flips everyone does were invented and i'll tell you. A big ass truck is so much better than 7.5 nonsense trucks
