I really admired CCCP. The first workers and peasants state in History. It created a space program, overcame a civil war and 2 worldwide conflicts and withstood isolation for many decades. Soviets heroically defended their homeland during 2nd world war, lost 20,000,000 people and fought back Nazism successfully to liberate its territory and people. I feel a deep respect for these accomplishment.

I am from Latin America, lived and study in the USSR 2 decades ago. I admire the Soviet people for their patriotism during 2nd World War. Besides many of the values of socialism I admire. Those are things I lived firsthand like generosity, a social system where everybody had enough to live without excesses, a very good education system and health for free!

@MihaiViteazul100 The ideology of communism itself is a good constant for humanity... The only problem is the same problem that has occurred in the tryouts to reach communism along history (since communism has never been a reality): the practice. You can be a communist politician and say "oh yeah, I'll be loyal to the ideology and try to reach its goal and I will never fuck with the people" but then once in power start killing a lot of people.
Its not the idea itself, but the practice.

@astifan1 It's totaly oposite!the Croats had all possible support of the western countries, while the Serbia had the sanctions, and did not want to interfere in Serbo Croat conflict in Croatia! So that was easy to defeat Serbs from Croatia, with all(military, logistic, media, diplomatic etc)help from NATO and UN peace keepers! The same situation was in the Bosnia, don't forget 1995,when the Bosnian Serbs, after the sanctions from West(and Serbia),was bombed,in same time croato-muslim coalition attacked!

80% of Hitler's armies were fighting soviets, using most resources, best men, best equipment. USA lost in Europe 400 000 men. USSR lost 25-30 millions.
I personnaly think USSR could have won the war alone (as long as Japan doesn't open another front), since in 1943, USSR produces more tanks and better ones that Germany. It would have been longer, but USSR had enough power to do it

Thanks for answer my comentary zayats, and for use real data to explain it, as i said in my coments , i agree with you in the corageous hearth of russian soldiers , but I dislike a lot the function of the commisars , the bravery must come from love to the patry and the country , not from fear.
I give you a positive point to your commentary , and please excuse my english level , I know is not perfect jeje.

excuse me , but the nazi defeath was caused by serious tactical errors like: in great britain attack the civilians and not the airfields , in russia , the nazis must fall back on stalingrad until summer and then continue the strike on east front as i think, russians were brave soldiers , that is true , but the tactical errors of Hitler were his death sentence , please excuse my poor english, and thanks for reading my oppinion

  • @HorseSoldier176

With all due respect, if the Soviet Army was so lousy, as you suggest, then why did they kick your Nazi asses all the way back to Berlin, virtually on their own?
...because they, like all motivated soldiers, fought for their mothers, sisters, wives, and girlfriends, not for an ideology.
This video is of a celebration in 2005, of the 60'th anniversary of the defeat of Nazism, not a victory of Communism.

  • @movitmovit

@MihaiViteazul100 we still don't know how well communism would have worked because none of the regimes that claim to be communist are/were actually truly communist. in the case of russia, it rapidly became a dictatorship that adopted some of the teachings but not others.
a true communist is an optimist; some would say a naive optimist who does not understand how deeply greed and lust for power are rooted in the human psyche.

  • @carsmasher

First if it wasn't for the Red Army our guys would have never made it past the beaches of Normandy. The Eastern Front tied down 75% of all German forces. The Soviet paid dearly for the war in terms of lives lost. The actual number of Soviet dead is still unknown.
The Pacific was ours, no doubt, but European victory was to a very large part goes to the Russians, willing to trade territory and lives for time.
